I like the big stone pillar mirror thing. What is it? A monument or some kind of portal?

I lay upon my bed one bright clear night, and gazed upon the distant stars far above, then I thought... where the hell is my roof?

Portals. They need a bit of fine-tuning, but they work. And they are scriptable; you place them and link them. They are currently limited by the number of cameras available to DBPro.

I am afraid that's the only way to download the game. If you have a firewall, that might be preventing the SVN program from connecting properly. Also, make sure you have the most recent version. They keep old versions hanging around.

As far as handling quests, are you interested in the code behind it, or just how the quests work in the game?

Beginning to look like a well polished game there Nevereverend Slaine! It has an Ultima Underworld look to it as well, which was one of my old favourites. I'll keep me eyes out for this one.

I wasn't trying to step on any toes . Just made a mere observation on the screen shots, since it did actually remind me of Ultima Underworld. I meant no disrespect to any other projects related to this thread that are also on the go.

If you have not successfuly run the game since then, can you check the Game\Source folder for a file named Debug.txt and post that file or its contents. That could help me determine what the issue is.

Looks like a corrupted text file. It looks like the Game\Source\AI Entities\Media\Agents.txt file has an error in it. Try updating from the SVN again (or downloading that file from the website directly). https://wush.net/svn/kenjar/

You can find rabbits anywhere there are other herbivores (because they all like to hang around the plants they can eat). Go near cows, sheep, or groles, and press the search button (the eye) and look around. You will see the names of animals and plant appear in black text. The names flash, and the further away from you, the more they flash, so the more difficult to see. Do this a few times in the same area, and you should be able to home in on a bunny. If not, look for another area and try it.

I can't comile it. I'm getting at declaration invalid at line 1942. I look in the FullSourceDump, its a blank line. Delete a few blank lines, its still the same line number. Ideas?

[EDIT] I fixed some errors. There were 3 types being referenced before they had been declared. 1 error left now, can not understand Collision_Setup(). Maybe its supposed to be in that World\Collision System.dba which is, well, blank.

Are you running 6.2? Because I think in the bug forum on the OMMORPG site it has people having trouble running it under 6.2 at the moment. I know it didn't run for me - but the .exe ran fine (you'll find it in the OMMORPG folder).

I am running 6.2. I dont see the exe, but I got it to compile. I had to go to the online directory myself to get the code that was supposed to be in the blank file. Looks like its coming along nicely. The only thing is I cant turn in the rabbit quest for a second time....oh, and I killed an Elmor Fudd =P

The exe is in the rar file. Could you describe how exactly you got it to compile under 6.2?

Gladly =)

1) Make sure that the World/Collision System file isn't blank, that was one of my problems. If it is, browse the online file directory yourself and grab it.

2) Open Player/Player Functions and move the Coinage and Vector types above the Character type

3) I believe lastly, open up Menus/Character Generation and move the skillset type above the stats type

That should (hopefully) do it. If it still doesn't work and the error doesnt help, look in the temp folder in your DBPro directory and open ErrorReport.txt. If that doesn't help, try posting the file here and ill have a look.

Right, I made the changes you suggested, and still no luck, good call on the collision system file, it's weird, when you check it in notepad its there, just the ide doesnt seem to like it.

The ErrorReports.txt file doesnt help alot, for example, this is the first error returned:

Are you sure you moved the coinage type? I did the whole thing again and apart from some more files being blank, it worked. The bottom of Player/Player_Functions should look like this:

If you got the whole project there is a rar or zip(can't remember) that has the exe. Just extract it in the same folder and run

You want more than 32 portals in the screen at once??

Anyway, I do have some helpful advice, I wasn't just being annoying.

Here's a lil demo I wrote that has seemless portals (your's don't look seemless)

Sorry it won't let me upload it

Aha! One question, do you have to download all the files individually? Everytime I go to the version control system, it has a lot of directories with many files, but I'm not sure if you have to download all the files separately. Thanks for the info!

There are two ways to download, but regardless which you use, all the files are required. The first is to download and install the SVN software and the download the game from the SVN site. The second is to go to the game's SVN site and download the files individually (which could take a lot longer, and the updating is more taxing).

Alright I got the SVN software and it downloaded quite a few files to my ommorpg folder, but it seems to have not gotten all the files. There are more folders on the web directory, such as Menus. So when I tried to run the exe it gave me an error about a menu file not existing. Should it download all the files, or just some of them? I did get quite a few already.

If you didnt get all the files right click on the ommorpg folder and click SVN update and it will start downloading the files again. You will need all the folders to run the game.

Edit: Oh I got it. I thought you had to place the exe in the main directory, when you actually have to place it in the game directory.

Anyways it looks very nice right now!

Thanks for the compliment MikeS. It has been a lot of work to get where we are now - well over a year and 60k lines of code (or something like that). A great team of folks working on it too - I don't think any one of us could have gone it alone.

Have you ever done any large scale online tests yet? Or is it still in the early RPG stage before internet connections?

Well, another short update...

We've paused to work on some better tools for building the game, including a rapidly developing editor. So while this looks like we've become the OpenMMORTS Project, it is all just business as usual.
