OnePost, what are you talking about? If you try to compile and run the fpsc source on the new DBP release, it bombs on the string functions due to the reworking of 0-based strings. I tried to see what you are referring to by 'map editor', but I guess I don't understand.

Whoops, see it now. Thanks. I'd like to tell you what exactly has changed, but I can't. All I can tell you for sure is that it seems like string arrays are 0-based now, so mid(string,1,3), doesn't give back what it did previously. But then again, there were other string problems before that required a workaround. Anyway, to fix it, I just had to do some error checking to make sure lens and mids weren't going to be performed on 0 length strings, because now all the string functions die very horrible deaths when they dont like the parameters.

Sorry I can't be more specific, I will try to post code tomorrow when I'm back at work and I'm going on memory.

by '0 based' you mean the string array now starts at 0?
and '0 length' refers to a null string?

@Lizblizz:

Grade am I in? I don't follow you. I'm 33 years old. I'm currently attending Art Institute of Atlanta trying to get my 2nd Bachelors Degree in Game Art and Animation. My first Bachelors degree I got back in 1993 in Computer Information Systems. My daughter is currently interning at idsoftware.

I will explain the differences later tonight. I need to run to Taco Hell and get some food.

The man has already said he only has time to work on Riker 9 on the weekend. He has two jobs and he is going to college. He will have it done as soon as possible.Bugging him constantly is not going to hurry him up.
I would like to have Riker 9 as much as the next guy/girl.CE already posted an update. It will hopefully be this weekend when we get some of it and the whole app will be out when he gets it done.

I swear if I was Cellbloc, I would pack all my stuff up and move on the next time I heard someone asking that. The man's doing all he can. Be patient. If it takes him a couple of weeks, so be it. If it takes him a couple of months or years, so be it. You do not have to use Riker9. No programmer can say "I'll have it done on such a day or even such a week most times".

Just idle curiosity; I have my Serial keys. Just wanted to know.

That's what I'm saying. Please don't get rid of physics capabilities, because that would take away from Fpsc and thats one of the key features of this software.

I shut the physics off of just about everything. It tends to speed up my game and some things such as enemy entities actually function better without the physics on.

Please do not disable physics completely..... I also disable it when using enemies, they work much better without it, but with some entities I still use physics, like boxes that need to be transported from one place to another.

Disabling Physics completely in FPSC is just like removing any other function or feature or even making it non user editable or restrictive - its a generally a bad idea to remove modern game making features or functions. Choice is good - less choice resricts game making capabilities and the user base too.

I do make exception in removing physics when it comes to boxes I want to move and things like that.
I do think it should be up to the devloper on a case by case basis whether to include physics or not.
I like choices too.

I am half way certain he means to replace it with Havok

Or, if that is not the case, perhaps the 'PhysX'

Yes right now he'll have to use sphere bounding on the culling code. Even though sphere is less accurate (accuracy depends on the shape of the object) it is wicked faster than box or cube testing. Box is the most accurate followed by cube and then sphere. Box and cube takes the same amount of time to run and both are up to 8 times slower than sphere (usually around 4-5 times slower on average). I am still checking on a tree system to speed up the testing, but I don't have much free time yet. I am beta testing NGC 4.02 with most of my free time as it will be out very, very soon and rocks. I thought about making an engine for FPSC with NGC, but it doesn't have physics yet. If I decide to do this in the future I will make it open source.

Hey, what about having animated avi's besides animated decals. That would be very beneficial to our development. With avi's, you can get good quality animations(particles) or an animated computer screen or television in your games.

Avi's slow the game down too much really. It would be nice to have as an option though I guess. 0_o It is really better to do animations with file sequences IMO.

jk, I know it takes alot to get what you want working. Just need to entertain the masses with my insanity. Keep up the good work and don't let Lee bring you down... we all know that the bugs in U6 are there to keep you from succeeding.

he is busy... I would imagine that it would be easy if you have save load working, when the plr goes into the winzone, the ifused field would refer to the level number, and then you 'trigger' a save load. Any enemys that are dead would stay dead, but the harder part is that you need to SAVE your weapons and only LOAD the entity element stuff. (and the fact that you need to match up the winzone with the winzone)

OnePost, my email isn't about save/load, but the ability to use different winzones in one level, each winzone taking you to a different level. This as oppossed to as we have it now, only one winzone in a level, always taking you to the next level in line.

CB though he had seen it done somewhere and promised to look into it.

You can only have 1 winzone? I was almost certain you could have multiple winzones... or atleast multiple objects that act as winzones.

Either way, my post was half asking why you need to ask him, and also providing a very breif summary on how to achive such a system.

Personally... I would prefer a script command rather then the activate if used.
