Although for more high detail models those counts jump in organics especially.

I'd say that 4000 - 6000 triangles would be suitable for a good character. 4000 is easily achieved.

Awesome, do you do requests?

I'd like a cylindrical energy charge, rounded at one end, like the attached (badly drawn) screenie.....

Thanks...

Coffeegrunt, I'm not at all sure what you wanted, the picture didn't help, so I used my immagination and came up with this...

I tried to get transparency to work, but the conversion process kept giving an error on the .x file, so I had to settle for a regular UV mapped model.

Attached is the .zip with the .x model and texture map.

Cheers!

In case you mean some sort of Energy Shotgun Shells, I redid the texture and twinked the uv map..

Attached is the zip with the modified .x model and texture map..

Cheers!

EDIT: I was looking at the energy ammo and decided the top part of the end cap needed a hole to allow the energy to be discharged. So, I made a slight modification to the texture map..

.. and here is an updated sample render..

Is thread Necromancy still a legal move on these forums? (If I intend to start posting more models that is..)

The current 'sculpting' compo has inspired me, what can I say..

attached is the zip with the .x model and texture. (with a sample render)

Cheers!

I was not totally satisfied with the old medkit I made, the top texture was also painted on the bottom. (which is/was never meant to be seen due to the kit always sitting on the floor.)

This new one has a way better texture map and UV. Check it out and see for yourself.

.zip attached.

Cheers!

Here is a new texture for the checker piece and a othello board. There wasn't much detail needed on the othello board so I just used a 512x512 texture.

play piece, board and sample in the attached zip.

Cheers!

Nice work, David!

I've attached a RAR file containing every single model you've posted here, if you don't mind. That way if someone wants to download all your models they don't have to browse through 170 posts and 5 pages like I did.

i like orange

I got Inspired by Josh Mooney's chess set in the 100 models in 100 days thread.. but wanted to make my own art-deco/modern design for the pieces.

Attached is a set of black and white pieces, texture and sample. (I also inserted the Chess/Checker board for good measure.)

Cheers!

Oh! You beat me too it! Right now I'm still waiting for my entire chess set to upload(54mb )

Very nice work, I like the style. Reminds me of Oddworld oddly enough.

Edit: Hey you still working on your polygon thread? I thought that was going very well.

Josh, the polycount discussion became a monologue so I switched to this thread.

I'm still having fun making stuff from the 5x5 cube sculpt thing. the base of these chess pieces started as a 5x5 cube, but I added the head part as a second object, once exported and UV mapped, then imported and exported again the 2 objects become one.

Cheers!

Ok, lost the internet for a few days and began working on a set of RTS vehicles.. I'm gonna try to use one texture map for a set of 4-6 models.. here is a sample of my first 2 wip's..

Cheers!

P.S. I'm trying to make the models out of 'objects', like reusing the treads, wheels, base chasis etc.
