Nice, I thought Mike Inel was entering, giving one of his strong competitors is not winning tactic

Mini games would be cool, as for drop the soap, well people like something shocking, chuck it in and label the games a horror.

aww, how did you become so good!?

Nice work, is the light acting on the guy? he looks just a little out of place in such a grimy, gritty setting. Is he a bit small?
Anyway, just my opinion.. amazing

at least he has nice shoes...

You know, your levels are nice, and the model is nice... but really, you shown us the same level and the same guy about 4 or 5 different ways now... not good for hype.

You might want to wait to post until you have an animated preview, new model, or demo, or something....

hmm, is the game totally set in the jail? if so.. then its not just one level . Mind you, a nice variety of locations would be nice. The dank jail could get a bit.. repetative. On the other hand.. that could just be my slightly un-nerving obsession for nice open landscapes coming through :p

...My point was that maybe.. on one level he would GO TO PRISON and do an exciting and daring escape level and then get out. No need to be rude now, was there?

Still, I'm looking forward to more details.

yupyup. And dont forget, there will be entries that will not have devlogs. On Ongamedev.com the spring contest was won by someone who no-one had ever heard of. I know in this contest 10 points go to devlogs (er, WIPS) but.. you never know.

still, based on the screenshots.. this game has a pretty good chance of being fun

By the way, totally off topic.. I really like your signiture, Peter H. I laugh every time I see it

Judging by the screens it appears to be a very nice visual game. not enough has been posted to decide if this game will be fun or not.

It does look nice! But I don't go crazy over screens because for all we know he could be just placing the character in the scene and taking a screenshot and have nothing done whatsover. It always seems to me that those who have simpler less graphically intense games are the most fun to play. Don't get me wrong it looks great!!! Its just a little early to judge. Im sure it will turn out nicely and the best of luck to you and your team junkrock.

The one thing that bothered me is the clothes the charecter is wearing. Now believe me, I know nothing about prison, but I would think that he wouldn't be wearing a casual long-sleeved shirt and a pair of jeans . Maybe i'm wrong, but for all I know, the character looks like he could be just about to take a dog for a walk, and that just dosn't seem like the type of look for this game.

Cocacola and Pepsi aren't that differnt. Deal with it.

It is a british prisioners style of clothing, the dress over here in prisions is genrally pretty casual, that is what I am portraing as all the voice actors are english or welsh. just makes the world more believeable. hmm, im not ready to post a demo quite yet but mabey a trailer in the near future heh even if to just show movement.

Ok I just spoke to Mike who is lead programmer on the project and he agrees that we should show you a very brief tech demo, basicly this is the level in the pics, the character animations are not anywhere near the final release quality, this is basicly to prove that we are not pasting models in the level to take pics with, we are not putting in any of the game features as no-one has guessed what they are. ps we know there is no collision.

I think i should point out....

WASD - Move Character

Mouse Movement on the Horizontal Axis - Adjust Angle of Camera.

Just to clarify, dont make any assumption of the quality of the game from this tech demo.

Demo looks cool. Dark though, I can see this becoming quite the challenge for some of us Rest of World people to compete with, speaking graphically of course. Good luck.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Well after much hard work and effort, I realised the textures I was using in my levels were only useable with written permission, when I emailed the author to gain permission the address bounced, with no other contact details that renders them unusable! Therefor I shal be creating my own texture pack for the project. Hopefully this shouldnt put us to far behind schedule.

Ok goiong through some of the feedback collected in this topic I have decided to make the cell block less 'dungeon' like and make it more like a real life UK prision, which if you have ever seen on is much lighter. Ill post some screens when I get some textures done.

I think the material there is too crisp, like the fabric is magnified or something. Really, I think people would expect a prisoner to be wearing a cheap faded sweatshirt (maybe with a short sleeve shirt over that) and dark blue trousers. I think it'd be cool to have these standard prison issue clothes then have them mixed up a bit for each prisoner, like everyone wearing the same clothes but trying to look unique.

ooo this is the 100th message in the topic.....get in! Anyway, yes I shall adjust the textures in a bit, VanB I agree with you each prisioner should have there own version of the uniform.
