For awhile now I've been working on my own FPS engine. So, here's what I've got so far.

*Note: This is just the engine with a sort of "placeholder game". Once it is mostly finished I will begin my full game.

First Person Shooter Engine
Version: 0.2

= Finished
= Not Started But Working on Soon
= In Progress

Current Features:
Player Control
Weapon Control (Nearly Finished)
Raycast Style Bullet Collision w/Objects & Terrain
Terrain w/Player Collision
Shader Based Water
Timer System (keeps game speed constant with varying framerates)
Entity System
Particle System (Only one particle set right now)
Going Under Water, Swiming, Floating
Drivable Vehicles
ODE Based Physics (ODE instead of Newton for speed)

I won't be starting on the AI (it will use Dark AI) until sometime after the end of summer. I used up all my summer spending money on my new Nintendo DS

Demos
None Available at the Moment

Videos
Player Control, Entities, & Bullet Collision Video - (6.71 mb)
Running, Crouching, and Underwater Demonstration (5.43 mb)

Uhhh dude, looking awfully like Modern Combat eh.
Anyway if you want ill host your videos, but can ya change it slightly to make it not look so much like Modern Combat please.
Or maybe we could join together and make a exellent game cos if you can do physics then great, cos I cant, up to you
Anyway thanks for the timer.
Also chris, he did make it but just made it similar.
Cheers

Well, the terrain is just from the terrain example, and the water from another example (thanks to Natflash for pointing that out ), and most of all the graphics are just from FPSC. They're just placeholders for now, in fact this is only the engine I'm working on, not the game yet. Though I can always look for diffrent place holders - maybe scifi

@Natflash - I don't have Dark AI so I couldn't help you with your code by directly editing it, but maybe we can work something out if you want. I'm working on some cool functions that should be pretty cool. I could also help you out with pointers and snippets on how to implant ODE. Why not drop me an e-mail?

Oh, and thanks for the host offer. Once I get a better video I'll send it to you. I'll replace some of the media with scifi stuff too

OK thanks, and I'll email you tomorrow (gonna bed now) and that is one thing I would love to implement into MC, physics, also collision wont be a problem since I have NGC too. So I just need to know how to get ODE to control the objects.
Thank you for offering help.
P.S. I'm lovin that last pic (with the bullet collision going on) oh and I gave up on trying to download the video after the 4th time.
BTW, dont worry about changing the placeholders, it dosent bother me.

Sorry for double posting

But...

I have a slight problem with my sky box. I've asked for help in the DBP board already, but incase you look here and not there, here is the link. I've attached the same screenshot I did on the post showing the problem that occurs with the terrain. Check the thread for more details.

It looks really cool. The landscape looks really nice, and so do the 3D models. That music in the video sounds familiar

The models are from FPSC, mostly just as placeholders. The terrain is from the terrain example, I don't have anything to make my own yet. The music is from a site linked on the fourms somewhere.

I think your skybox there is blocking some light, do you have any lights in the level, try making the sky 1000 times bigger, thats what I did.

haha so does EVERY DBPro FPS game that uses advanced terrain and FPSC fill in weapons... whats the big surprise?

and there were alot more before "Modern Combat" that looked the same.

No wirres though still in development stages, looking good. better than my pimped out monster hunter game

I didn't make the terrain in geoscape, it was from the terrain demo, but I guess it might have been made in that program. Shame it doesn't seem to be available anymore, I would have bought it.

IF you have paint, photoshop, PaintShopPRO(or any other paint programs I forgot to mention) you can make terrain Not awesome terrain, but terrain nonetheless.

Ya, I was thinking that, I'm sure photoshop has some neat stuff to make some terrain, to be honest I'm just getting into it so I've never thought to see if there were any brush effects or anything to paint the perfect terrain

Well, photoshop isn't the best terrain program but it's okay nonetheless. Try the air brush for smooth hills
