...WOW.

I never expected this to be free. Not even at all. I was actually going to buy it for $20. Now, I have it for free!

Since I am designing an FPSC site, may I host an ad for you? No charge or anything.

Will this be 'forever' free or 'time-limited-availability' freedom?

@All:

From the start, I wanted to make Phoenix free to the community. I tossed and turned nightly because I didn't want to step on other guys' toes around here, but I decided that I cannot let that be an issue.

Phoenix is a good product and I want the FPSC community to have a free option for game protection. Most people never get to the marketing stage of their games, but they do produce demo games. Phoenix Standard is for the "demo guys" basically.

Phoenix Standard is free and will always be free. When you decide to market your game, get the Professional Edition or higher.

If you're making your game with DBpro or another language, you can get Phoenix Guardian and just use the online authentication system.

Anyway, thanks for the enthusiasm, the continued support and all of the wonderful comments.

All may not deserve this for free, but it's all for one and one for all around here as far as I'm concerned. We'll worry about the non-deserving later.

The error message "Invalid Registration Key" is only shown if 1) the key does not exist in the database or 2) the web application returns a non-matching string or null string.

Please copy the registration key from your email and paste it into the input box. If you still get an Invalid Key message please let me know. In the time being, FastBurst will investigate the issue server-side.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

It may have come to your spam inbox since it was sent from the server directly. We're working to resolve this. I have copies of all the emails sent, so if you didn't get yours, let me know and I'll forward it to you.

@Silent Thunder, I'm forwarding yours now...

@crispex: You need administrator access to install and run Phoenix because files are generated, copied, deleted; new directories are created, etc. within the filesystem of your computer.

You may be able to run Phoenix without these privileges, but I haven't tried it. Have you tried to install, or are you just going by the License agreement?

Okay, that's the installer saying it right? I can "turn off" that requirement in the installer for you and see if you can run Phoenix without Admin privileges....I'll email you a special installer in a few minutes....

@ m man - that is correct and you cannot have a shared drive that the game runs on for security purposes. DarkFact can address that more than I can.

Here's a patch (2MB). Rename it to yourgamename.exe (whatever your game name was originally) and overwrite the original. He won't get a play stopping error, but the error message will still be generated in the error.txt file. Please get the complete generated error and email it back to me.

Thanks,
