Sorry if its too late but I have a map thats coming along nicely that would be perfect for Z-mod. Could I hop on the beta testing bandwagon? Its perfectly understandable if you refuse though.

@dark peanut

Sorry but beta testing is under way and has been for a day or two. If you want you could wait for the release and then your map could be made, uploaded and posted on these pages.

@Beta Testers

Sorry about that. I accidentally moved the link. New one being sent out soon. (same wit the new manual)

Comment: The time for testing is over! This is the first Z-Mod Map to be made. It is on a very small scale, with only two rooms, to keep action at its highest. With five weapons and huds as well as a Zombie Crawler and new barrier scripts, the only thing it lacks is size. This map contains more detail than its predecessor.

sorry for the triple post, but in the manual it tells us the purchasing scripts are for use as "stencils".
does that mean we have to change them?

EDIT: *takes a big breath* ........I GOT IT OMG I FINALLY MADE THE BARRIER HUDS WORK *breathes out heavily*.......

Right jimmy. Calm down. The Barriers arent to difficult in my opinion, its just adding a script and setting them up so they cant be shot and destroyed, and so they stay still . I dont know why putting them in an A RTF suddenly makes the file with pictures so big. There just in an RTF so that everyone can open and read them

The map guys? Rating?

Concerning Map 2:

Rating: *

Review: No offense, but take that Crawler out! The room is way too small for it (and please don't replace it with another zombie) I couldn't survive one minute in that game and I tried it three times! Otherwise, the detail is cool.

hey arenas, i say we let dark peanut joi the beta-testing, he's been supportive of the zombie survival project and z-mod. so i say we let him do it.

to be honest i don't don't see why it can't be an open beta.

downloading your map now.

Alternatively you could just pick Beta testers who actually know how to use FPSC >.> It seems some of the people you picked (no names mentioned) are barely capable of opening the program up without having their hands held through the process.

P.S

I rate the map *

It didn't even open for me.

ZMod: Runtime Error 506 - Could not load image at line 265. CWD:C:\Program Files\F.R.A.G\Z-Mod Map 2\Z-Mod Map 2\Files
LOAD IMAGE databank\health1.png,5324

PBUM: The program can't start because d3dx9_35.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
DX: DirectX 11

Whilst I suspect error #2 may not be to do with ZMod, the first error seems to be a problem. And before you start pointing the blame at Windows 7/DX 11, other FPSC games run fine for me. Shadowfire's zombie map seems to run fine...

That is because the language file needs to be altered. I am going to get the newly edited language bank from Knxrb.

That is the entirely to do with your Direct X9.

Advise:

I would advise running the map with project blue. I don't see why it wont work in Z-Mod...

I am changing the download. This will take a while.

The manual and other downloads were changed last night.

This is just the Map 2 Download which is being changed now. The Crawler has been removed and the map is being edited slightly. Map 3 lighting is being tested (Extension onto map 1)

The map is being edited as well. I will include the language files when i get them do you dont need to re-download. You should try running it with project blue. There is no reason why that shouldn't work. Or you can put any mod you have in the file and run it with that.

@Arenas
Completely understandable just thought I might give it a try.

no hes refferng to me because i got confused with the barriors, but im sure if you, marc steene, were to try out the barrior system, which by the way is still not finished, then im sure youd find it as hard as i found it at the beginning.
especially when the manual (even the new one) was confusing in the barriors part.
i got confused because the manual (new and old), didnt show you what to edit in the barrior scripts, and no im not new to fpsc, (even though my forum join date is like a month ago, i just never used the forums) i have used fpsc for almost a year, but im newish to scripting so i didn't know what to do with the barrior scripts (which i have figured out now).

just because you didn't get a place in the testing marc, doesn't mean you can say everyone else is terrible so you can make it open beta or take their place.

on a happier note, i have finally figured out most of this mod so im starting on a map

hey arenas i played ur map and i give it **** stars (don't worry mods, that's a rating not a swear word)
the execution of it wa great, graphics were great, was definatelt re-playable, ammo quantity was realistic and not too overdone, (and the rate of getting money was PERFECT) also the ironsights in the project blue version were nice.

and would you beleive i found only 2 bugs: in the second room, the first zombie spawning area you see (near the ammo), seems to be glitched (zombies hardly ever if not NEVER come out of the spawn corridoor). secondly some blood decals stay in the air, creating invisible impassible barriors.

lastly i found one thing you could improve on: each zombie is a one-shot-kill, i don't now whether you made the weapon damage too high or zombie health too low but it seems as though buying weapons is a waste apart from being able to unleash great sound and visual effects from them as every gun only needs 1 shot to kill an enemy

anyway that's my rating so yeah, nice map

EDIT: also the hud showing the weapon icon and ammo is so far on the left its off screen

I was actually referring to one person. And it would probably be in the creator's best interest to make it open source. Oh yeah, as you're learning to script, you might want to learn how to spell. You don't want any broken scripts, do you?

calm down marc, I hope you do realise you are really offending me.
I actually do know how to spell, I just can't be bothered to type properly (I prefer to type fast to post fast), just so people like you don't pick on me. In case you didn't realise I could say the same about you;
Quote: "Wow, you're a real veternan, aren't you >.>"
.
And I hope that sentence you said about being a veteran (not veternan as your awesome spelling brain spells) was sarcasm because I was just simply pointing out that I wasn't a complete newbie, and yes 1 year may be small in comparison to how long you have been using the program, but we all start sometime don't we? And just because I started after you doesn't mean you are are any better. Even though you probably are better, you should help me out instead of putting me down , that way we can get this mod to you even quicker if Arenas doesn't want it to be open beta yet. Then we'll all be happy

Sorry for the tremendous time, I just downloaded Doom Builder.

Anywho, here's my review:

Rating: ****
Review: Way too easy, maybe make the Chaingun/P990/Elite a little weaker, because 1 shot kills are way too easy. Excellent level design, maybe another room would be nice

The reason that all weapons are one sot kills is to do with the mods. Every mod has a one shot kill head shot. I am going t ask Knxrb is he can change that, otherwise remove that feature.

Try running it with project blue. You get that error with Z-Mod as a language file needs to be added which will be in the final Z-Mod.

To all beta testers. The Zombie Destroy script is flawed as the zombies never die! They just freeze. I am sending the new scripts to all of you via email tonight. I am also uploading the newest version of the Z-Mod beta.

yay new scripts and z-mod beta. maybe you should make the next beta open (the one after this fix, or even this one), depending on whether you think it will progress faster.

EDIT: if you make it open this time marc will be happy and there won't be anymore fights

Maybe

I just played the map after fixing my DX errors. I have to say, I really didn't like it. **. The area was too cramped, and I fell through the map near the mystery box

I guess I'll post a short review before I go to sleep for the day, since I am a big Nazi Zombies fan.

I downloaded both zombie maps a few days ago, and they were indeed very...'Nazi Zombie-ish'. So it is good to see that this 'mod' is making progress. But I have to agree with Marc about the actual level design on these. I never fell through the maps, but the levels are way too cramped, and the second one is too dark to see what's going on most of the time.

On the second Z-Mod map, it was just way too confined, and the only way I was able to stay alive was to stockpile pistol ammunition at the beginning, and then jump on top of the shelves in the first room out of reach of the zombies and pick them off from there. The weapons seemed to be a one shot kill in most cases, and unfortunately, both maps seemed to get very repetitive after only a few minutes for me (probably because they were so small).

My Rating: ***

The levels need some work, bigger, and more open areas would be a good start, as well as brightening them up a little bit. But they do show off the features of the mod, which is what I guess they were intended for.

thanks kravenwolf.

Ok, just played the second map, i give it ***.

it was good, but for some reasons i didn't get all of the sounds (?)

anyway, it was still great fun to play but as kravenwolf said, way to cramped and 1 shot kills? not a very good idea. i'm hoping that we'll be able to make better maps once we get the increases in health and speed sorted.

Is there not a run with Project Blue (This is the second map)?

As far as the maps are concerned guys, Map 3 has taken into account all of the comments. It is more opened spaced, one of two weapons in each room and consists of several more rooms. It has a special feature in it that only those people who play it will realise. I am hoping to see if Knxrb is willing to alter the one shot kill problem. This also happens with Project Blue (One Shot Kills).
