32 USD including shipping.

Edit:
Your idea better not be a tutorial just after I paid for it...

You can always start with wings3d. I sucked bad at one time, years later I got way better. Just yesterday I finally migrated to Blender 3D for the last time, but this time I got way better. I had to youtube some tutorials on how to work the interface and basic controls. after that it's very easy for me. Someday I might get 3DS Max right now I'm on the free apps like blender 3D, Wings 3D, and a few others. I had to buy Milkshape 3D for like 20 USD. I'm planning to use the old ms paint, paint.net, or maybe gimp for my future texturing. so in the far future Adobe Photoshop and 3DS Max are in plans, but for now the free range is fine for me. Wings 3D couldn't do things that I wanted to optimize my model for. that's the only reason why I migrated. For now I might import my model over for repair on Blender 3D.

edit: here's my lastest 3d model exercise. 140 triangles. no where done. picture I used was randomly googled. if you own it I'm sorry. I'll take it down if you want me to. This is not for my project. This is merely for excercise purposes. I'm trying to hone my skills for Blender.

That sounds like a good price for a decent book...

haha no no no... I will post a new thread later today hopefully...

DevilLiger - Nice work there man... wish I could learn some of those apps someday... also CA... I might consider a trip there one day... SanFran Bay Area springs to mind...

All - I feel so ill lately and I feel some sort of dragging or dilly dallying going on lately [Zuru-Zuru] on my part, I must regain my focus asap!

@ MrValentine I've learned it from this one to help me on the interface and controls. It was easier than I thought.

edit: since I'm in Blender 3D. I'm looking into MakeHuman to cut off lots of time so I don't have to spend eons on modeling. I'm planning to reinstall DarkBASIC Pro and prototype a small city with the models with a basic set up like skybox after the model is near or done.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dow8SnAntiY&list=PL03BAC38A5E823407

here's a more updated progress. I messed up by merging all the wrong vertices. now I'm gone for good. Anyways I'm planning to remake my other model so I can see if the poly count is any better.

my other model I'm talking about:

DevilLiger - Awesome, looking forward to seeing that in action!
Very handy video series!
I think I saw that in another thread and I have already seen your thread too, no blue

TheComet - I suppose you are marginal at the moment then

I finally restarted more development studies, but the wrong direction lol For some reason I keep diving into Game Development studies automatically instead of Application Development

which is old...
but this is more recent...

I plan to buy the second book...

interesting books. I'll look into those. Thank god I saved it into a wishlist.

edit: my model as I imported into Blender was great. Took off doubles so Triangle count went down to 1954. It was previously 2040. I will post pics on other thread.

I'm editing my resolution a little. I think I bit off more than I could chew with my current project. so I'm going to do a smaller one for now.

But I am changing how complete it needs to be. It needs to be done by the end of the year, not just a demo.

I feel a little bad for putting it off again. But I feel like I need to learn a little more before I tackle such a big project. Plus when I look back I realized I've only completed two programing projects in my entire life. My zombie game 2 Weeks Later and Dynamic Sounds. I feel really good though. I have not had this much fun programing in a long time. and my new project is absolutely flying together. It feels really exiting.

so as of now...

I WILL COMPLETE my current game by the end of the year.

Hope to show you guys a build in a week or two.

Think god I'm already on texturing, but it's still on prototyping stage on the texturing phase. After it's 100% done I'm using the generic model to generate a bad guy to go along with her. After that the game project shall officially begin in programming. I should of planned it to begin programming phase way earlier.

Keeping things going, I like it! my things are seeing a hazy time at the moment, had a headache for weeks now and although I managed to do a lot of reading lately, it has not been enough and some projects landed in my lap, not too happy to be straying away from my game developments and app developments but hey-ho that is life...

Keep up the good work guys!

Just an update on my project. It's really coming along! The map editor is really sweet and easy to use. Just like a paint brush you select the tile you want and then just swipe over the land and it will turn into that.

I also added a feature to load a heat map. If you want you can draw an image in paint or gimp or whatever to get a basic layout for large maps. Just use the correct RGB color to make the general layout. then you can load it in and fine tune the details.

I'm going to try to wrap the editor up this week then start on the player interacting with the world.

I added a photo.

Update:

1) More exercise -> Still doing walks & cycling occassionally...not done this week's share yet.
2) Eat more healthily - cut out the rubbish -> Diets have presently failed. I've started with something new...if it works, I'll update.
3) Return to Karate and kick some butt...work towards my black for next year's grading -> Still not happened
4) Get a job in journalism/writing -> Still stuck in customer service
5) Build my kickass gaming PC, at long last -> This has been done
6) Complete a project, maybe Abeyance. -> I did some work on this last week, completion looks unlikely.
7) Finish my novel -> Also did some work on this last week, looking unlikely now.
8) Visit friends up North more often, I barely visited them 2012 -> I've not even visited yet this year. Still kept in contact online.
9) Drink more. I've been pretty teetotal in 2012 -> This I have done. This is actually another way of saying, "having more fun". Whilst I might not like my job, I like the people I work with and they're a social bunch and the company spends money on days/evenings out to reward our hard work. This natural involves alcohol. We're going out for a Curry & drinks this weekened. Also, I was pretty drunk in Germany for Wacken, particularly during Deep Purple & Rammstein. Good fun.

lol. wounder why you made that association.

For me the map editor is at a stable point that is useful. So I'm going to work on adding objectives now for the players to pursue.

not sure if I posted this or not, but this was my game project from Java. you might have to recompile it or something. I'm having a hard time running the class projects. lol so far I only had mines.

edit: if you get this project working. all you do is hit "attack" and it actually randomly gives you a number first and then AI a number. the higher one wins the attack. At first there was supposed to be a random turn so AI might be able to go first, but there wasn't enough time to do it.

Did I forget to post my resolutions ages ago? I thought I had posted them but maybe it didn't submit for whatever reason. I came here to update them but I guess I don't technically have to do that now.

Even though it's really late in the year, I plan to do the following:

1) - Get back to making videos (I recently helped a friend create this video, shot on my Galaxy S4. Hence the graininess!)
2) - Get back to playing my guitar, and learning epic songs like "Round and Round" by Ratt and "Panama" by Van Halen.
3) - Work on learning some more of C++/iOS Development
4) - Make something impressive (in any media format, video, song, game, whatever. I'm just going to make SOMETHING).
5) - Get the moves like Jagger!

On the side when I had time I made the first boss for today. This one needs to be textured as well. The hair will have to be textured separately. ugh...still no where near done with this upcoming game project. It'll totally launch production once I'm done with this model and the other one. Cool, reminds me of a game from a while ago, forgot the name but it was a 2 player game, where you played as cops... Fighting Force...

Can you see why it reminded me of that game?

how is your headache? Gone I would hope....

lol whoops, I made a big no no. I have no idea how I've missed it so long XD

basically I was using an array to store data for two completely different things. and the data for one would over right the other. Thank goodness it's a simple fix. but still. why did I use the same array name for both items?

That is looking like you are getting somewhere, but that banner, best remove or resize it, 600x120 is max allowed...

Are you planning to use any plugins? my DWS project is similar to what you are doing... somewhat...

Update for me on the diet front, I've lost 7.5lbs, or 1/2 a stone. I started Slimming World 2 weeks ago, the food's healthy, tastes good and fills you up, good news considering I've tried different plans finding they don't work or I gain weight (like with weight watchers). I'm pretty pleased with the start.

On the writing job front, still rejection letters sadly.

@ mr val

whoops. let me fix my banner then.

As of now Sparky is the only one I have. But I plain to add more, such as advance 2d and Comets "3D trail" thing to name a few. (well the only ones I can think of right now)

How is my project like yours?

@ Seppuku Arts

Congrats bro! you must feel real good physically and mentally

Sorry to hear about the writing. Oh well. Keep it up!

edit:

mmmm... I seem to have hit some kind of alpha transparency issue. Basically I have a grate over the ground, I chose a grate with an alpha channel so that way players under it could still be seen. however objects (or part of the object) that you see though the grate only seem to be half drawn. But the original object that each texture belongs to is drawn fine. I added a photo.

I wasn't sure either to link my other thread or post the pic, but anyways here is the pic of my wip 3d model I've been working on sometimes when I do have time. lol 1500 triangles right now. the shoulder pads is still being worked on. The original concept she is black and grey, but at one time I wanted her to be white and black. I might go for more of the first concept and make her grey. more like gunmetal grey or something along grey.

Guys I have some fantastic news to share... I have sold my shop!!!!!!!

Which means more time for my projects, unfortunately there is still a two week transitional period to go... I will be buying a Surface Pro 2 as soon as pre-orders are available, will be the ideal development tool for me

Has anybody here got Windows 8 yet? I could use some testers soon
