Yeah I got them in the right order the first try but Mr. Philbert McTwitch you completely missed my point that it might be obvious to someone like me with two decades of programming experience, but you might want to make it a little more obvious for all of your customers.

always wondered about people having problems with VS6 and debugging - i have never had a single problem with it through several formats and fresh installs o.O debugging has always worked grand, I would be dead without it.

I dont sell it - so they're not my customers. And thats what help files are for - to help setup things. In addition there is also a FAQ too.

Come to the last Unofficial DBPro Convention (http://convention.logicstudios.net/)
Dont do anything I wouldn't do. But if you do, take pictures.

Ah ok, just a moderator then, not a dev. Well glad to hear that, Lee and the rest of the gang have always been kind and helpful to me, not condecending.

Ah glad to hear that Seph, that there is hope for debugging mode and vc6. I have some HUGE programs in dbPro I was hoping to convert and if I can get debug going perhaps I still will. So which version of directXsdk did you use sucessfully? I went with the Oct 2005 since that was mentioned above as the latest that worked. Any different recommendation? And your winAPI tutorial looks great, going to download it now. Perhaps I'll do an MFC one if I can get it going.

Thanks

EDIT: Dang, your menus and dialogs winapi demo doesn't seem to be available for download anymore. Do you have a new link?

What is it? Maybe i just didnt read the page all the way. It looks like they are dropping it.

Well, if they don't support it, i am in need of it (considering it's faster, and easy to use). So, how much is this MS Compiler? And do i have to download it, or will they send it to me? And if it is for download, how large is it? I'm not downloadin' nothin over 20megs. It looks like DGDK is about (calculating compression) 112mb. If so, my 56k won't accept it, and i won't be able to download it.

The VC2005 compiler is free ... that's the good news.

The bad news is that to use it you'll need the compiler, the latest platform SDK, and probably the latest DirectX SDK - all coming in at a hefty 1.27 gig in the worst case.

@Seph,
I've deliberately taken a 1 day timeout before replying, as I was getting rather heated about the whole thing.

I don't agree with you and you don't agree with me, so let's leave it there and agree to disagree with no hard feelings (Darn, I wish that last sentence didn't sound so abrupt)

VRman3D: yes sorry that server is dead atm, goto this topic: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=81787&b=22 and scroll down until you see the post from Mir where he kindly attached the tutorial to it, you can grab it there

IanM sorry you felt the need to take a day out. Although, just to further antagonize () I have to say imho there is no reason for people to get heated during the process of normal discussion or even debate and the saying "lets agree to disagree" is just another wording for "i've run out of logical things to say to back up this point but i'll be damned if im switching to yours", hehe

okay antagonizing aside one thing we can both agree on im sure is that these boards arnt the place for a huge debate and even if they are we arnt going to acheive anything, so lets all be friends and i'll drop it now and I am *sincerly* sorry if I really did upset you, it was never my intention.

I didn't think it was meant to.. The purpose of the thread was to determine if Visual Studio 6.0 support would be dropped from the next DGDK release. Clearly, Lee has his answer.

Paul.
