I really don't like the Favorite Fact thing GatorHex, you should only use that if the person wants their password cuz they forgot it.

Keep up the great work.

I did have 246! It was a bug, because Gator was using a byte to store the xp, so 246 + 20 = 10

Oh, ok I see, I thought Gator gave you tons of points as a joke.

Well that's why I always use dword for in game quantities, arcade games make me so mad when they limit your money to 255... or worse, let it roll over to 0.

Don't worry you not lost your exp, im not storing a byte im just transmitting one

[UPDATE]

Fixed a byte/int bug so Diggsey/Code Dragon can show off their exp

Made the client CPU friendly so Diggsey/Code Dragon can leave it running in the background waiting for another player to join

Diggsey/Code Dragon play A LOT!

The download doesn't seem to want to work properly. The first time I downloaded it it was apparently a 4MB file, and WinRAR told me there was an unexpected end of archive. I tried downloading it again, this time it said a 7MB file, and gave the same error.

Downloading again...

[Edit] Both the game and the updater crash on me when I open them. Cool.

Hold off playing for a while i think something i did in the last update has made the server/client crazy.

I think sync sleep 1 has made the code lazy and it's like it's missing things like collision and net messages :/

To help those who have password problems I made this...

http://81.174.154.100/cgi-bin/war/recovery.pl

let me know if it helps or not

Don't forget passwords are case sensitive.

You're stuffed if your on dynamic IP. Ask me to email it to you. if anyone has a free DOS SMTP util let me know and I'll setup an auto e-mail system.

Tried again. Says only this:

Wierd some people can use it. Are you sure you don't use a web cache or proxy server? Maybe you have FULL STEALTH on a firewall somewhere hiding you IP address.

Try this IP redirector i have...

http://bulldog.servegame.com/cgi-bin/war/add_user.pl

to see if it's any better.

To test it i just made a second account for myself no problems.

I got the latest but it says the exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Under information, the modname is dbprosounddebug.dll. I don't think this is a code error necessarily.

I can only think it's an old version of DirectX 9.0c. On the client download page I have a link to DirectX 9.0c Jun 2007 Full Runtime (no certified product vadidation required) at the top.... http://www.kumkie.com/war/clientdownload/clientdownload.htm

By the way, don't run Update.exe, like somone told me they were doing today, it's not for the user to use it's only for the client program to use. I'll have to think about renaming it!

Quote: "It still says "Please wait connecting to server..." "

maybe you have a firewall blocking it? I've only seen it stay there if the server was down, and the server has been up all the time.

[Uploaded a new version that prompts for firewall access and displays what the login system is doing]

or the latest client

Ah, there's the problem.

I have the latest version of DirectX (June 2007). However the Sound portion of DBP always screws over, as I have lost my speakers / connection cords, and it causes DirectSound to fail initialization. :/

Losing cables shouldn't cause a sound failure, maybe you don't have a sound card driver installed that might bugger it.

ok went to Uni today and tested it from the other side of my router..

Making an account - worked
High Score - failed, but i've fixed it now
Running client without DirectX 9.0c failed (as expected)
Running client with DirectX 9.0c almost worked
- Checking for updates over port 80 was ok
- Connecting to the server failed, i assume port 3999 is blocked at uni.

I'll look into a drop the 3D sound option. Also the game requires a shader 2 compatible graphics card, i don;t think i have time to make an option to disable it.

pretty cool stuff, i just tried it out, too bad nobody was on what time do you guys play?

some suggestions:
*collision with various objects like houses and bridge sides
*shells that explode
*infantry and artillery id love to be able to choose a character at the start of the game in either an infantry, tank or artillery division and then get access to better weapons as experience increases hehe
