And this is my refrence for that picture I did of myself on a Vespa.

Edit: @Clbembry, I think you were talking to me, though I'm not sure since someone already responded to you... but yes, I drew that with pencil then ink, and colored it in Photoshop.

Yay! Attention! And positive!
If I had a scanner it would look better than that as I had to take a picture of the picture with a 10 year-old digital camera.

@Grandma, more attention, as a minor critique!!! Did you do that from life or a photograph, and is it charcoal or graphite? The face is very nice, though the hair gets a bit flat. Also it MAYBE could use a few brighter highlights. Very good though with the modeling on the face.

@lazerus, the cats are nice, though the guy could use some work. Judging from your Meghan Fox's though, you can do much better now.

@Clbembry, ah ok, good to clear that up.

I've got something that goes with the whole comic thing...

There are more comics in the gallery if you click on them, these are a few of the comics I've done for my college newspaper.

Ya...Oh no!

It's graphite, mostly from imagination. Only reference used was a 'similar' photograph in the beginning to make sure the proportions weren't way off so it could at least have a chance of looking slightly human.

The hair, I've never been good with hair, though I've only drawn 3 portraits with no previous drawing experience. If you have a few tips, that'd be cool. I don't know what to do about it. How to improve it... should I curse at the drawing? Throw cats at it? I have access to a dog if they are more effective.

Edit: I'm so getting Zelda: curse of the eternal budget meeting.

@Grandma, Generally artsy folk seem to have cats, so I'd go with the cat. The dog I'm afraid may make the hair worse. Though if you're willing to use the pencil to improve the hair, I would say try an copy it strait from a picture. Hair generally changes shade, and has weird highlights where it folds around. Like everything else, the shading changes with how much light is on it, and also hair is sometimes shiny, and reflects. The best way to get it down it to copy from a picture or from life, really.

@Bizar Guy

But I don't want to copy her hair, it's repulsive. It would be more of a 'personal' drawing and something to be proud of if I didn't directly copy things. I guess I'll make another one and quasi-copy someone else's hair and hope I learn from it.

I just got back from a walk. I almost cried in disbeliefe on it though. I was heading home, after wondering around for awhile. I have my ipod blasting Tell Me by Ra. THe song lyrics consist of a guy asking the sky for direction in his life. While listening to the song, I get the strongest urge to pause it and stop walking, so I do. As soon as I stop it, the train horn goes off way in the distance behind me. I turn around to face the sound, and about half way through my turn, I see a lone light turned on in the distance. Without realling knowing what Im doing, I head over to it. Its around the other side of a building though, so it took me a little while to get there. Im getting close though, and the light it coming from a wall light on a building on a hill. I climb up the hill, and look to my right. And what do I see but the moon hardly coming over the top of the treeline! It was pretty darn full too! The moon has been getting lower and lower in the sky, so I hadnt been able to see it clearly before. When I saw it, tears of amazement came to my eyes. Not kidding.
