Looks pretty neat Pilz X Schizo! Another complete and cool looking entry!

I've been working on a bug for hours now, but will have to give it a rest as it is early morning lol. So still not complete here, but I'm sure I will get it sorted with a fresh head tomorrow.
I also have a video but too late to put it up at the min.

Well, it looks like I'll be dropping out of this one... but I have a very good reason. I got a JOB! A real JOB! After looking for over a year, it finally happened... but I'll keep an eye on the forums for more contests! Good luck to all the entrants, I see some cool stuff there!

Here's a demo of DarkVee's, The Slayer's and my game. My busy time schedule slowed the works down a bit but it's almost done. There are a few things that need polishing which we'll apply over the next few days. Let us know what you think and enjoy!

Edit- Attachment removed. Latest version here

Yeah, as Hodgey said, there are a few minor things that need to be fixed, like the Highscores, for instance. The main menu shows a 'Load Game', which is actually the 'Highscores' option. So, if you want to see the Highscores, then choose the 'Load Game' option in the main menu. Also, the Highscores screen needs polishing, and a few other things.
We have plans to add more features (powerups, difficulty level, etc...) after the comp.

We hope you like the game, and please, let us know if there are any bugs you encounter.

Cheers

Nice demo Hodgey, Slayer and Dark Vee! Seems really good. I like the music and graphics also. Lack of joystick control, was a bit of a handicap for me, I hate using keyboard controls for anything other than typing, and the odd 3d game. So I've only had the one go so far.
One thing I would say from the demo is the web is kinda hard to see when it fades down as it does. Of course my eyes aren't great, but I am on a 30" monitor screen, and I would imagine it would be worse on a phone screen. So I just tried to not travel over my own trail too much and sort of hoped not to fall through. It worked but I never knew when I was going to drop through, until I dropped through lol. Still looking good!

I have the video for you to all see ready now. It's a little shaky as I used my phone rather than fraps for a change. I also kept trying to follow the snake and having to stop myself, lol.

@Hodgey, The Slayer and Dark Vee: Very nice twist on the Snake Concept. Great to see you all work good as a team. I'll have to try it again when I have access to a better computer, this GFX card does not like AppGameKit / OpenGL.

@DVader: Nice video, I really like the Snake death effect / sound.

Quote: "Lack of joystick control, was a bit of a handicap for me"

Joystick support didn't occur to me, probably because I don't have one to test it on which makes it a bit hard.

Quote: " the web is kinda hard to see when it fades down as it does. "

I agree with you there, we're going to make the web more visible.

Quote: "So I just tried to not travel over my own trail too much and sort of hoped not to fall through. It worked but I never knew when I was going to drop through, until I dropped through lol."

And that's what makes the game fun, it becomes a bit like a minefield. You never know when you are finally going to drop.

Thanks! I failed to say earlier but I was very impressed with your game. I love the 360 degree movement.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated!

Good job guys, I have received an entry from Pilz X Schizo but not an official version from the darkvee / Slayer / Hodgey team. I am happy to count the version posted though just this once if we don't get another version as long as it contains code

This competition is getting hot!

Once we've made a few final adjustments we'll send the code and app right over baxslash. The demo posted earlier was to show you what we've done and receive some feedback.

Iam not working on it anymore as i went back to the original raycaster
It worked on my bad zte skate with an 800 mhz cpu so it should work on an iphone 1ghz dual core

All my efforts goes to the original raycaster now.

Thank you, The Slayer
I would really like to thank you for letting me join the team Hodgey and The Slayer. This is the first team I ever been with that I have made a game with. It proofs I can work with a team and complete a game. So this project had some real meaning to it. I reach one of my goals. I was able to work with a team and complete a game. It's been an awesome team. I really like all the ideas we had and how we were able to work as a team and transfer it into the game as we imagined for it to be. I would like to thank Hodgey and The Slayer for excellent work. So now lets get some popcorn and coke and lets wait on the judges! This is going to be an awesome show.

Wow - All the entries so far look great, excellent work everyone.

Sadly (for me) they have great media; pumping sound and excellent graphics, so I'm hoping this doesn't count against my modest attempts.

Some nice Innovation too, I may have hobbled myself in going for the traditional "Snake eats fruit and gets longer" rework.

My contribution is a sedate affair - I wanted to take the original and improve upon it - but keep to the original design.

So there is a puzzle mode as well as the traditional "arcade" game.

Anyway, excuses out of the way, I'm just about done - subject to some final code tweaks and a general tidy up.

Here's a demo

Unlike many of the entries so far, this is designed for phones not tablets, but if you change the display sizes in setup.agc, the game will scale accordingly.

It still has diagnostics at the start and frame rate bar on the left for measuring performance while I tweak, but they shouldn't get in the way.

Code to follow when it's tidy.

Actually, me and baxslash judge the best app. We have separated code judgements.
We both can judge Tier 1 / Tier 2 front end, but separately check back end. Hope it's clear now.

Just noticed that the version of Snackantula The Slayer uploaded has the resolution set to quite a small size so here's a version with a larger screen size (1024*768) for those who would like it.

Edit - replacing attachment..

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I would have posted sooner, but have been busy with last minute additions and bugs, still yet to get them sorted So cutting it a little fine at the min. Hence not much time to look at the forums at the moment.
All the entries are looking good so far.
@bashslash, heh, the Tron version is the only one I tried But not really got time to be testing the other entries now Until I have mine complete.

IF ANYBODY WANTS JOYSTICK SUPPORT SEE THE ATTACHED DOWNLOAD.
It's a freeware lightweight app that emulates a keyboard or mouse input on just about any gamepad/joystick/etc device. In other words, play any game you want with your gamepad. Just thought it may help with the games on PC. If anyone get's confused by the interface, mail me so as not to steer this thread off-topic (or hijack it).

Apologies again, baxslash, was typing quickly as I was in a rush to get back to coding. Twice I've managed a typo on your name now!
Still going on the game though, one (hopefully) final problem to be solved ( a nasty sneaky one, that I hope I have now pinpointed) and I'm done, bar tidying and getting a less messy folder together. Will have to play test it a bit more to be sure though. I've probably play tested it 5 times longer than I've spent coding so far. I sometimes play a game all the way through, and then realize I got so involved with the score, I forgot to take notice of the feature or bug, I was actually testing for lol.
I really hope to get it complete tomorrow, or later today now I don't want to leave it till the last day, unless I am in trouble lol.

Edit - Oh the comment about joystick support was more a nudge for it to be put in natively
