Ashingda 27 - that is more like it! awesome! I wish I was on top of Shaders, but I fear it may be some time before I get around to it...

Southside Games - Did you notice Version 7 above? ^^

Everyone -

Here are the final two Enviro maps!

This little bugger is quite interesting as you can tile it to create a massive matrix of tunnels!

This beauty is a smoothened out huge terrain, how huge? the mesh is approximately 250~MB however thankfully the Height Map is considerably smaller coming in at just about 3~MB! a 1024x1024 beauty! forgot the specifics, but the mesh is a 16x16 grid, as oppose to 32x32 which would have taken me all night to sculpt and smoothen out... and 65535 height and 4 levels of detail, and forgot the rest, tired now...

I think that is me done I might have a look at creating a Web based High Score shared site... following one of Hockeykid's tutorials... and then tomorrow get cracking on with WordPress Theme Design...

On Friday I will get into AppGameKit, by way of Daniel TGC's new book, which you can see in my banner

Oh Well, Winners, be sure to inform me of your success by 00:01 GMT UK Time on the 1st of February 2013 to be in for a chance to pick your prizes should you still want them after my shoddy work efforts

Ah, I just remembered I have to put together a video on YouTube to show the textures and SFX's... hmm... Will post back later!

cool water bro.

@MrVal

what do you mean?

@all

I don't know about you. But tomorrow I'm coding like there's no tomorrow... Because there is not in terms of days I can code for this contest.

@MrValentine
Thanks, I have just started touching shaders myself is not as complicated as it first appeared. Nice structures there, I still haven't even started with building yet and not sure when I'll pick it up.

As for myself, I'm also done! This year's run is interesting, sure learned alot in a short amount of time, gotta love InGaCreMo . Now gotta get ready for work

Last bit of updates: Reflections

I guess that means I'm the last one. no one else seems to post in this forum.

the remainder of my project is up to the mercy of the code. I've decided to cut the RPG for now and just make the second player, pistol, and zombie work. hopefully the shotgun as well. But we will see.

Wow! Wow! loving those textures and sounds! Thinking about all the things I can do with em. I really think I can continue this project after this. It's hard not to keep it going once you get a good push.

WOW! Thank You! was not expecting that!

My Content creation will be on hold for a while, but will get a kick with animated sprites! Animated Characters and such... I want to create some 2D games for a while... 2D is where I am lacking...

Get picking, oh I forgot to say, to select your textures just tell me the time frame and where in the 5 positions it is located, and the SFXs just give me the name, and for the models just pick from up above and I will pack them to you, just need to send me an email...

For the music, pick any of the above tracks aside from Volcanic DNB which is reserved for my projects

I hope these do help... and I plan to learn more about Texture creation and seamless texture creation too... those first two textures, the brick ones are tile-able!

EDIT

OH forgot to mention, half of the textures are in .PNG format and half in .JPG , and some, specially the glassy looking ones are transparent!

Example:

I am thinking of redoing the algorithm at some point though. Since outputting more debugging data I've found a few issues with it.

Something I've learned about procedurally generated "art" is that one of the hardest and most important parts of the process is producing decent colour-scheme that works with the data. I saw it as an after-thought before but now I realise it's integral to producing anything that looks remotely "natural".

Meanwhile...

Ah I thought it was a google docs, but anyway it does not allow what I believe is called Cross Domain viewing or simply external viewing...

In short, we cannot see that image right now...

Southside Games - That red circle looks familiar >.<

Also wow, I have been thinking to play with Split Screen, but I figured I would never get the aspect ratio correct, I must ask you soon to help me with it, I aim for 4 Split... will be programming 4 joy pads in too!

@ all - WoW, what a month, on the very last day I manage to get so much done... I succeeded in my MySQL + PHP endeavour... I got DBPro to interact with a Database via PHP! Thanks so much to Hockeykid!

I will likely launch a site regarding the process in a few weeks, if anybody is interested in this, just ask me...

PROTOTYPE IS RELEASED - DOWNLOAD IT NOW

PonyCraft_Prototype_x86
PonyCraft_Prototype_x64

Tips
*Press attack (hotkey: "T") and then click on the ground to target any enemies in that area
*Middle mouse button can pan the camera
*It's easier to look around by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen
*Use the hotkeys for commands (they are on top of the buttons)
*CTRL+<number> will create a control group. If you press <number>, you will select the units you added to the group again.

Well, I think I just finished the prototype. I'm done with DBP, aside from some very minor bug fix requests, I'm not going to develop this any further in DBP.

So please give this a test, tell me if the updater system works for you or not, and let me know your thoughts on the game so I can make it better in C++.

[EDIT] If your browser decides to open the link above as a text file and you get a huge amount of random characters, just press CTRL+S.

I'm happy I reached my goal for NaGaCreMo'13.

How big is your project? I'd just attach it here. If it's too big, you might want to figure out how to manage it's size without effecting the program.

[edit]
I believe resource management is very important, learned a great deal of it while doing 2D programming. My current project size right now is at 9mb at most and that includes the exe.

By the way congrats on finish. Will you also be continuing it after? Also dont forget to get your prize from Mr Valentine.

@TheComet - Congrats man... I'll check this out in a bit and let you know.

I'm just getting together a scene demo using my music api and IrrLicht now. The FPS in DBP was a tad slow and already I'm getting 180+ with the fft-spectrum terrain.

@MrV - Will you be having a thumbnail section on your website of all your work?

@Southside - Loving the split screen. Never tried it before...

@Ashingda - Keep it up. Excellent progress.

@Obese - Might have to borrow your brains for some of those algorithms some time soon.

WLGfx - Nope not for the time being... Just the screens above which if you check the properties of or try to save them should show their names... I probably should go back and edit the names into the posts later tonight if I remember to...

Also the YouTube video showcases the textures and SFXs with names but not the textures right now... Just specify the time and position top left, top right, middle, lower left, lower right and I will package them up... See selection guidelines above on phone right now... As I am at my shop... And too lazy to sign in on the pc lol...

I may add a named texture gallery soon... I have a Forum Files Depository to create so I may use that... But I dunno... It can be that I show them at full res but with a logo embedded... So you can see the whole texture... Yes I am hungry and tired right now...

Speaking of said Project I might make headway on that right now...

Good call. It's only 15MB when I remove old debug stuff and old models that I did not use.

@ WLGfx

Thanks bro. That's why I was so sure I wanted to add it. I almost dropped it for time reasons. But I though it would be cooler to add it then anything else.

@ Mr Val

Quote: "I have been thinking to play with Split Screen, but I figured I would never get the aspect ratio correct, I must ask you soon to help me with it, I aim for 4 Split"

I wish I could say I made an awesome mathematical arithmetic with my super brain. But really all I did was this.

@all
I'm going to be the first to tell you not to expect a lot from my project. I had to cut so many corners. some of the menu items don't do anything. Such as the increases in health and damage. So set it to what you want them to be from the start.

Also I did not have time to code dieing for the player. the game will just end if ether one losses all there health.

Zombies are not animated at all.

hit marks only work for player two when in split screen.

I also have no plans to continue this project. The code is so messy. I though that because it was a small project I could get away with cutting corners. I was wrong

though I'm glad I finished. Now I can say I did not give up on the monster I created.

So please give me feedback and what you think might be useful. Don't tell me things I already know!

@Southside - The easiest way to avoid 'messy' code is to split your code into separate files when you're adding something new. For just a simple demo that I do, it could end up having ten source files, but, it is so much easier to handle the variables and the functions that way...

That is actually how I did it. What I meant is my code is very hardwired and I did not use arrays to there full potential.

I'll have to reboot into windows to check out the code and see what suggestions I can come up with.

Another thing I do, especially with DBP is to assign numbers to variables when using textures, objects, etc. I don't then have to rely on remembering the ID's.
