Hi all,

Current total (Kickstarter + Paypal);
As of 11th August
======
£36,777
Stretch Goal #1 - FUNDED!
Stretch Goal #2 - FUNDED!
Stretch Goal #3 - FUNDED!
Stretch Goal #4 - FUNDED!

Stretch Goal #5 - not reached.

There is now a two week period where Kickstarter try to take the pledged money. We expect some dropout from the Kickstarter total. So the final raised amount will be announced later in the month.

We will review how we can work towards making the windows mobile 8 version. Maybe we continue the pledges direct from TGC or start a new Kickstarter for that later on.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us. We'll get to work next week on the rewards.

======

You can still pledge direct to TGC:
Direct TGC Pledge Page

Thanks,

Rick, Paul & Lee.

also i might have a meeting with EA about project Nano 1.23
so i might be able to visit you in the UK ... but im just guessing they still havent returned to me... (email sent yesterday to Dice and Ea Games IR dep) so if so i would love to meet you just to get the feel of it.

I seem to be the only backer so far

Tell as many people as you can and let's see if we can't make AppGameKit the biggest and best game making tool out there!

I tried to back the project earlier (despite my lack of funds, I thought it was going to be £40 minimum), however it only takes credit card? I was hoping to use a debit card as I don't have a credit card.

i would invest in the "early bird" $39 if you would support paypal.

for me, i would only gain a couple of 2d command features, as i do not use T1, I use Spriter instead of Spine and i don't plan to be on Ouya.

Question: if the Kickstarter would be fully funded, will you be offering a v2 upgrade option to current v1 users?

Hi,

If and when we reach the 5K mark we will take direct payments via paypal. We don't want to take non-kickstarter payments until we know the project will be funded to some level. We'll keep a global value of Kickstarter and Paypal payments so we know exactly what has been backed and can be developed.

There will be a V1 to V2 upgrade option but for now we need to focus on this funding round.

Thanks to everyone who has backed us so far! It's very much appreciated.

For the record, I would suggest remaking the video.

Why?

Because of this line:
"If you use languages such as C++ or Xcode ..."
Xcode is not a language it is an IDE and so that line is no different to:
"If you use languages such as C++ or Visual Studio ..."

It makes no sense at all and I think to anyone that doesn't know TGC's track record they would assume you have no idea what you are talking about and you would lose all credibility as programmers/game creators.

Just saying.

I was wondering if you could further help your initiative, by sending a press release (or something like a small newsflash) to mobile apps review sites (or other development-news sites/publications).

I will definitely be pledging but I must say I was a little disappointed to find no official support for Spriter.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback Scraggle - can you tell I'm a Tier 1 user only? I'm not great in front of the camera, so remaking the video will be a pain. We'll see how the first 48 hours go.

There is a press release which we'll be sending out now.

Full Ouya support, that made me smile I am so in and I will help to promote this in the Ouya community. I hope you get at least £15'000. That would take AppGameKit to where it really needs to be. The 3D stuff is also very nice.

I think you should mention the final price of V2. Right now there's only a small mention that you will save money on this. Knowing that you will save money, and how much, is a strong incentive for backers. "I pay for it now, and I save this much" has to weigh more than "I can just buy this when it's out".

When I was about to pledge, KS added £3 to my total because I live outside UK and it expects me to pay for shipping. If I back a digital only tier I should not have to pay extra. I know you can't alter the tiers but you need to add this information to the FAQ if people doesn't have to add $3 for digital only rewards.

I am curious about the crib sheet. But there's no information about this in the description. People want to know what they get for their money. An image (like a 3D render) and a description will help you sell this to backers.

Anyway, you just made my day

BTW, waiting for your reply on my questions before I pledge.

I just put my pledge in.

@DVader
You can pledge using a debit card. I've done this with three other successful projects and the money's gone through without a problem.

Backed !

(I think the actual 3D abilities (ex: the actual 3D example provided in AGK) should have been shown in the video for everyone interested to make 3D games... to show that 3D is not an "eventuality" but already a reality in AGK.

Edit : (i just saw the Cliff dungeon Game in the video sorry ^^

Anyone knows what happened to payments through Amazon for Kickstarter? That's how it worked last time I pledged for anything.

Never mind. Found that it's because it's a UK project.

Possibly a daft question, but will v2 effectively be a new product and not a free upgrade to existing customers?

I just backed the project but it feels a bit strange to buy a version 2 since I don't have version 1. There are a few months between the Kickstarter funding period ends and version 2 is released to it would be nice if version 1 was included in some of the pledges.

You don't need to add the extra £3 when backing digital only tiers. You can specify that you want delivery to UK.

Backed.

Incidentally Rick IMHO the official AppGameKit website is doing you no favours at all.

With no news page it's impossible to tell if the language is still alive and being developed or has been completely abandoned.

And with no link to these forums there's no sign of any active AppGameKit community at all.

These are the first two things any potential new AppGameKit user will want to know about and I bet most come to the conclusion that neither exist and chosen a different language.

The $20,000 stretch goal to get animation support was a very big disappointment to read for me, to say the least. I’ve been patiently awaiting animation support since the first 3D commands arrived, and excitedly awaiting it since it was posted awhile back on the boards that it would be making its way into the next free update.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this, of course, but I probably won’t back it until I see that animations and some of the other “stretch goal” features are a lock. Of course, that’s assuming the current plan is “if we don’t hit that stretch goal, kiss everything in it goodbye!” But if those things will still make their way in an update sometime down the road, then I’d be more than happy to reserve my copy.

@Rick, a lot of talented people here are hoping to see this campaign succeed, and I was wondering if TGC and the AppGameKit community had ever considered taking a page out of the FPS Creator community's playbook and pitching in on some type of a community model pack?

Some members could contribute a small media pack they can put together on their own, and all of those contributions could be thrown into one promotional bundle and sold on the TGC homepage and all proceeds from this collection would go to fund the Kickstarter? Just a thought.

That sounds like a great idea, Selling something the size of the FPSC community packs for 10-20£ could probably bring in a fair amount of money. And there are a lot of tallented people here that could do something for it.

You've got my money! The campaign is already up to £3k!!!

@Zoq2 and Kravenwolf - awesome idea. The current UCF is a bit vanilla.

@Fog - you're not crazy I think that Jim is looking at thegamecreators.com the appgamekit.com website should definitely have a news page showing all of the awesome beta releases and a very visible link ot the forums. The About, Platforms, and BASIC pages could easily be combined.

Pledged! It's doing great so far. Like some of the other users, I was a bit surprised that 3D animations are now part of the stretch goals, instead of 'core functionality' in the current iteration of AGK. Also, I was secretly hoping that some tiers would come with 3D model packs,or 2D art-packages etc. Anyway, these are minor things... I wish you guys a lot of luck!

Hi,

On the main AppGameKit site we have now published a road map for AppGameKit development. I am copying the road map below too.

Let us know your thoughts.

Rick

--------------------

AGK Development Roadmap

We're currently beta testing V1.08 and are now close to completing that work.

Following this version we will roll out these new features;

3D Animation support (bone based 3D models)
"AGO" 3D format
Shader commands
Faster Compiler
Debugger
Improved help files

Once these are in place the product will be considered a stable version and will become a full commercial version costing $99.

All existing users will gain all these updates for free.
"

I am gobsmacked.

Hi,

If you have pledged today:- THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! Paul, Lee and I are amazed by your great support.

I think it will also help if satisfied AppGameKit users can post positive comments onto the Kickstarter COMMENTS page.

We have had to change our roadmap plans and the Kickstarter seemed the best route for all concerned. While we have not been able to bring all the features we initially planned to, we have been working very hard to improve AGK. It's a huge project which needs a lot of care an attention. No sane developer would make sure a tool!

You put BASIC IDE upgrades underneath Ouya support as a stretch goal. That dampened my enthusiasm but I still pledged.

Note: What is the 3 pounds for shipping outside the UK? Is there a printed manual and CD this time?

This is so unfair, it's 6 hours earlier in Mexico... I'd say, I live in the past!

I went to the kickstarter site and for silver and gold backers, almost 85% of the total available seats were taken.

Anyways, just wanted to say:

You guys need to submit your Kickstarter news to Kotaku and Boingboing if you haven't already. Kotaku might like the Ouya stretch goal enough to give you some air time. Boingboing might like the home-brew indie aspect.
