Which prefix is it that's winding you up?

I mentioned it before [Subject Prefix]

[TGC Forum] Thread Activity in:

Simply not required at all...

EDIT

We discussed it being fine if it was simply "Thread Activity in: " at the very least ditch the TGC FORUM part

The beta forums have been closed down for the moment.

It is not worth the time altering the very outdated forum code that is currently being used, it is a mess. I am more interested in developing a new code base now that is written from scratch to do what the current forum does plus all the extras people wanted, but does it in a way that doesn't produce the messiest code ever!

A new forum will return for testing but it will launch over at the FPSCR boards first, around the Steam launch time.

I will alter the subject line for notification emails.

Aww, I really liked the style on the betaforum compared to the regular

Same, is there any reason the beta forum couldn't stay up whilst working on the new version?

Ew no, I didn't like the beta forums visual style at all. It was all shiny, out-of-proportion and MASSIVE (what's the point of high-res screens if people just make everything bigger?). The colours were awful too; way too vibrant. It was extremely generic.

In short, I really love the pixel-art style of the live forums.

I agree, it was stable enough for me to use it for a few months without issue so I don't see why the current version couldn't remain up for now

The reason the beta forum has been closed is the TGC forum is planned to be moved to our new server setup. It is far easier to organize moving just one site than both at the same time.

I'm super-curious: Do you guys host your own servers (like, in a physical room you can walk into), or do you rent servers (which obviously would be in a physical room also, but you couldn't just walk in)? If telling me is somehow a security issue than I'd understand

It is not practical to actually host the servers for TGC on-site or by renting space in another data centre, paying system admins to support servers full time is very costly not to mention the need to run backup systems.

We use various dedicated server hosts based in a few countries including Germany, USA and UK

We are now moving most services over to Rackspace who can offer a much bigger network and servers world wide without the extra cost that would take before with the old hosts.

Hey The Next, noticed FPSC Reloaded in the drop down menu, but it leads to hidden page... just making sure you are aware of this...
