PS. To mods, this is appropriate, just run it through a translator and you'll see.

PSS. Peut-être personne comprends mes messages parce qu-ils sont de la folie.

So...
The 7th level is closed now.
The last touch on it was the addition of some sounds & special effects that are visible in the 2 pics below.

Answering to Manticore Night, here's the answer:

Kalimée is a game where the player discovers a surrealistic world walking around the levels.
There is NOT a unique way to play, but severals.

1 - Solving at least ONE puzzle in the level (where each time a screen explains HOW to play to solving it). Naturally the puzzles are more difficults to solve when the level increases.

2 - Player can VISIT the level just looking around. In fact, the game is also a compilation of many artworks done especially for Kalimée by a various digital artists. I would like to achieve something between a game & a 3d art gallery (or music discovering).
In fact, other than the pictures, paintings, sculpts & so on, it will contain a large selection of Original musics also done from a various - & really GREAT - artists that was inspired by the world of Kalimee.

3 - The player will discover some "parchemins" where the story of Kalimée is revealed.

4 - Solving some 2d games that will give the possibility to complete the level & passing over it.

This is a really shorter way to explain it, but honestly, there is not a valid & explicit explanation for it because even me i'm unable to describe it... this is pure imagination & I create the levels "instinctively" without having a concrete idea & it's why I love to work on it.

For me, this is a way to explore MANY domains.
The thing I can say is thet the player will never be bored because each level is diametrically opposed to others & it will never find a level similar to another one.
The idea was to surpise the player on each level & never let the player boring.

So... hope this will answer a little... but as I've said before, the only way to understand what I'd like to say, is to playing it... & this will be really soon.

forgot to mention the I'm achieving the main menu where the player will:

- Save the game
- Consult the parchemins found (or buy them)
- Play some mini games "unlocked" when the level is over
- Unlock Original pictures, stereoscopics pictures, stereoscopics levels, original movies

Spending much of time clearing & cleaning code & prepare the game for the demo. So I ended up with some changes.

Redesigned the whole level 1 & added (thanx to some user tutorials) a water effect & a lens flare. (Authors will be naturally credited)

Cleaned all the 2d level wich is clodes also.

Modifing the 3d level & pretty near to complete it...

Cleaning level 4 & added some more lightmaps...

Drastically changing the player GUI. Working on it.

I also added a new movie for the whole finished level 7.
You can see it downloading it directly from the forum:

Level 7 - movie

Added also 2 new wallpapers:

Wallpapers

Monday the level 3 should be completed...

Worked hard Closed the level 4, closed also the 5th & on a good way for the end of the 6th level.
Demo is quite pretty ready.

Here some pictures taken from the ones I've added in the Kalimée's Forum.

Here you can see the screen with some clues for the next level & the medal that gives you the clues.

A view of the interface for the 5th level. If the player passes on EVERY platform, he will have a bonus.

In this level, the player will have the opportunity to take 3 books in order to have enough information to solve the puzzle of the level 7.

First pic of the finalized level 6. The player have to stop the 5 blocks on the same angle than the first one. The numbers are the actual angle of each object. Finding in a first try which block is assigned to which number, the solution will be quite easy.

So, once the 6th level & once I'll finally add the 7th that is also quite ready, the demo will be ready to downlad.

Some informations about the Demo:

The Demo will contain, at the loading of each level, a supplementary screen that allows to the demo the encryption of the media files. This screen may take until 2 minutes to terminate. This is the only way I found to protect the media files...

Demo will be created whithout the possibility to save the game in progress. So, if you want to test it, take the time...

Main menu will be not present. So, if you have clues, write them on a paper.

The cinematics & some movies have been removed in order to preserve some "surprises"... & also to have the file less bigger than already it's... (I don't know yet, but the setup file will be very huge).

Demo will be downloadable only for the registered users of the forum & from the forum. (The Demo section will appear ONLY once in the Forum as a subscriber) - Done this in order to manage the bandwidth...

Cheers

Worked on the end of the level 7 & also had the time to model first walls for the 8th level.

Here you can see the 3d part of the level 6 where the player have to choose between 8 doors where only one reaches the exit.

Here the 2d part of the level 7 where the player have to take 7 spheres before he can leave the level.

in this part, there is a strange & funny stuff that happens when you play it.
Once terminated, the next screen have some flames & screen rotates in a clockwise direction. This is certainly due to an optical illusion, but first time I just thought I was sick!

Here the very first picture of the 8th level.
There is a lava river on the ground.
Worked on the movements & found something that would be OK.

Added also some new pics in the Forum

Beginning of the modeling in the 8th level.

Player has to reach the exit "jumping" from a platform to another.
Ambitious idea to create a river of lava. On a good way...

Thanx a lot.
I will have a look on this.... & correct it.

So, completely finished the Main Menu. It was the time! But now all is fine & created a nice smooth transition when the menu is called.

For the ones that would have a look on the definitive game (From Level 1 to Level 8) a 10mn length video can be downloaded.
2 formats. WMV (27Mb) but some media player can have problems due to the length or the Exe video (Binked from RadTools) but huge (181mb but quality is quite higher.)

181Mb Video (Exe file)
27Mb Video (WMV)

Here some shots of new wallpapers that can be downloaded from the forum

A full playable demo should be up next week-end.

Your game looks very interesting and well made and I look forward to see if you've managed to code some good controlls as well.

I notice that your objects are not shaded, this can be fixed really quick in DBP but I can't remember how exactly. I think you need to lower the global lighting and set light zero to a directional light. For even better lighting use more lights in your levels.

Hi Dead Glory, objects "weren't" shaded, but now they are.
The last pictures have been taken from the level I'm still creating & objects are not the definitive ones.
I've used 2 sorts of shadings. One is "hardcoded" I mean that the model is pre-rendered with shaded objects & lights. Objects that have interaction with the player are shaded adding lights & being manipulate during the game.

What do you mean saying "..if you've managed to code some good controls"??

Cheers

That's how something like this should be made, pre rendered shading on the environment and realtime on the interactive objects.

Good controls/gameplay is important for me, not just good looks

BTW, I downloaded that level 1 demo from your site and after seeing the Kalimée logo for a while I get an error:

"Could not load animation at line 92"

You do know that you can include the media inside your EXE so it can't be modified, right?

Hi, the error comes from an old release. The video was Bad encoded. It needed the Indeo codec. But now all the videos have been encoded in wmv format. The Level 1 was an old one.
If you want to try to "walk" in one level, try the level 2 (part 1) that you can download here:
http://www.vues3d.com/kalimee/walk2.exe

This let you just walk into te model... but you have the movements controls.

To walk around: press left+right mouse bouttons
to look around, click only the right boutton.

Thanks Dead...
Hope I will soon have enough time to finish it.
I need some weeks more. Levels have been made. I only need to finish the main menu & pack the files....

Normally in one week or two I will have the time to work more on it. & if it's true... Game will be finally released in September... or in the earlier October.

Here a little pic of the new main menu. Something more simple but that works.

So, the game is still uploading on the server.
I passed all the night packing it in a setup file in order to have a small exe file.
I got a file of 138MB & I've to say I'm quite happy with it.

You just need to install the game & then play with it.
You can play until the 3d level then, once at the end, a screen will ask you for the unlock key that you can obtain visiting the site Unlock code page

Once you've reached the end of the game, you have the possibility to get new levels that you will install at the same place of your main game. Normally each downloaded level should take around 5-10mb. The first add-on will be free & will have 3 new rooms & enigmas.

So, test it in every way... & report me any bug found.
Also, for the first 8 persons that will download the game, register on the forum, & send me a mail , I will send him/her the unlock key to play the whole game.

For those who would like to put a banner to link the game, the banner can be reached here: http://www.vues3d.com/kalimee/banner2.jpg

You can make a direct link on the picture or copy the file below on your server:

The link must be :
http://www.vues3d.com/ke_index.htm (ENGLISH)
or
http://www.vues3d.com/kf_index.htm (FRENCH)
or
http://www.vues3d.com/ki_index.htm (ITALIAN)

Thanx for the support, the help, & for everything.... the game will be still in progress (due to the additional levels). But If I forgot someone in the credits (that appears in the main video & others clicking in the menu)... don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Van B, thanx for the message. Yep, I was considering to contact Rich, but was waiting for some feed-back before, in order to be sure there is no big bug I haven't seen. But in those days I will write to him...

So, if you'll test it... tell me if you found something wrong.

Had the time to correct the main game cutting off the "blue rain" movie that was here to make the media available for each level.
I found a new way to manage them & so, I got a new version.
