Dang, since the two I voted for live in the UK, I guess I'll have to go for CattleRustler and Walaber

Just to clear things up, and expand upon what Rob said;
Mods are here not to offer help to people ( but it does help ).
We only have the power to do things such as remove posts or threads and lock them. and not forgetting Banning spammers.
Our function is mainly to keep the forums clean, tidy, and above all, peaceful!

Just being good at the codeing isn't really a great way to vote someone in.
They also have to be nice natured, offer solutions to arguments ( be it the truth or a locked thread ), and be here all the time, with no social life, no girlfriend, and drinking Koolaid 24/7

Ok, so far, the votes stand at:

Good fun

Jess.

You should find a reasonable forum troll and mod him. Someone that is on all the time (not me) and just tell him do this and you will give him pie.

Specs: AMD 64bit 3200+, Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro motherboard, 512meg HYPER RAM!!, ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb, 120GB Maxtor 7200RPM, 17 inch flat screen, and 1.5 MBIT

Yeah, but she's hardly ever in the General section, which seems to be the place we need mods most, she'd be a great mod, if she came to the general forum more often.

Ok, let me clear up a few things - although it would be nice if the mods knew their code well, I really don't care about this too much - I want FORUM moderators, people who hang out here, know who the trouble makers are, don't loose their temper TOO much and are quick to jump on tosspots like bubble head with the shiny ban and erase buttons.

That is what I want.. forum police Their technical merit isn't of a massive concern to me. I don't want them to have to start helping out newbies, etc - that isn't your role. Your role would be to keep the forums clean and as friendly as possible.

With THAT in mind - do any of you have other votes?

BTW I said no UK people because we have a few already (Ian, TCA, me, Mike) - no other reason at all. But I'm happy to add maybe a couple more. I don't think it would hurt.

With the reinforced info in mind I´d still vote for Walaber. Not because of his Newton dll or helping out in the DBPro section but because I´ve never seen him lose his temper or even post a negative post. Also living in Japan he´ll be on the forum at weired times.

P.S What´s wrong with the "edit" button Rich?

I've been around the forums for quite a while now (maybe coming up to 4 years now - can't remember exactly). And have received a few mentions. . Here are my nominees anyway:

Van B
Mouse

VanB is one of the friendliest guys I know, and Mouse lives inthe US and is quite forum-wise.

There are loads of others but I don't really want to post up a long list, others have already done that

Nah, im still too much of a newb. If I had to choose three people, it'd probably be MikeS, CattleRustler and Exeat, because DarkTopia is a cool idea. Poor Mnem You should move in with CattleRustler, we could turn it into a sitcom!

So far I am happy to mod the following people:

CattleRustler
MikeS
Exeat
Jeku
David T

I would like 1 more who lives on the West Coast USA and then I think that will be enough for now.

Cheers,

Rich

Walaber is a superb programmer, but unless I'm mistaken I don't see as many posts from him around here as I do from the likes of you and right now I'm after people who hang out here a LOT as opposed to anything else.

Good choices Rich.

If you are going to mod another UK person, how about VanB?

Incidentally, the other reason I very politely declined the two kind nominations of yours truly is that my day job involves mediating problems and settling disputes between other people. The last thing I want to have to do is spend my free time doing that here as well.

Sometimes people seem to think that being a lawyer is all fun and games. Its not. Trust me. Its not.

Cheers

Good choices for the new mods Rich. I also back up the vote to make VanB a mod too, just incase you need another UK mod.

As for the "I would like 1 more who lives on the West Coast USA" thing...you spelled East wrong, and I'm still open

...please?

Oh well, it was worth a shot
