DAG, who started voting for me? I do not want to be a mod. Mods are required to keep everyone happy, even if they're smacktards.

Plus I'm not anal enough for the job, I'd let too much slide.

PEACE.

All those new mods ... so fast, so easily.
I remember the time, where they had to suffer during a long time to become a mod : quests to fullfill, painsticks, riddles, ...

Yeah, times are changing.

But I would still suggest these things :
- Beeing able to delete our own posts or threads. It's also a way to keep the forums clean
- Beeing able to change the title of our threads. That way the search engine might become more usefull.
...........But hey, these are just ideas.

Agreed. And we realy need a way to edit our own source boxes.

[edit] yep you still can't edit it. If I had accidently posted an access code/cd key there I could not change it. It happens alot and it usually takes around 2 hours or more to get a mod to change it. Thats alot of views to an access key.

... monkeys with lasers, snake filled bottomless pits, two elder brothers who would die on the quest so we could come along and succeed (the third brother always wins through).

Anyway ...
1 - Deleting your own threads.

Great, but what about the people who think that there is something interesting to them in that thread? You can effectively delete your own post now by editing it out.

2 - Renaming a thread

Yes, but there's a problem with that. How will I find the thread that I've been posting in if you rename it?

I don't know how Rich has implemented searches on tht titles, but it might cause him difficulties too ... or it might be easy.

A better idea for the searches might be for Rich to tie in to Google - I think its free, but I could be wrong.

Speaking of some emergency mod work...there are a few codebase entries that I feel shouldn't be in there...

http://developer.thegamecreators.com/?m=codebase_view_code&i=a87a6eb4fe6300af7de8c5d0825ffc09
http://developer.thegamecreators.com/?m=codebase_view_code&i=213add0d40362e32e32be0110c1bf80a
http://developer.thegamecreators.com/?m=codebase_view_code&i=04bb01b08801a5965834cd260c632067

Each of them lists no code, but tells you to download a file instead. They're using it for some kind of free file hosting service.

Cheers,
Preston

[PS] I think its about time you let normal mods delete or edit codebase entries if they don't have the ability to do so right now. Would really help with keeping the codebase full of useful code instead of the crap I listed above (as well as any time mr. key poster posts his keygen in the codebase).

Preston, the first is some form of DB code. Not too dodgy I think. Especially as it's in "complete applications".

@David: But still, you're supposed to post the code in the codebase, not just a file, that sorta thing should be posted in Program Announcements or something. It's kinda like they're stealing TGC's bandwidth (though, they probably have plenty to share), so I thought it would post about it.

Quote: " Awww DarkCoder isnt a mod Or Preston"

What do you expect? I'm pretty sure Rich loathes me anyway, after how many times I've bugged him on MSN about the forum. Also when i was a n00b way back when I joined (back when I was known as NWC_Omega to those that don't know), and I would email him about a whole bunch of crap that the help files could have taught me, that couldn't have helped my situation either.

I'm also pretty sure the other mods before the current "mod wave" had a say in that too...so...I'll shut up now

Cheers,
Preston

[Edit] Also...I'm a teen with problems controlling his emotions who gets worked up real quick about the dumbest things, hates being proven wrong, hates losing even more, is willing to gain respect through any way necessary (even through force), and just about hates a whole lot of stuff. Give a person like me mod powers...you've got trouble on your hands.

Good thinking Rich, saw this ahead of time, didnt you?

Soon everyone will be a mod , and then you'd have to have some kind of other-worldly status like, "SuperMod". Plus now that "The Mod Squad" banner at the top is waaaay out of date .

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

Now we can find out whether absolute power really does corrupt absolutely. We could have a thread in which people take bets on who will be the first of the new mods to fall to the dark side of the force .... muhahahahahahaha!

Er. Hang on. Not sure what came over me there.

Hey congrats all u new mods. Have a great time moderating!!!

(Hmmm... this is strange. I just noticed today. The date joined thingy in my name shows Jul 2004. While a mth back it was sept 2003. Thats really quite strange. How could this happen? Btw I did join sept 2003 not Jul 2004). I know that was silly. Oops!! Sorry!

Edit: Hey guys is there some modifications goin on to the website? Coz many buttons dont work for me. For instance VIEW MY THREADS doesnt seem to work for me nemore. Also the GO some page no. in case of multiple threads. Is it just me or is any1 else having the same problem?
