Does that mean your list would be: DavidT, CattleRustler, VanB ?

Its ok to say who, and why, specifically.
Just curious

Laggy, I'm sure that Mouse would not abuse his authority in any respect as far as you are concerned. If he were to do that, and Rich found out, he'd be de-modded very quickly.

You guys should let bygones be bygones and shake each others' hands. Yes, I expect to see you both shaking each other's hands on this thread extremely shortly. Who will be a gentleman and offer to shake first of all?

Philip

PS: Yes, I will be nagging you both about this incessantly until you both agree to shake and make up.

Was just curious, thanks for the vote. I am sure our buddy Mouse will do a fine job as well as all the others. So some of us have begun emailing Rich but no new fancy title next to nick name as of yet...

Now whats all this about us new mods having to do some blood-letting trial-by-fire TGC mod initiation ritual, or something? Can I sacrafice a chicken by my PC? *looks around sees no chickens, except for Zone Chicken, but that wouldnt be nice* Will a cat do?

who said that? *cats run and hide*

If you ever want more UKers I say VanB & Spooky.

Arguing and disagreeing with someone is not a cause for concern. Mods are not supposed to be the "pilars of forum society", they're supposed to keep this place ticking over nicely - and of that I am confident they'll all do a great job. I've known Mouse for years and trust him explicitly not to abuse his mod powers or my faith in him. Same goes for the rest of the new mods (with the exception of MikeS and Jeku really, who I have far less personal dealings with, but am trusting on everyone elses comments here).

Mods don't ever "delete" posts anyway, they just get flagged to not display. All mod actions are logged into an audit and anyone who is banned can be as easily unbanned. So at the very worst, even if a mod did go totally rogue, it would be a minor affair to clean up after them.

Cheers,

Rich

Thanks guys

Bring on the numpties!, with at least 1 moderator online most of the time, we should have a nice clean forum.

I gotta agree with Philip about Jimmy, he's the funniest guy here - but some people can be over-sensitive.

UK - VanB, DavidT
US - MikeS, Cattlerustler

Fart buttocks, I'm too late .

Exeat - Done, sorry cattlerustler, should be obvious by your name, I was just going by previous posts (which I obviously didn't read that thoroughly ).

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

You may want to review those locations as well Hamish.

In case you didn't realise, MikeS used to be Yellow and he's been around here for quite a while, you just have to wander into the Newcomers forum to see how much of a favour he's doing to the community.

Yeah, I've noticed I can go into a thread that I've had bookmarked even once it's been deleted.

Thanks for activating it I got a parse error once, then refreshing did the trick.

A suggestion, you might want to make the WMD just hide the posts, not delete them so it's undoable. I feel a bit jittery having the option sitting there and I might click it by mistake.

Ok I have activated DavidT, Exeat, Van B and Cattledude - you all need to login again to get full privs. The rest will show as mods but it won't work fully until they are awake and email me their new passwords

Great to see some new moderators, I think these are the first moderators I've seen elected. All great choices.

Although It'd be quite funny to have Jummy as a mod.

Guys you can't erase or ban other mods It would have failed if you'd tried it, but just to make it clear I have now hidden it if you view a mods profile.

If you have questions about what does what, email me.

Be VERY careful in the Bug Reports Forum. Only if you know for a fact that reported bug has either already been fixed (and can provide a link showing that), or contains errors that are code related and not DBPro related, should you reject it.

Both Mike and Lee use the contents of the Bug Reports forum to build new Updates. If perfectly valid bugs are accidentally rejected, it won't help anyone.

So yes - feel free to reject, but only if you can explain why in that thread first.

Rich

heh.

Rich the post by froogle I deleted was only a test. We were in irc and I said half-jokingly "Hey, someone post something stoopid so I can practice locking a post". Well he did, but the title didnt strike me as funny so I locked then deleted. Just so you know.

DavidT, damn you were fast! Were you in the irc under a different name? Sheesh! Quickdraw. I literally followed froogle here from irc and you still beat me. Damn good work

It's nothing exciting, all that happens is that there are checkboxes next to each thread / each post in a thread, and at the bottom of the page there are "SET" and "UNSET" comboboxes with options like Lock, Stick, Delete, Mark Flamebait, Mark Offensive and Mark Announcement.

When we view a user's profile page, there is a "Ban" button with a date and reason text box, and an "Erase All" button which deletes all posts and threads by that user.
