Time to recruit some new forum mods.

These new mods will only be able to moderate the FPSC boards.

Place your vote as to who you think should be a moderator here.

YOU CANNOT VOTE FOR YOURSELF

All you need do is give their forum name, and if you like you can give a reason + link to a supporting thread where you think they proved they are mod quality.

This isn't a case of numbers as I will ultimately pick the mods, but I will take all votes into consideration.

I'll lock this thread when I've read enough.

hmm... this is something to think about... someone who doesnt lower themselves to their "preys" level, privately OR publicly, ah, someone who isn't so stupid that they cant see a flamebat when their in it, someone who has been here a deceantly long amount of time, someone who has something to say about everyones work, HONISTLY, and someone who is just plain out honist (like anyone is that anymore).

Thats all I can think of at the moment... I think Counjered would make a passible mod, although he has tendencies to get into flame-bats... eh forget it rich, you'll never find someone ohter then maybe Bullshock who'll be any good at being a mod. Its just a bunch of kiddies who think they can make millions of dollars selling games.

I'll trhow onw in for Tim (Bullshock).

what do you mean by that? like flame peoples work because they are not as good as yours? i'll tell you my love, you would have valued a good review a lot more than a bad flame when you were a noob...

i look at it this way, we need a mod that wont abuse his position, and we need a mod that is not doing it for "power" or anything like that, these forums need a mod that has interest in this.

Not someone that will ban people for saying "i will sell this game for 60 $ and make millions!" and not someone that will flame them for saying something like that.

Everyone wants the same here? right? good and nice forums. so i repeat, dont make someone that will be rude, or flaming constantly a mod.

i hope a DECENT person will be made a mod. i voted for Avening Eagle because i trust him. and he doesnt seem like the kinda person that will go on kick and ban spree's.

So please vote for someone decent.

Note: i wasnt judging anyone, i wasnt commenting on anyone, i wasnt saying something bad about someone. so you! the person reading this, dont take this personally because i didnt say anything about you.

No, I mean jus say what is true. Like if its bad say, it needs x, x, x and x, keep it up.
Or, if its ok, say, yea, its ok, but it needs blahdeblahdeblah.

And thanks olot you guys for putting all that up for me, I appreciate it.

If we are going to get extra Mods I will go with Bullshock.

He seems to be generally reasonable and sensible enough and spends a lot of time here so should be able to keep an eye on whats going on effectively.

Hehe, I doubt Rich is planning on recruiting just 1 mod!, 3 or 4 would be good I think - I'd agree with all the recommendations so far if that counts for much.

Should mean a nice change in atmosphere - once people get used to posting more sensibly everyone using the forum will benefit.

Definately Bullshock, perhaps OnePost. You could also consider Uman.
They seem to have been here for a while and would probably be capeable.

Hmm...tough decision. But I fully agree with everything =chrisB= said. We do need mature people. People to take this seriously. Someone active who will regularly keep an eye on the boards and keep control. People have a right to know just how bad or just how good their game, screenshots or program is. It shouldn't be sugarcoated and eventually twisted into a lie. By doing that, you are merely setting them up for a bigger dissapointment than if you had just told them the truth. This method is, by most, considered as 'flaming' but is simply the truth.

Ah, sorry, I didn't vote, did I?
I vote for =ChrisB=. He has brought this forum a lot and has been here for a fair amount of time. I also noticed many helpful threads of his such as the Request Models here, which eventually he cancelled due to some "fu***rs apparently. According to him anyway-but my votes with =ChrisB= nonetheless.

Yes I realized that. I'm just wondering how in hell he did that. Maybe it's just that he's mod and most probably has more access to features than us in his forum profile area.

But why vote? A mod shouldn't be the most popular one, but the best man/woman for the job and a person who's around regular and supporting/helping others. Personally I would suggest that the TGC staff follows this board for a while to see who's the right choice.

But since that's the case .... after much consideration I'm inclined to say either uman or bullshock, but both of them aren't around that much.

so my vote goes to ChrisB also and I wish him all the luck in the world if he get's to be a mod, you'll need it!

Benjamin A,

Thanks for your consideration. I would also suggest that you may also be considered being seemimgly a knowledgeable forum member with sensible judgement.

I would not worry too much about the posts here. TGC are decent enough guys to ask for forum members opinions as a matter of courtesy, but they will at the end of the day as was pointed out initially, make a valued judgement based upon their own criteria and quite rightly so.

I value your and everyones support and opinions and trust it will be for the better of the forum, FPSC and especially the end result of the games made with FPSC.

EDIT : to save me filling this with further posts - you know how much I can type - I just take this opportunity to say thanks to anyone and everyone esle who at any time lends any support to my name and too everyone else too, now and in the future.

I outta here now.

I think the voting so far is seemingly heading in a good direction.
I propose we vote in for people with different fields of knowledge, like for example somone who IS capable of helping out with levels etc,or with scripting questions.
So far I'll throw in my votes forinsert drumroll here)

=ChrisB= (always makes conscise and to the point posts and helps wherever possible)

KeithC (currently doing some very important work for the community, and obviousky very good at organizing)

Bullshock
(well,what can we say LOL)

Essal
(Our own resident texturing Guru)

and lastly
Uman
(Widely regarded as the oracle)

As far as everyone mentioning that the new MODS will nee da lot of luck/big balls etc to moderate here,as long as they are supported by the community,or at least the people who care enough to make an effort, they'll be fine
Its time we realized that everything cannot be dependant on a couple of people, but that everyone has to moderate themselves first, the better things will get around here.

I would like to take this time to make a small point, if anyone truely does not have the ability to moderate this forum honestly and rightously, then you should withdraw. I am not pointing to anyone in particular, since the depth of which I know people is not enough to tell what needs to be told, but rather making a statement that needs to be read as long as this moderation election is occuring, the canidates should heed the following.

a) Have no prejudice against Newbies, ANJL, NJL, or other member groups.
b) Keep no favorites amoung the members, and assign just punishment for crime committed.
c) Keep no sides in a quarrell unless the perpretrater is plain and visible.
d) Be able to take propper action to prevent or remove topics which have or will break the AUP.
e) Use your moderation tools sparingly, and solve confict by oral reprimention.

Generalized, but works. These are the issues I forsee in this election, that the elected might be so intertwined in the politics of this forum that taking such a position might break their current social status. Mods, in their own way, are publicly elected dictators. You need them to inforce the peace, when you are the offended, but when others take the offense you blame all but yourself. If you persist in being the antagonist, even if you can justly defend your actions, the mods view is the one that holds, and that is unswavering.

Then, if you identify with the antagonist, you have to make the choice of going against your freind, a person you have known for a month or more, asking for disiplenary action. Would you do it? What if it were a complete stranger, not exactally breaking the AUP but steping on the line... what action would you take?

Will you take different action to another just because you believe that they are 'lower' then you, perhaps ignorant of trival riddles. Would you cut short their speech, just because you feel that she can't know what she is talking about. Or even if it were true, would your arrogance step up and reply a spiteful insult telling neither what was wrong or how to correct it. Would you refer a person to a heap without a clue what he is trying to find. Or would you be indifferent, and understanding of the situation, and explain what is wrong and why.

If the user still persited in a different view, would that view be wrong because you believe so, even without reading what has been said? Or would you hold firm your side and force your view upon them?

Being a mod is more then just a sticker next to your name; it has to do with resposibility, maturity, and the ability to do what is needed when it is needed.

With that in mind, I humbly withdraw and turn my vote to Uman.

FYI: Rich has a PHP Icon. Basically prints a random image.

We all have our inner noob. Join the NJL, and have more fun!
I believe society is flawed; our notions on life, on child rearing, stem too far back to be of relevance in this day and time.

Thank you kindly for your support OnePost.

Your words of wisdom are of worthy note.

I would also support your appointment as a MOD if that were to be the case and your wish and would respectfully suggest to others that you would follow your own doctrine as laid out:
Quote: "Being a mod is more then just a sticker next to your name; it has to do with resposibility, maturity, and the ability to do what is needed when it is needed"
