Hi

I am looking forward to the next contest. Although I did'nt get mine completed, I enjoyed the challenge. This was my first time to put my ideas on paper, and set goals and deadlines. I learned a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing everyones entries.

Too bad I didn't really get into this much. I put together a bunch of DarkMatter media, rigged it, and got it in game, but never really got around to making the level

Keith, I know it's a bit early, but are you guys already thinking of the next theme? I'm not so good with horror

The next theme will be decided by the winner of this month's competition.

Its a real challenge to think of some theme.. kinda unique one.. since there can be only limited things that can be done with FPSC I guess... so it would be very interesting to see whats gonna be the next theme....

It is hard to think up a good theme, Ive been thinking of some ideas, but I cant think of any thing good, which hasnt been done before, with fpsc.

Just a thought.

I really didn't have time to get a level ready this time. I did start on it but found myself spending a lot of time on the theme parts and never got much past that. Partly due to time and I think the rest due to interest. If it had been an "anything goes" I might have made it, but maybe not.

I like the idea of the winner picking a theme, but in the interest of getting the contest off the ground (so-to-speak) it may not be the best way to start. Allowing everyone to do what they are interested in and best at should make for some better levels and competition. Of course, that would make it harder on the judges.

Anyway, I hope to enter the next one and best of luck to all who entered. I await my chance to play your levels.

The forum provides a means to hide our true identity. Too bad we always screw up and let it be seen.

Thats a good suggestion xplosys. But as you said that would make it difficult for the judges, unless there is some common ground.

Plus it would be wierd to compare 2 different genres, it would be like comparing oranges and apples. FPSC might be limited but there are no limits to imagination. So, you never know what happens in future .

Thats just my thought.

I like xplosys' idea. Judges could judge based on genral gameplay elements - speed, graphics, ect rather than how it fit the theme.

To all who entered - best of luck! Can't wait to see who wins!

@Tim; that's good to hear (you got the judges criteria list too, right?).

I've said before that I wouldn't mind an "anything goes" level design comp. It wouldn't be that hard to come up with some general criteria to judge with.

more than a 'anything' theme for the next contest....how about an original theme contest.

No 'war', no 'sci-fi', no 'horror'.
We have had enough of those (almost all the games on these forums are one of the above!)

Let people's creativity be a major factor here. Let them make a game having a theme not many have tried before.
That will make them think and try out new areas. Also, it will better show-off the FPS Creator's capabilities.

Just my 2 cents.

Its up to the winner to decide, not the users, which annoyes me, because every one is trying to force people to pick what they want, leave it to the winner.

But then wouldnt it be a havoc to ask every user to give an idea.. or say 100 users giving ideas. May be a select group of users who like different genres can get together and pick a theme.

Picking the next theme is part of the 'prize' for the winner; as well as the option to become a judge for the next contest (of course that also means they couldn't compete).

Well, all the judges have the dowload links, and are currently...judging. When I get each judge's top 3 picks (and their scores), I'll be able to figure out the top 3 winners.

Just so you all know looks like you may be awaiting on me then. I am working like crazy night and day today (Thurdsay) and Friday and wont be finshed with that until end of office hours Friday.

I cant therefore look at the last of the levels until Friday evening or Saturday but it will then be done and completed quickly.

I'll get my result scores in ASAP then.

Keith, I think you should change how long you have to make the level, to 15 days or some thing, then you have time to judge and have a contest every month.

cool! assuming the new picture in my sig works, Mods, I don't know if this breaks the AUP, but it was kind of iffy, and i decided it's not that bad. If this is unacceptable, then please edit it out of my profile so i don't get into hugo trouble.

EDIT: PICTURE WOKRS! also, this is a creen shot from Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizzards 1993 VGA remake. i did not inlcude the entire seen, as it would have been a bit larger.

I found out that flickering lights, do not work in a built game, they come out dull, which is a pitty.

I wonder how many scifi horror levels where entered?

Wow, this is a tight competition; I've just ran the numbers, and I need two scores from Rich (I e-mailed you with the 2 names) to declare the top 3. Right now it looks like a 3-way fight for 3rd place. I'm fairly certain of who won 1st and 2nd, but I don't want to let that slip just yet. As soon as I have the final numbers I'll lock this thread (and unsticky it) and start up another official thread like last month.

So close.....
