..and why would you wanna do that? I mean before the contest is closed... I dont think its not allowed but still..

@Keith: I am absolutely new to RPG so I have a small clarification. Its hard for me to think of any storyline.. I saw some Zelda gameplay videos and got an idea.
My question is do we necesarily have to have character interactions? Can we unfold the story and give clues by using some artifacts or some things like a book or hidden box or something?

I hope I find some kinda storyline soon..

i know how to enter a level, im just wondering how limited the game can be. because, if i can use them instead of iteams, the game will be a lot better... no need to laugh

I didnt mean you never knew how to enter/upload the level, I meant you dont seem to understand what you have to do.

Pulling two switches isnt much of an rpg/adventure objective.

*SIGH* I KNOW. All i wanted to know was if i could replace the iteams with switches. i never said that was ALL you had to do. I happen to know what an RPG is.

EA doesnt seem to want any media modified, which AE has done, so unless EA have let him do so, he should be quick about it and take his modified logo down.

I dont think it matters that its not on their site either, I think the TOS still applies.

Like I said before; think "MYST".

Nope; have to have at least 2 items to progress in the level.

That's just it.
Maybe he has their written permission.
Only Electronic Arts and he would know.
And that statement above says ...
Quote: "You shall not copy, transmit, modify, distribute, show in public or in private, modify or create any derivative works from the Content you find on EA.com, unless EA.com Inc. expressly authorizes you to do so."

Who says he got the original logo from their website?
Maybe he got it from somewhere else, then this wouldn't even apply.

Anyway I didn't mean to get everyone off topic.
Sorry

So would treasure chests containing gold be okay?
Like 8 or so hidden chests that contain different amounts of gold or other items, but at least 3 would be need for the total required to advance? Even though its 3 of the same thing, t-chests, it still would be 3 pickups to win. Is that scenerio okay?

Edit
I thought the rules said 2 items, but 3 is fine with me.

Y'u know i only made my avatar because i thought it was a good idea and because i thought it would be funny (y'u know; humourous, comedic)

2. that branch of the drama which concerns itself with this form of composition.
3. the comic element of drama, of literature generally, or of life.
4. any literary composition dealing with a theme suitable for comedy, or employing the methods of comedy.

I wish you lot would stop trying to split hairs...

I shall leave the music as a minor concern now since i have to finish making the level.

I'm looking foward to this!

I'm still looking for a 3rd judge (assuming Rich and Uman are OK with having another go at judging) at this time. I haven't made my decision yet, but I am listening to each person who has posted their services. The judges will receive a similar criteria checklist from the last competition, from me. I am updating the Rules in front to let you all know some generic criteria that they will be looking at; I won't go into specifics in any area, because I still don't want you creating your levels just to satisfy a checklist.

Im still in the design phase, as I keep getting more ideas.
I'm laying out my maps now and will start the scripts after that.
I guess V1.0 is fine for this since it's just one level. Oops, I mean one FPSC level.
Using mostly stock media should help me make the dealine with so little spare time.
Hard to make a wizard out of the FPSC guys though.

AE, you can't just take music from a movie and re-mix it. That's still breaking the copyright laws. You need permission to even use parts of it.

I'm including music that I made, and one track that was made by another person who doesn't care at all how it is used.

What would you say is an acceptable framerate to have in an entry? After these last few updates, I am averaging around 24 FPS.

Since we all know FPSC has problems with Frame-rate, I don't expect a clean 30-32 FPS all the way through. If it drops into the low 20's for a significant portion of the game (or at key moments), you can expect less points. However, if you can manage to play it off by turning that part of the level into a Matrix-type lobby scene; I suppose you could classify it as "bullet-time".

One more thing. Since the last top 3 were real close in points, you want to make every effort to get as many points as possible. Don't let the other guy win by 1 point!

@Chris; I'll watch out for it.

Man, I just looked at the NVIDIA Contest and it is looking pretty sweet.
Now I have to think of another design to get started on as I work on this one.

So many prizes So little time

I probably won't win anything, but this should be fun.
The funny thing is the 15x15x5 grid requirement for the NVIDIA Contest.
That is exactly the size of the map that I had just designed for this contest over the last few days.
15x15 hmmmm

I'm really looking forward to what people do with this particular theme. Don't forget that we've got a bunch of free media over at Ozark Games for you to use; it'll all be in an easier format to view pretty soon.

I am making the same mistake (?) I made last time. Still havent thought of a story line, and am making lots of custom media.

But since we have more time this time around, I guess things whould work out in the end.

hmm....a good story line.....

make the plot line as you go, but always have your plot one step ahead of your building just incase you need to reform.

thanks for the advice flashing snall.
What I tend to do is think of how and where (environment) my level is going to be based. Then I make all the media I would require for it.
And then start with the story and map. LOL, I know its the reverse of what I should be doing

whatever works for you. I have done that on occasion. make a place like a base or bunker of station, and then think of somthing that could happen there, and if need call, modify the map to fit the requirements. Although, I have never acully 'finished' a game, so, i dont know...
