No time requirement; but if it's long, make it meaningful.

I got my dad to test my level. He's not only a novice to FPSC but to computer games as well. It took him 10 minutes to get to the second half of the level and then drop through the floor because of collision problems.

If i play my level as faster as i can, i can complete it in about 5 minutes.

To get instructions on uploading your level, PM "Just One Old Man" on the OG forums. I'm not sure what problems you're having, as far as navigating the site?

It's just because I'm new to the site, I'll get use to it with time. I'll try to PM the old man person. thanks.

Also KeithC, I wanted to know if my level would qualify for the contest before I waste everyone’s time...

It's a real-time, puzzle-based game; Inspired by the movie SAW. It's my latest WIP, but the first level is complete. There's not a lot of shooting but I added some cool entity's, my own voice acting, and my own unique scripting.

I'll check back later for a response before I upload it.
Thanks again!

Nue B. or not Nue B. That is the question.

Sounds like it would fit into the criteria fine. Just read through the posted guidelines in the first post, and if you have any specific questions; cite the specific rule and ask.

It should do, mine was based on James Bond. Incidentally, i will be releasing a special 007 edition of my level on the 21st November (can't be entered into the competition because of copyright isssues).

Well, my game was only inspired by the movie. I'm not trying to play out the actually movie. It's just a puzzle game where you have to stay alive and some things you do can cause you to die or trigger your own demise. It's gonna be called "PUZZLED!"

@All entrants.

Don't forget to make sure your levels follow the basic criteria set forward:

- Your level must have a story associated with it; the story can be presented in any manner you see fit (through cutscenes, pop-up dialogue boxes, etc.).

- The physical "look" of your level can be whatever you wish (i.e., WWII segments, Fantasy segments, Sci-Fi segments, etc.).

- Weapons/Gunfights are not mandatory.

- The more involving (and well integrated) the story is, the better your chances are.

- Your level should include at least 2 items that you must collect, in order to complete the mission.

- Your level's objective may be one of the following: Rescue mission, Sabotage mission, Treasure Hunt, or Recovery Operation (get an item, and make it back out). You MUST have a level objective. If you aren't sure if your objective is OK; ask here for approval (or PM me, if you want to keep it quiet).

I may have to drop out because of time restraints (school).
I started work on this project, but I've only had 3 days of free time.
My game level is no where near completion.

Only one week left to enter.

How many entries so far Keith?

@Everyone: There is still time to finish your levels, and still make it quality (just ask Higgins).

@NueB: Now you just sit back, and wait for judgment day.

@CE: There are currently 5 levels uploaded.

This competition looked really fun, and i put a lot of work into my level, but i regret to inform everyone that im not going to be entering...

its a long story, but i hired a guy to make textures for me, and the last one he sent me i reckegnized from a pack i had bought a while back, so no im not sure which ones he made and which he didnt...

so i guess it would be against the rules to enter if any of those textures are ripped, so i guess im not going to enter.

i may release my level a little later though for everyone to check out...

Sorry to hear about that Bullshock.

If the textures are not too many in number, you may have time to do them yourself (unless its too complicated, like characters). But I think you should enter the competition nonetheless.

I am far from even starting my map or scripts yet (yes, I have been busy with other things and have only ended up making some custom models!), and I may have to make my level (design, scripting, HUDs, custom menu etc) over the weekend.

And I am not giving up. Worse case, you dont win.
But if you dont enter...the best case is you dont win!

You should really try to substitute those textures, and enter anyways. I'm not sure how much work it would be for you; but it would seem like a waste to not submit it. Don't forget, there are other criteria besides graphics that will give you points (such as GamePlay).

the textures add so much to the level though, theire all extremely detailed scifi textures...

theres only 3 im not sure about, the rest he sent me PSD files for, so i know he made them, but theres 3 that im not sure about. plus i cant get a hold of him all of a sudden...

i would have to remake segments, and re-lay them everywhere, its a lot of work...plus i havent laid the entitys yet...

i dont know...im going to open it up again and look at it, see if i can redo it with stock scifi segments, but that means im going to have to kill it with lighting to make it look good...

sigh, oh well, I've just about finished my level, but the "object does not exist at line blahblahblah" bug has struck again.

is there a limit on dynamic entities or something? Because i have a little over 200.

I have no idea. In the botched November Maze Level, I had zero characters, and only 4 dynamic entities (apart from several keys). Supposedly version 1.4 has fixed that now, but people are starting to have more problems again. I'm not sure if that level will ever see the light of day.

well, i guess the only thing left is to try v1.04

edit: WOOHOO!!!

wow, 1.04 is awesome, now it fixed that bug and i have 31 fps constant except for one or two parts.

edit (again): I had a question, will be be graded down for errors that are obviously fpsc's fault, such as the guns not showing up in v1.04? (see the v1.04 patch thread to get what im talking about).

I know this sounds stupid...but I may have given up all hopes of entering this time

I tried to go for something out of the ordinary, but it backfired big time
I tried a complete outdoor theme. I spent over a month making all segments and entities myself (real low poly). But now that I finally started making the map using those...gives me a max frame-rate of 20 It usually varies between 14 and 20 on the whole map.

And to top it, I still havent added a single dynamic object or a single script. When I do that, I am sure its going to be a slide-show presentation rather than a game!!

Ofcourse, I am not giving up yet ( I still have 2 days to figure out something), but my chances of even finishing the level look slim.

Wish me luck people! Need lots of it

just copy the ftp address JOOM gave you.

Open any folder on your PC. In the address bar, paste the ftp address.
When prompted for username and password, use the ones JOOM gave you.

Now just copy and paste your game into that ftp folder.

Im done with my level finally!!!
Now, for making my custom menu, this is making me go crazy!!!
Well, at least if I can't finish that, I can still submit the level.

edit (later): lol, ironically, this is my very first fpsc level that i made. I'm not counting my training mission because that took me all of one hour to make and was nothing special. It's just kinda strange that ive been here fairly long, some think that i am at least a little experienced, but I've never made a game before.

Well, I hope that the judges like it, I spent upwards of 10 hours working on it.

Good Luck to everyone else who entered or is entering!!!
