5th Jan 2007 - Upgrade 1.04 Released. Found this on TGC FPS Creator home page. Theres a link for this upgrade and model pack 6, Also interesting news for anyone owning model packs 3 and or 5.

Everything looks good, I compiled a game with 6 levels. Lighting is good and fps was good too (no enemies lol).

Downloaded it, tested it, crashed just as quick as RC9. It's initializing entities and it crashes with a problem in the dbprosounddebug.dll. Difference is, this time it's not crashing when building the sky but when initializing the entities. But still the same dll causing the crash.

What does the dbprosounddebug.dll do anyway, besides causing me a lot of trouble?

I'm testing some other levels to see how they behave.

i aint even getting a Startup screen,so be happy you do...

EDIT:

ok,it works after full-re-install.but i need latest DirectX...and it keeps telling me my windows key isnt legal...but i purchased this copy together with my dad!

anywhere where i can find D3Dx9_32.dll?

nevermind,found the redistribable version that doesnt require validation.

Tested 1 more level....caused crahs as well. Tried to build a 6 level project, all small levels. It crashed on the 3rd level when optimizing and saving the universe, but this time the lightmapper caused the crash.

So, not much luck until now

how do you unistall the betas to return to V1? sorry for the noob question

but it says you have to uninstall the v1.04 betas before you download.

Games builded fast.i had 6 small maps(all different with lightmaps) and it only rook 5 minutes to build!(the entity's took the longest...)

it goes trough lightmapping very fast even at highest lightmap level!

Yes, any "FPS Creator x.x.x" that has a number after, remove them all, but not the one that says "FPS Creator" only, as you'll have to install from scratch if you do.

I can't change the 'Light Color' of my light markers! I select 'other' after clicking on the little button and the pop up disappears and that's it, no colour wheel pops up like there used to be.

Can anyone else change the colour of their lights?

I uninstalled V104 RC8 which I had as well as all the model packs and reinstalled everything. I've quit and restarted FPSC but still I can't change the light colour, I'll try resetting my machine...

Well, I've finally managed to build a game after a lot changes, FPSC for sure can't handle half of the stuff it used to on my machine. Still the levels look great, but in means I do have to adjust a lot of my levels so that FPSC can handle them once again.

For me, using DarkLights has it's price.

I have downloaded the upgrade and the pack 3 as it suggested, uninstalled everything and installed the upgrade, so it has gone from v1 to 1.04 (jan 2007)...

Questions:
1) Why is it showing v1.03 when starting up?
2) It's taking ages to load my level (mapping object 39%) and the fan on my Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition is screaming...(this was not happening before...

I had some serious problems with RC 8 and 9. My FPSC stopped working completely.

Let me throw another issue with the new update.... I have gravematter from sinistar website... pack has always worked great with the exception of the 1.03 rc2 which was giving me the 7003 error code... the newer revisions cleaned that up and I was able to use gravematter again..... Well the new update is doing this again.... I have loaded up a few of my old maps most of them work great but the ones with gravematter models in it was getting error's... Now since I knew about this before I went ahead and started a new map loaded 1 segment from the gravematter pack and blamo there was the 7003 error again.... I know for others this is going to be a heart breaker...
I am going to duplicate this again get the error report and forward it to lee... But I gues I got to go back to the beta stuff seems that 1.04 rc6 and rc7 worked pretty good for me for what I was doing.. I hope this info helps someone who may run into the same issue

The only issues (besides having to cut my levels in half) I've encountered is characters being to dark, see attached picture.

While static items seem to lighted correctly, dynamic entities don't always seem to be correctly lighted at all.

But I'm afraid we'll have to wait for the next update, since this seems to be called v104 final, according to the newsletter. But it looks like it's far from being final.

at my system everything works 100% so far.nothing missing or whatever.i can even put 50 lights near eachother like RickV did in that movie

I doubt it is an unlucky computer as that some of use have more then 1 pc and will typically test the error on our other pc to see if we can replicate this issue....

A bug is simply just that a bug... I know Lee is working very hard to get this right for all of us... But thats why when any of us run into an issue we need to let it be known via email and also in the forums that way Lee and the people of this community are not in the dark about whats going on....

Texture is applied for sure. If I do set the ambience to brighter everything is fine, as soon as I make it darker, the entities gets to dark, even though he's in the light. It seems that with dynamic entities the lighting isn't applied correctly when a dark ambience is chosen. It seem to keep the darkness of the ambience instead of the lightness of the light source.

I first noticed that 2 days ago with a model from Jikito. I could not repeat it with any other entity. It's not new in RC10, anyway.

@TGC
I also have the "Can not select custom lighting colors" issue. This is the only problem I have found and it is with a clean install of; in order: V1, RC10, NEW Sprite pack and model pack downloads.

ARGH!

After uninstalling everything and reinstalling v1 and the latest release I have this to report:

1) Mapping objects takes a lifetime!
2) I have lost the animation in some entities like fans, and flickering lights don't flicker anymore!
3) Some entities have become brighter, like the corpses, they are so bright!
4) Faster lightmapping.
5) You must restart your pc after installation of latest upgrade, it must be a memory leak or a bug, otherwise I get no textures at all, just grey stuff!

I am going back to v1...

I have to agree after seeing your post I just tried doing this myself and I am also not able to do this either.

Also I have unistalled all my FPSC, Patches and model packs 3 and 5...rebooted pc then proceeded with a fresh instal of v1 then the newly downloaded model packs 3 and 5 then the 1.04 patch

Bet your as bummed as I am.... I have detailed as much information as I can and sent an email to Lee already on the previous issue posted above... I know Lee cruises the forum alot but maybe an email will also help him put this issue up on the front burner...

If you notice when you right click an entity and go to change say the players start weapon you can not slide the pane over to see the full extension on the gun you want.

This has never worked for me. thats the one thing I dislike about MP5. the folder name is too long (yes I know I can change it, already did)
When I would go to give my person a weapon I could never see which weapon is which. I had to memorize each one. All I could see is Model pack.... oh no I can't see the rest of the name, lol.

Updating now. Kind of scared to though.

When you go to select a weapon, look good at the left of the screen. It is divided into two parts, the names and their values. Between the two is a light gray line that separates them. You can move that center line to the left and get a better view of the values on the right.

I have 2 desktops and 2 laptops. It works on all four with no issues. 3 have XP Pro and 1 has XP home. 2 are Dells, 1 is a Gateway and 1 is homebuilt. 2 have Nvidia cards, 2 have generics.

I don't have issues with any of them. My point is this: No program in the world works 100% on all computers all the time. I know it still has bugs, it will always have bugs because all programs have bugs. You can't get around it. So, what I meant by my comment was that it's not JUST the program, but the hardware is partially to blame as well. Later.

I must admit I jumped into this upgrade head first. After doing exactly as TGC said,(uninstall and reinstall) new versions of model packs 3 and 5, If I test terrorstrike.fpm with full lightmaps and no shaders things seem alright. If I add full shaders the enemies disappear. This time I know its not my pc, cause it's a new intel core duo, 1 gig of memory, and GO 7600 video card. Any thoughts? Heres a shot of the test game.

Ya, that's killing me. After you select one, leave your cursor over the little block so it tells you what you have, then keep trying till you get the one you want. Reall pain.

I really only encountered 2 problems. I ran the "scifi-1.fpm" level.

1) In the same roon, when I shot one enemy once who was standing at a table with 4 monitors on it, and he disappeared. I shot the other enemy and he fell to the ground and stayed there.

2) In the same room, I kept hearing footsteps like someone was walking around (and it wasn't me). I don't know if it was an enemy from another room OR it was the guy I shot once who disappeared.

To get all this to run, I had to uninstall EVERYTHING FPSC and the MODEL PACK related. Installed the CD, then installed RC10.

I will post a screenshot of the room in a moment.

Good work on FPSC lee,
I have an issue though,
When I go to build game - level settings - global script
and I hit the preview button I get the error:

"the application has encountered a problem and needs to close. Extra debug info: 0 0"

Any solutions?
