Hey everyone!
While I don't want into a big debate on the subject, we all know that X10 has been a
little less active than X9 lately. However, with the release of the source and the first X10 mod being released, hopefully we can breathe some much-needed life into the engine. Me and Budokaiman were hoping to use this moment of power to start a competition for X10 created games. So, on behalf of myself and Budokaiman, here are the rules for The X10 Revival Competition:
---------------------------------
Rules: The game must contain 5 or fewer maps, and must stand out from X9 games in some way
---------------------------------
Criteria:
Originality - How does the game set itself apart from other games, and how does it stand out from X9 games. Be creative! No limits here.
Playability - Is the game enjoyable, is it glitched, how well does it work? Another tip is to use gameplay to tell the story.
Framerate - Does the game suffer from framerates being too low? Do you use optimization techniques?
Design - Was there a good amount of work put into the levels, or were they just quickly thrown together? Do you use the features exclusive to X10 well? Which means, do not use water for the sake of water.
Media - Is there only stock media being used, or is there custom media? We encourage the use of stock media that comes with X10, however stock that also came with X9 is looked down upon.

The competition will run until the end of May. The competition is intended to showcase how well you work with X10, how much time and effort you spend in your levels and how you can overcome certain obstacles, hence the 5 map limit, and it is also intended for you to showcase your creativity with game making. Make your game better than an X9 could be! Use X10 well! We want to see what it can be done! Push the limits! We are trying to bring X10 back to life, so now is the time to make your best game yet.
So get started! Comp ends June 22nd.
