Hello Everyone,

As some of you know, I am on vacation in India for a while and while I was on the [long, LONG] plane ride there, I had time to experiment with models and sharpen my skills some. I have just arrived here tonight (it's 3 AM in the morning here), and am feeling full of energy (JETLAG ), so I decided to create this small modelling challenge for myself.

Now you all know from whom this idea originated from (Josh), and I dont mean to steal it, but I think this would be a good way for me to get better aswell. You may have noticed the PMC next to the title of the thread. That stands for ""Personal Modelling Challenge", and everytime I do something like this I will add a PMC at the end of the title.

Now I dont want to take on too much (100 models in 100 days), but 30 seemed to me to be a reasonable start. Everyday, for the next 30 days, I will model, texture, and make FPSC ready a model for this community. Hope you guys enjoy.

Last few comments:
1. I hope Josh doesnt have any objections to me using his idea
and 2. Anayar's Models & Media Request Thread V2 will be started at the end of this 30 day challenge.
3. The theme for this PMC is Modern Day (Yes, I am aware that that is quite broad )

So lets get this party started, shall we?

Day 1: June 21st, 2011 (Note: As I am in India ATM, the time and date might seem a bit weird for people in other countries).
Model 1: Dumpster (THANKS TO Poloflece FOR MAKING IT SHADER READY)
Polygons: 90
Time taken: 2 hours (yes, I work slow)
Screenies:

The texture (Full size is 1024x512):

Till tomorrow, a very sleepy Cheers,
Anayar

Looks nice, although I believe there is some inverted normals on some of that model, making it see-through.. Nice work however, also I think the texture could use some work, but for a project to make a model per days for 30 days it is good quality.

@Shadowdeath: Thanks mate! Next one comes tomorrow (my tomorrow that is )

@frafra_95: Thanks. If you need any help with anything, feel free to shoot me an email

@sic1ne: Thanks!

@Crysis: Hey man. I started this since I am on vacation and my PC back home is still in haitus (ask him about that). I will send my models as soon as I get back home and am able to fix my PC. Till then, Im making these with my laptop.

@Deathhead: You, sir, have a VERY good eye. no, there is no inverted normal, but I tried to make the texture transparent and that was the result. Using depth-buffering alpha in milshape it looked perfectly alright on both sides, but in FPSC it went crazy on me. Let me know if you know of a quick fix to that. And thanks for the comment

@ZP: Lucky dog who is getting bitten to death my mosquitoes. Lol, everything is so different here... the people, the buildings, the TV's (I miss my 50 inch plasma). People here are SO lucky... anywhere I look almost a thousand textures pop out at me and hundreds of model possibilities. Anyways, yes, I think I will be making some "Indian" models, in the style of Uncharted.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Cheers,
Anayar

Nice, that'd look great with an S and N map (I can do them if you are yet to obtain the ancient knowledge of the shader)

@Poloflece: Id apprecite that. Didnt have the time to make it shader ready. If you do make it shader ready though, can you send it to me? Id like to update the DL myself (with due credit to you ) just to keep the download links to a minumum on this thread (only the Day's DL). Thanks mate!

Yeah... sic1ne had a bit of help, didnt he [EDIT]And the work is going well. I sent a few mails to Eragon, but havent gotten a response. For that matter, Im not getting a response from ANYONE I send mails to these days... and most of them claim to have never gotten the mail. Interesting. Will have to look into that [/EDIT]

@AA: My parents are from India You realize we are supposed to be mortal enemies right? (JK ). Besides, I live in south India so wouldnt be able to get up there anyways . NP mate, hope it comes in handy for you

Also, I dont want to make this a request thread, but as I was planning on doing light fixtures anyways, that wont be a problem (the famed tube light lol).

Cheers,
Anayar

This model was simply a test to see if I could create a model with a small texture and still have it look good in game. I think it turned out decent... The whole texture was hand painted except for the wood. Hope you guys like it
DL Includes Model with Diffuse, Normal and Spec. Maps.

Once you've finished a few more models I'll shader ready them, then update the files on fps-files.

@ZP: Thanks mate! Glad you like it.

@PFG: I think the models are all shader ready... I have included Normal and Spec. maps in all the DL's. It's not bond1 shader ready, but it does have the required files/maps.

Also, could you approve my upload? That way its there for anyone who wants it

So today was quite adventurous; After almost getting hit by 30 (I counted) cars, buses, auto's and bikes, I reached back home alive. The one experience I will remember forever from today is jumping out of the way of some idiot biker and landing completely in a pile of fresh cow you know what... In my nike's . I knew I should have left them back home !

@ZP: NP mate, and the texture is just alright(you always make it seem like my models are better than they actually are lol )

So I downloaded Marmoset Toolbag last night, the trial ofcourse, and was playing with it today. I took renders of all the models so far, but frankly (its probably because Ive never used marmoset) IMHO it looks better in FPSC
