Wow... did I really write that? Thats what happens when you get 5 hours of sleep in 2 days lol. Anyways, what I was trying to say was that I will post the DL for model #2 tom. (today) because I am extremely sleepy and falling asleep sitting. That post is what comes off trying to type with an ipod keyboard when youre half asleep... atleast autocorrect fixed a few

Anyways, onto replies:

Quote: "Nice renders! Now we can see your texturing skills! Brilliant!"

Thanks Mate... I have sent you an email. Let me know when you see it.

@joiund: Thanks! Hope you like it

Damn... it was that bad? Im going to have to edit that post lol

@King Fluffs: Thank you.

@ZP: LOL, dont want that many beers, that would only make things worse Anyways, thanks my friend, for all your encouragement!

As said above, you guys will get Day 4: Model 2 and Day 5's model today. My apologies.

Cheers,

Thanks man! Nah, I was planning some light fixtures anyways so...

Now... after the long (lol) wait, Id like to present..."Trumpets play"The Phone Booth
This sucker took up over 8 hours (plus FPSC importing) to bring into existence... albeit half of that was spent trying to find good ref. images lmao, and may I also mention that 80% of this texture is hand painted... But man it turned out well (you can tell I like it lol)

Anyways, here it is:
Day 4, Model 2: June 23rd (I know Im a day late)
Model: Phone Booth
Polygons: 400
Time Spent: Over 8 hours (The god is in the details)
Screenies (Warning, Image heavy):

Texture:

If anyone is having trouble loading the images or if they are too big please let me know ASAP.

DL includes Milkshape file, OCJ, and Model with Diffuse (in TGA and PSD), Normal and Specular maps...
Whew, I think I need a break... you guys mind waiting for today's model? I might only be able to get it done by tom... hate having a backlog of work . Anyways, enjoy and please post a comment or two

Cheers,
Anayar

@Bruce: Thanks mate! I had to look up what GTFO was (though I had a pretty good idea lmao). You never know whats coming next... model ideas just spring into my head and I make em, no set plan or anything

[EDIT]And special thanks to those 80 people that viewed the thread without commenting... JK lol. But I thought there would be a few more comments considering (IMHO) this is the best model on here to date.[/EDIT]

Now 79

Excellent work anayar,I should have commented earlier,however I didn't really have time to write something more useful than the usual "good job".

I'd like to criticize you on a few points first.

1.When you UV-map try to keep proper proportions of the planar maps.It's not really that much of an issue as you can stretch the texture and still make it look good in-game(as you've figured out on your own),however it would be a lot less time consuming if you use a checkered pattern to keep track of the proportions.On a further stage you can worry about rotated faces(as seen on the phone texture,some letters are flipped on the texture).

2.When you write text on the texture it might be best not to use the same overlapped face perspective on the UV-map for both the front and back(same goes for sides),because as you can see the back has the text mirrored.All you need to do is mirror the uv face on the back and you can still have an overlapped map.

And one last thing...
Quote: "Time Spent: Over 8 hours "
Geez...Ease up on the work process.I admire the dedication , but 8 hours is a tad too much.

Sorry if I sound like I'm nit-picking , just wanted to steer away from the usual comments and (hopefully)say something useful.

Keep it up! (overused?)

Abhi,
I may be 15+ minutes late for 12 today... I can do it later because I know it must be late where you are. I don't wan't to keep you up after a model that took 8 hours. You need your sleep man. Take a nice, very much needed break. I can be up late today soyou call the time (just not past 12:00 a.m., we all need our sleep ).

@Gencheff:

I can always count on you to be honest and helpfull cant I Gencheff! Thanks mate! Now, onto your points;

1. Yep, know about this mate... Realized it was stretched too late. Unfortunately, unlike Wings and Truespace, Milkshape doesnt have an option to lay down a checkered pattern from within editor, so if i wanted to do that I would have to manually add the checkered grid. But I suppose its worth it... would have saved a half hour of time on this model. As to keeping the proportions, I was trying to use UV Space as effectively as I could... didnt realize how much damage I was doing in the process lol And yeah, like I told someone, UVMapping is a skill in and off itself, and one that I am still to get even a little good at.

2. Uhhh... there's no text on the model? I think you mean the dot pattern? Yeah, the reason for that is I didnt split fronts/back on the UV Map... should have, but since I wasnt 100% sure what the texture was going to look like at that point, I just thought it would be easier to minimize the required space. Guess you should plan the model before you actually start building huh ?

Nah, it took 8 hours from start to finish, including modelling, unwrapping, texturing, and makign fpsc ready. One of the biggest reason's I lose time is that I have 2 laptops; One with an internet connection and one without. The one without net has my modelling stuff and the one with is what I use for all others. Its a pain trying to get ref. images between the two computers and to try and find good references for the textures. When that became too hard is when i decided to just screw it and hand paint the texture lol... and that took time. Im sure ill get faster as I get more experienced

Quote: "Keep it up! (overused?)"

to the point of overkill, but Ill take it

@ZP: Thanks mate! Glad you like it!

Cheers,
Anayar

I think you misunderstood what I was talking about.I meant the dumpster with the text "Garbage" on it.

As far as the time taken,I know how it is when working on one laptop,not to mention 2.

And yes,UV-mapping is a skill indeed and it's very annoying at times(Especially on organic models).

Oh, yeah, got it. But in-game it appears the correct way... kind of weird. Yeah, the two laptop thing is getting really annoying, Im trying to learn truespace so i can shift over to one. Man, the one organic model I tried (used Zbrush), the uv map was an epic fail (the one I created... the oen by Z-brush was fine lmao)

@BeastMode: That was fun huh? But man it was frustrating as hell lol. Do what you want with the model

@Darkjames: Thanks mate! Glad you like it

Ill upload Day 5 and Day 6's model's today. Sorry for the wait... but I must warn you guys, todays models wont be quite as complex (if you can call it that) as the phone booth model. Probably a light or something I need a break lol. Thanks for all the great comments !

Unfortunately I just tested Day 6's model In-Game and found a terrible texture error (which occurred from an unplanned foreground texture change ). I will not release it without fixing this error. Im off to bed for now, but first thing in the mornign tom. I will fix the texture and get this uploaded for you guys

For now, you guys can just get a taste of the model with the texture error

@Crysis: Okay.

Alright, fixed the texture of the drinking fountain (somewhat). Here's Day 6 as promised. I gotta go get some sleep now (dont want to start typing like yesterday), but keep the C&C coming guys!

Day 6: June 25th, 2011
Model: Water Fountain
Polygons: 270
Time taken: 1.5 Hours
Screenies: (Thought the png's were too large, so i used jpegs with a background. For those without the "chill" color theme will find it odd)

Texture (Its here lol):

I tried a different texturing style with this one (Using Gimpressionist)... Personally I think it didnt turn out as well as I had hoped, but lets see if you guys like it . Hope you guys are enjoying these models

@PFG: Thanks Mate! And no problem... I liked FPS-Files and the people there which was why I volunteered lol

Anyways, I got hit by a car today... first time in my life. And it had to happen while I was on vacation . I was walking down the road (yes road, because in India noone uses the sidewalks), and a car came from behind, honked so loud I almost got deaf, drove right through me and kept going. Well ofcourse he didnt drive RIGHT through me or I wouldnt be typing this, but the side of the bumper hit my hip (or as the doctor called it "posterior superior iliac spine" or something) and sent me flying. Lucky for me there was construction going on on that road and there were mounds of dirt everywhere... and Im not exaggerating when I say I 'ATE DIRT'! So now, after a 4 hour trip to the hospital (where there was free wifi... thank god!) I am back home with a hot/cold pack pressed to my back... not fun. I have no idea why I am typing all this, but I guess thats what the painkillers do huh?
