Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Start pulling some strings with the people you have worked with/for. Example: Intel. BLOODY INTEL! One of the two worlds largest processor developers and manufactures. Let them in on this project, I am sure they would donate. Have you worked with any other large companies? This community is trying to expand the software outward but we are only aspiring game developers. Most of us do not know anybody high up in the game development world. TGC has had years of experiance in buisness and in the gaming world, you guys must have some sort of contacts with multi-million dollar companies. Didn't you guys do something for microsoft? See if they would donate to you, they dontate to a lot of companies.

There has to be a large company out there that would do this in a heart beat. Or at least to help get the word out.

I think anything could happen the next 21 days...

But to be honest, when I saw for the first time that we only had 30 days to fund the project, I kinda thought you guys were being a little ambitious with the deadline, especially with some of the higher stretch goals. I just don't believe that we have a big enough backer-base to fund money that fast. Of course this is just my opinion, but If it was me I would have ran the pledging to end on christmas or something like that.

The only way we can get this to work is if we advertise, and I think there needs to be a community-wide effort to make a video or something to promote the kick starter. I imagine that if we had a contest to see who would make the best promo video, and enough people made vids and uploaded them all to youtube, then that would probably get the word out very fast. The winner would get a prize, of course, but I guess it would just motivate the community as a whole to pitch in and help, not that it doesnt already.

Just my 2 cents... I could be wrong with whatever I say, I know, but that is my opinion of the situation.

EDIT: But in other news, I found something very interesting just 5 seconds ago, check this out:

embed code:

It shows that the amount of pledging is increasing just ever so little....

Just to let TGC know...
I have embedded the Kickstarter video and links on my main website, gazzbass.com.
I've been a bassist for around 29 years and have built up a following on the Internet this past 12 years, giving bass lessons, etc.
Hopefully, this'll pull in some pledges. (bass playing and game dev go surprisingly hand in hand in my experience...)

Great job everyone! People also need to be aware that FPSC doesn't mean they have to create violent shooters. Letters Kingdom is a good example.

Okay folks! Time to make your pledge! It's the weekend! Skip the pizza, ice cream, beer or movie just once and put that money instead towards helping make this happen. This thread has had over 6,000 views since it started 10 days ago. Clearly lots of people are interested! But it can't happen if you don't do your part! Everybody wins if they make their goal. So, just skip a treat and put that money towards something you will enjoy for some time to come!

All that is needed is a little less than 2000 pledges at 20 quid. Surely there has been at least that many people who have ordered FPSC in the past. That can't break you can it?

I think electric chihuahua has a point though. If you got extra money lying around, why don't you just put it to good use?

Also, I'm wondering if people are not pledgeing because they are waiting to see what the results will be later in the game for the kickstarter, in that case they should pledge now, because it would make the kickstarter look better with the higher fund amount and it would attract others to pledge as well.

We are starting to trend toward a less and less amount every day, this might just come right down to the wire in the end, if that. Also the average daily pledges is starting to decrease.

I wonder if there should be a thread of a list of forum members here to see the percentage of people who have pledged, and who still has to pledge. I think it would give us an idea of the odds we got at surviving, and it may push people to pledge just to be on the list even...

I also think that if TGC updated this daily or at least every couple of days we would have many more backers as well, because nothing has really changed the last three or four days... It doesnt have to be a huge update everyday but just little comments on how things are shaping up in between larger updates (like the parralax update)

i think there were a lot of people who pledged on the survey, and have decided or never had the intention to make a pledge, its easy to say yes i will pledge x amount, but when it is in front of them they do nothing.

to lee bamber, i will re donate my cash to you if you do a tgc fund donation direct to you, just to make the engine better and bigger, so if this does not work out, look to us who donated and maybe improve fpsc to within its funded amount.

im sure others would also give the cash to you. this time you know who has a voice with backing. and those who squalk with no support.

sorry all but i get frustrated.

rant over

to all who have or intend to make a donation good on you and a hearty handshake to you. those who cant, ignore my rant and its not meant in any mean way, fingers crossed it will come good

I will re-donate my pledge as well if you don't meet the dead line.
Plus i may even be able to donate a bit of money every month for a few months. but will we still be able to have our DVD version of reloaded?

I would also re-donate in the unlikely event of Kickstarter failing.

Those of you who sit there quietly waiting, go donate NOW! If you pledge at least 25 pounds you will get the full downloadable version of FPSCR once it's released. Why wait if you can pay lower for something you will buy anyway (oh, yes FPSCR will that great! ).

@ Grooovy: Maybe you should embed Kicktraq on your blog so others can see how the ckistarter is doing as well, I think that it could possibly give people that extra little motivation to pledge...

Nice job promoting the KS too!

i don't see anything about the kick starter on the freedom engine site Why not lee?
people need to get this seen outside the forum. like on college chat rooms. 3d modeling sites... ect... Tweet about it. IF you know someone in a band that has many facebook our youtube followers, ask them to post about it.

I want to, but I need PayPal. How many others are there like me? Who knows. If kickstarter fails then TGC should set up something similar, like an internal kickstarter. This way whatever quantity pledged it would make some difference to FPSCR.

I think I read someone suggested a Visa Gift Card. Load it with your pledge amount and then go to Kickstarter. Not sure if that will work but it sounds reasonable. I know its a pain but worth a try.

I will try to donate in the coming week if the weather cooperates.

I think to get prepaid visa's to work you have to go to the website they provide you with or something to enter some information.

I have donated to a couple dozen different projects and have been tracking this since the start. The sad news is, at it's current rate, we are looking at coming up short about 14000.

The bad news for thegamecreators and for fpscreator in general is all of the bad will that it has created over the years for failing to address bugs and usability issues.

Now I want this to work, but I just don't see it happening. I believe that tgc is on it's last last leg and is just trying to raise enough money to continue going as people just aren't buying the software at least not enough people are to keep this project going. This is a last ditch effort and I am pulling for them as this project has promise, but don't get your hopes up. At this moment and without a miracle this project won't get funded.

Well it sure seems like it mayy be picking up steam again. We jumped from 20 percent to 23 percent funded just today!

I am still a bit skeptical though, but I'm not gonna make any calls yet...

i think if reloaded dont get fully funded most of the people who pledged will hold there ground to fund it.
lee could always make it an upgrade at the cost of £40.00
and take pre orders at a discount now so this would leave eveyone
who cant donate i.e bank card could do it through paypal

just a thought i think this could work,

just out of Curiosity how many people on the forum would be interested mabie someone could set up a poll to see how much could be raised this way, i think lee would be suprised how many people would go for it,

this would be more advantageous to the the project as it could
be done in stages starting at the £60.000 mark and further updates
up to the £150.000 stage done by either another kickstart or pre order system.

I am actively working on getting the project seen in more areas. We should have an article on IGN any day. I'm also promoting the video on Facebook and have a campaign on the virool web site to see how that goes.

There's also one new idea which when I hear back from certain people could turn us back on target. It isn't over yet!

Keep plugging away for us guys & gals!

The video was amazing! Animated sky, shaders looks great, fog looks great, particle effects, etc. Very, very nice work.

P.S. How come everyone else seems to have a backer badge? I pledged on the first day. It's no worries, just curious.

I agree with likes of what pdidy said. If Kickstarter doesn't fund make up some other internal funding program and use the money people would already pledge (and possibly more)

Thanks, Clark. I have an email from Kickstarter but nothing from TGC. It's no biggie I guess, I just got a tad jealous.

Also, like others have said, I would be willing to make a direct donation above and beyond the pledge if it doesn't go through on Kickstarter.

The response to the IGN article felt a lot like explaining Einstein's Theory of relativity to twelve year olds with downsyndrome. But maybe some more mature people red and concidered it.

The downfall of Fpsc being so easy to get hold of is that children with the attention span of a gold fish use it and don't want to put in the effort to make a decent game. Hope my comment on ign makes a difference.

That is sad but true. Its not a problem in itself...but these kids tend to spam their projects all over indieDB and youtube shining a horrific light on the software.

Agreed. This is the same problem that has plagued many game development products (even going back to Klik n' Play / Games Factory). It's not that these programs are unable to produce high quality games, it's just that many people will only spend one evening churning out a game and then release it, to the point where they all look and feel the same and people begin believing that is all that can be made.

The fundraiser is about 25% there, half a month to go.
