its just based on if you explode, are rude. or are a complete ass is dependant in if you get picked, to me a moderator just needs to be a nice, calm, and incontrol, and be a leader to many, not to be picked because there your freind

What about "I has returned"? I think he'd make a great Mod..Not that ChrisB doesn't have charm,You would make a fairly helpful Mod and an entertaining and educational one at that Chris. KeithC is very resourcesful and to the point..But then so is BenA. BenA has done very one a favor and has been a joy to the fourms..So he'd do great as a mod..Humm.

Listen, if 'I has returned' gets so much as a consideration, then I'll be very surprised.

You think maybe these posts are helping?

Perhaps Rich should have stipulated that your opinion here counts for nothing until you've been here long enough to not wait on post approvals. 22nd May, give us a break.

Now to check some IPs.

Ooooh!

But doesnt it seem a bit scetchey that mods can see ones IP address? That makes it damn easy to hack someones computer if that poor someone doesnt have a firewall...

That ip adress doesnt make it any easier to hack into the computer at all...lol you are funny guy.And how can mods ban people without knowing their ip ? ip is like indetification, nothing else.

For example, can someone controll your brain if he has your ID ?

Sig. pics are only increasing the loading time of the threads, so why have them...

Just need to say one more thing, Rich, Pick wisely, take a little look at the mostly flamed threads, and in there you will find more answers then in 100 others.

We use IP addresses to check when people create new accounts and start arguing with themselves and stuff like that. If you wanted to nominate yourself then signing up a new account and doing just that would be the way to do it, but we can tell what IP someone posted under.

It's really not so we can hack your PC - it's undeniable proof when we need it, and trolls know to fear it.

Van, but what about proxy servers? couldnt some one use one and change their IP? In that case, they could get away with two accounts and even voting for them selves; right?

Yes.

But that is why we have so many mods .

We've all pretty much been here since day 1 of Apollo, some have even been modding since before Apollo, Indi for instance I think is about the longest toothed mod here - at one point we had TDK man as the sole mod for the whole forum!.

Point is we are adept at finding troublemakers - it's easy once you have some good examples of people going crazy, or appreciating help. Every post has a tone to it, whether it's obvious is another matter, but the more time you spend in forums, the easier it is to spot the tone. Bannings often come from us keeping an eye on people after some bitter post. It's not like a vendetta or anything like that at all, it's just we all know how people can explode, and often the most positive, talented and helpful users make the biggest bang when they go off.

Remember that banning is always temporary, varying degrees of temperaryness, but unless someone totally blows a gasket they can usually get back, often they do come back with fresh attitudes.

i suffer from dyslexia word blindness when i first came to these forums it was a mod that mad fun of me and offered to ban me because of my grammer

due to my word blindness which is something i can not help

in the end i had to contact tgc direct about this

so no offense van but my confidence in mods to correctly police the forums is not very high

Most FPSC users have different issues than DBPro users. Because of the largely younger user base, we need mods that are accoustomed to posts that might be assumed as spam.

I'm not saying we'd instinctively delete or lock a post due to spelling, but I can certainly see how a mod would have came here and done a big cleanout - it's probable that there were a lot of threads waranting deletion and yours got caught up. Understand that when this board is moderated, it's like taking turns at plugging the dam - this will change with regular moderation and with moderators more familiar with the user base things will improve.

No, he hasn't. Not picking on BenA in particular, but the fact is that you can't give people that broad a range of fame. He has helped some people. Just as Iamreturned may have solved one or more newbie attacks. What many people fail to see in others is the times outside of their periodic brilliance or failure. Praising a person to the extremes shows only that you have seen one side and are now 'programmed' to see them as brilliant.

well that is true, people here are like "i need a shovle" or something like that and "i need a highly detailed large building with 1000 windows on it and something inside them all..." while the people at the dbc/dbpro arent flaming each other all the time..

Just google pallmanni and get the history of me!

It is very clear by the way this post has gone that active Mods are paramount in keeping some form of calm in this forum, if the Mods were just programmers or artists, they may become bias to their corner, and not really moderate at all.
It make so much sense to have a number of Mods from all corners of game design, to keep an equilibrium throughout.
I think the final choice of people will fit the bill, and we should just get on with game creation, while Mods get on with policing these forums, and doing the job they have been picked and VOLUNTEER to do.

Now you know why I am here to vote for new mods, so this type of idiot can be removed.

Clearly you have to be directed by others, and can’t think for your self, there is not one post within 20 days of my last, just don’t exist, so childish kids like you can’t back up anything you say, you are just a stupid little kid, who gets off by insulting other forum members, as you have no creative skills of your own.

The kid can't even spell, and keeps calling me honey, he must be gay.

Oh yeh, my Dad died about 20 years ago in a road accident, so he would find it hard to do anything just now,

my daughter had better communication skills then you when she was 2 years old, and by the way, I have never insulted you on this forum before, I never called you any names before, but you get excited by putting people down for nothing, and as for the periods between your posts, I can only guess you are spending that time playing with yourself.
And you should not make promises you do not know how to keep.

Those were the only two I have scanned so far. Most of the pictures I have are of the country I took while on convoy. I spent less than 6 months in Iraq (we went just behind the initial invasion force, attached to a Marine Expeditionary Force); although it felt like 3 years at times. It's not whether or not you've been to Iraq anymore, it's how many times. I've got a lot of currency that I bought at some of the markets that used to pop up outside our basecamps; as well as a few other things (some Iraqi kid actually sold me his homework ). I never felt bad about overpaying for everything over there, I figured I could always get more money, and they really needed it.

As a student of History I was always wondering who had been in the areas we were in, thousands of years ago. We were about 50 miles away from the Tower of Babel (or Ziggurat of Babel, if you prefer) one time; I would've liked to have seen that, but it wasn't worth getting shot at in the process. I have a picture of me on my Camel ride somewhere around here, I'll have to dig it up. You can't visit the desert without riding a camel.

I wanted to lock this ages ago. Not sure how to lock an announcement or sticky so I'll mark her as flamebait. Please only post relevant and sensible comments here, or I'll have to lock it up.

Really I doubt Rich wants to read 9 pages of this stuff, and really I don't think it's a case of vote counting. Your all nominating users here for Rich to consider for modding, that's all - it's not a popularity contest by any means. That's how it worked out the last time.
