Good work Jon! You know what youc an do to make these even more vile? Add an alternate texture of a blue, yellow and greenish flesh color, give it that "Did that rott out in your waist bin" type of look..or like spoiled meat..

Cheers,
Dave

nice suggestions RF, something certainly planned for a zombie i hope to create (deformed and missing limbs etc.)

i gave a "fleshy strain" to this guy, mostly around stretches such as the neck and the bottom of the bicep, perhaps i desaturated it too much and its not showing up so well. but saying this, i really dig the saturation on him rather than being colourful, makes him look lifeless.

just realised i forgot to post the max viewport screen which should show the differences better:

the spiders really bugging me (unintended bad pun) as i cant seem to get a grip of its anatomy, I'll get by though, progress shots soon

im really starting to hate the hands on the past three models, as the low-poly was made a long time ago, Ive got a much more accurate shape made in advance for future models. same for the faces

edit:

ok, sorted the alpha channels, also re-baked the normals, to show a little more spec:

there's no point in even listening to me when i write what im going to do next, Ive gone and moved over to a sword now, so i wont bother saying whats next, haha

progress on generic sword:

scratched up metal = yummy

there will be quite a few swords, including a 'demonic' blade, black and spiky

Jon, the blade looks too symmetrical across the center. Hope its just a WIP and you haven't mirrored the UV map

Great metal texture nonetheless

I think that theres too much white rust on the tip of the blade, tone it down a bit or add a different rust colour; I understand its only WIP.

Will this pack be availible by PayPal? And about the creatures and charachters; will there just be different chars or will they have variants of each one. E.g. Goblin rigged to custom skeleton and a version on the fpsc firespot skeleton. Imp and ogre the same? Of course not a spider as it wouldn't work.

This would make it seem like you got more chars; with only a little bit of extra work from you. It would help for those who want them on the fpsc skeleton; but who can't rig models...

Looking Great Jon; About re-textures you should have a redish imp too (well if not i'll just do it myself)

I'll stop writing an essay now lol.

thanks for the comments and the crit, Ive worked on the blade a bit and its looking cleaner around the edges (and overall) not finished yet, but I'll get that done soon.

i decided to get working on my favourite WoW race, the Tauren (cows rule!) and ive gotten some neat progress.

this being a completely new head it is a better presentation of my newer head models, and i think it looks pretty nice, also added some better looking hands, which Ive recently created. i might reduce it to only two fingers though.

chest accessories might be added (some natural armour, war-harness etc.)

I'm worried about this being dangerously close to bond1's minotaur, but i was gonna wind up making something like this sooner or later fan based.

speaking of which, i don't know if Tauren is actually a copyrighted name by Blizzard, if so that would put me back with minotaur, blast!

a side mention, I'll also be using that head on an actual cow, as a 'scenery creature' ... or just something defenseless to shoot at

Great looking model, nice variation from mine! The head looks a little small from the front maybe.

And I like the name "Cowman", it rocks!

its not perfect... it doesn't have a texture hehe

thanks guys!

@bond1

yeah, i might have scaled the head down a bit much, but any larger it kind of looks weird from a front perspective, as the head is in front of the body its closer to the camera and looks randomly huge

glad you noticed though, I'll see what i can do.

edit:

just noticed, sorry tyrano man

i am hoping that TGC will take this on as an official model pack for FPSC + DB Pro, Rick seems interested and has asked whether Ive been working on anything since m5, so if all goes as expected, you'll be able to purchase it much alike any of the other model packs.

In the event that they don't take it on, i guess I'll be selling it via my website.

It might just the eyes playing tricks on me though, I'm sure it will be easier to judge once there is a texture and lighting.

I meant the overall head. From the 2nd "front" pic it looks a little small.

ah OK, i might keep it like this, trying to make him/it look really beefed up

like you said, it will probably make more sense when textured.

sword is finished:

but still open to crit, i will consider giving both sides of the blade unique UV's.

now, to UV map the cow-human hybrid

Hi again.
The sword looks great now But giving the blade unique UV's on each side would be pretty pointless. The sword will be swung pretty quickly; and you wouldn't have time to notice those sorts of things. Also you can have a more detailed texture for the same processing power if you just have one mirrored UV and fill the uv map.

Good to hear the packs ganna be for sale; I don't use FPSC anymore; but I think i'll get yours and bonds model packs so that I can have one final blast at a game

Keep on modeling dude; your improving your skills every model you do. Can't wait to see the taurens UV map. I'm pretty sure the name tauren is copyrighted. How about minotaurus or some addition of random letters (if your that worried about confilcting with bond)

Good luck with these packs Jon and Bond

yeah, searches of Tauren, and google's definition comes up with warcraft near all the time, so i don't think i could really go with that, i'll stick with minotaur and if not, jumble some words around to something like 'mantaurus'

starting the high poly.

UV mapping early in the morning =

getting there, normally i would wait and show the full normal map, edited and such, but here's a quick bake onto the low poly, some bits are to be worked on...

(loincloth doesn't have any normals from the bake, so its being 'flipped')

thats it for tonight! i must rest my clicking finger

thanks, yeah, the smaller details are to be done in photoshop, such as the hair and wrinkles, it also looks as if the high poly could use another sub-division, there are some creased bits due to to much pinching

Hey Jon I got an idea; could you try to make the hands for your weapons similar to bonds (if hes ok with it). Because that way they would be more compatable. Just a thought.

I'll give it a shot certainly the right thing to do, so people don't have to choose between packs and can use both.

im texturing the ...cow now, progress is going well, I'll have it done later today (i hope)

thanks

yup, the sculpt was a bit quick around the ears, hopefully with the texture on it looks a little better, thanks for pointing that out though, i might pinch them and send them back a bit.

texture progress so far, i added a nose ring

legs haven't been touched yet, besides the quick hoove colour.

i may be giving him a goatee, i have some free UV space for small accessories (such as the nose ring)

Jon, That's what I'm talking about! Good stuff! Only crit I have is the texture of the skin, Perhaps making it a bit smoother would look a little better on this one IMO. And looks like a nasty little seem on the loin cloth.

personally, i like the roughness of the skin, it being hard leather, but I'll tone it down a bit so get rid of some grittiness.

the loincloth isn't finished yet in fact just started it, i should have mentioned before

OK, here's the finished result:

pretty pleased with that one, the UV map, high poly and texture finished in less than 24 hours (...i think)

currently im leaning towards creating a city guard (this wont come too close to bond1's knight, face will be exposed, and will look a little weaker (like a petty recruit )

im getting a screenshot from oblivion now, of what im gonna try and go for

edit:

ok, after some quick travelling, heres the guards from oblivion (not including Skingrad and Kvatch)

thats basically the design i was thinking along the line of, and have about 3 or 4 alterations of the main clothing in the middle

edit:

ah, actually, bond1's is closer that i thought, hmm, i'll figure something out

aticper's right cows ussually have smaller ears that face backwards more.
Tyrano

EDIT: woah didnt see page 3. The normal map and texture looks amazing! why did you leave out the best quards from oblivion? Kvatchian gaurds own

EDIT again: Love the name Taurus Warrior How about a taurus mage, a taurus archer, a taurus medic, a taurus macemen, a taurus buisness consultant, a taurus midwife....etc..etc...

according to the reference i used, cows have ears pointed out to the side, or maybe that specific cow was cautious of being photographed and put his ears forward some reason

Kvatch, i couldn't be bothered to go to, ya know, because of the oblivion gate and such, though i think they are the best too

imperial city, well, as awesome as they are, they just look more than guards

Ive got a great start on the human guard so far, Ive found that (to myself) starting the body with an already made head on top of it, really helps with getting the shape right progress soon.

wow, there's a mod to rebuild it? cool, i gotta get that

i was a little displeased that you cant visit the place even before your supposed to find martin, you know where i can find this mod?

anyway, some VERY early progress on the guard, a lot of the armour details, plating and of course, chain-mail will be in the texture, this is just plotting out the large shapes.

the shape will look a lot more pleasing to the eye with a texture on it, which is why i regret showing this

edit:

also, some details that require asymmetry such as the end of the belt to one side, are added later on.
