thanks mate, good luck with your Arabian pack, looking snazzy

petty progress, but im helping texture RF's ship model, re-animating my X10 model (in some areas) and creating variations for it, and to top it off, im lazy

reverted back to blond with black bits, im not sure i like the all black hair..

and a high poly head doodle, just made for fun, but i think i might use him for one of the civilians

Very nice work as usual Jon! From the looks of it you might be as far in your model pack as Bond!

Hey Jon, My 3D and 2D Art galleries are coming along nicely for my website.

I was wondering if I could have some renders of the models in your pack? Your name will be above each image.

Thanks in advanced, whether or not you will let me use the renders in my galleries

EDIT: I almost forgot... that model look absolutely amazing! Great work man!

Why don't you just include both textures in the pack? One with blonde hair and one wth black?

very well, except obviously i'll add some other difference (white hood etc.)

ive been thinking (and i know ive mentioned it before) that im going to try and create mounted versions for all of these characters, perhaps even the civilians, creatures will ride beasts (hyena-ish) and characters will ride horses

it sounds like im just running off my imagination and what i would want to create, yet not thinking realistically. This is probably right, but i will try to include what i can.

OK, finished, yey

since its hardly noticeable of a large change from the last update, i gave it a very quick rig for a little posing. weird deformation artifacts are going to be cleaned up, this was just a little test and all vertex assignments are at default when attached to biped. it'll be sorted when i create the real rig a lot later on.

thanks bond1, you should know why from the screenshot

wont be in the final though.

anyway, now with this cleaned up, i am going to take a short break back to finishing my assault rifle, once finished I'll be back with this pack.

w.i.p thread

lol. Erm...in my opinion with all of that metal around the hood looks a bit out of place. You should make a hood version and a non-hood version.

i don't understand, there is (hardly) no metal around the hood besides that shoulder piece.

Indecom.

Wow that you are even asking if this would be free.
There has been a lot of work into this (i think so) and the results
of the characters and weapons that are already done looks fantastic.

This pack is getting better and better when i look at this thread.
Cant wait till this is up for sale.
Keep up the fantastic work!

thanks guys, been really nailed to the ground in the past few days, i have much to do, and i never even seem to move on any of these tasks, but i think im just going to calmly finish up RF's ship texture and take my time, seem to put too much on my plate lately

@ Father Tree

I have one yes, but i rarely play unless some awesome anticipated title has just been released (CoD, Gears of war, etc.) Might have to play a few rounds of Halo 3 Beta, to bring back the good old days

@ Indecom

unfortunately, it wont be free, but still for a very reasonable price.

I should imagine that it will be available for use in DB Pro as well should things go well

The models look awesome.

How are you using the sculpted mesh as a normal map?

If I can find out how to do that, I can have some fun.

Jonh this is amazing, you texture work is great, your model nets do have a bit of redundant polygons, Im sure you could reduce them even more, anyway, your work is motivating!!!! i need to start normalmapping right now ! =P

but please, how do you make those amazing metals? and most off all, how do you texture leather !!!

Thanks Jonh, can i add you on msn ? could you mail me your msn email ? ill defenetly be one of the firsts to by the model pack

@ person99

you need to create a cage for your low-poly model which contains the high polygon model as well, then get it to extract normals from the high polygon model onto the low poly UV map, i don't know the exact process, but here is a very detailed explanation of how it works in max, and also how i do it:

http://poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/normal_workflow.htm

EDIT:

x-posted with supremacy

mainly its all down to the overlays i use to make the leather an metal, for stuff like leather, just get good photo reference and overlay to get its shape, or mask the indents for a better effect. Anything else is just plain painting, and also the normal map doing its job

I tend not to use MSN, i get far too many people spamming me, sorry.

Wow this is incredible........
I'm currently learning sculpting in blender, and I was wandering if there is any FREE way to convert a sculpted model into a normal map for a low poly one......

Oh.... and your idea of a "doodle" makes you seem like some kind of modelling god....

That was so random with the pic.
But i see where you are going with it though like in dive rock you get the unfyrkematron so that would be cool to see a monster like him in FPSC X10.

kind of planned, but think more "gladiator" for those arena type games:

that bird hybrid thing is pretty cool, will have to think about it. the normal mapped feathers would be quite the challenge

thanks for the ideas!

You have Zbrush 3 right? You might be able to do something similar to this tutorial, although they're displacements, but I'm sure there's something there that'll help make it easier.

I love these models by the way, very good work - Most inparticular, the texturing
