Glad to hear that this pack is back in business.

If i may.

This pack will it still contain a spider model or a wraith model?
I thought that i saw it on some pages before, that this pack will contain them. If i am wrong than sorry for the misunderstanding.

Anyway would like to see more of this pack!

Wouldn't an assassin be wielding a dagger and perhaps a sap in one hand? Maybe a bit of a mask? Surely there is no need for an assassin to be using a shield, as they arent meant for hand to hand combat. Assassins are more for quickly garroting their targets and taking them out with the garrote choke or a few quick stabs in the back.

Just a suggestion though! Models look SUPERB!

yeah i should have mentioned that i wont be giving her a weapon/shield, that is the owners decision to make from within FPSC.

but then again its my bad, i should have unequipped them for the screenshot.

last update for tonight, hope to UV map soon, after some more asymmetrical details are finished

the default grey may put off the contrast with the other base colours, but this is just so you can view the wire-frame a bit better, the overall clothing with be very dark leather.

also really thinking about getting rid of the loincloth.

edit:

image removed, took away the useless colours, this looks better, also took away the loincloth:

Lookin great! Make sure you add in a few subdevisions around the knee area on the drape around the leg. As it is now, looks like any form of walking could cause some problems as the leg would probably poke through the cloth. Other than that though, nice work!

Wow your work is better than Gears Of War......
All you need to do is convert each model into dozens of pieces.... and program it so you can shoot them off..... mwuhahaha.....I'm not sick..

Anyway, I don't think those need anymore work...... they're too awesome.

You should really make tutorials (please) especially on good metal texturing..... I just don't get it.

Is this going to be the next model pack??

Thanks,

E.D.

hehe, thanks.

started texturing the assassin:

not very interesting progress but meh.

Quote: "You should really make tutorials (please) especially on good metal texturing..... I just don't get it.

i tried writing a tutorial a while back, but for actual image editing its quite annoying to explain the process you take when it has become so natural to yourself, so i will most likely create some video tutorials, when i can think of something decent to use as an example and also when i get a microphone (lol)

i might find a simple SDK model soon so i can show a short texture 'session'

Yeah great skin texturing, but if it wasn't for the boobs, I'd think it was a man. I think the problem is the nose, it's very straight, wide and masculine. I like the idea of a cloaked, attractive woman out to get me. Of course it's your model, but I think maybe a rounder face, slightly fuller upper lip, and higher cheekbones would make her more feminine.

thanks,

yes i keep looking at it from the front and see too much masculinity, shapes seem to check out next to reference, but i definitely think it is that nose. Thanks for backing that up

looks fine from the side though.

I personally would say that the normal map has made her somewhat less attractive, I seem to remember the wireframe looking goood!
Woah! After taking another look at that image, I have to say - I would rather be assasinated by someone prettier, much prettier. In terms of modelling and texturing its great, ofcourse.

ROFLMAO.

god that old face looks friggin stupid now compared to this newer version, i really am hopeless without criticism this seems to be a huge flaw to my work, i can never see things until people point them out, and then it becomes blatantly obvious to me that that thing either looks completely wrong and utterly ridiculous.

i completely remodeled the head, and re-working the texture now, some things might change:

not perfect, but i feel so stupid from that last picture now, but i guess thats part of a learning phase, i haven't created many female models after all

thanks to the new head, i also managed to save some UV space, so i might create some alpha channeled hair

Oh yeah, she's cute now! Yeah you should post a pic side by side of the old and new. It's hilarious, the old one looks like a dang troll compared to the new one.

The face looks strangely familiar, was it modeled after anyone famous? Or maybe a 3d.sk person?

I like her slight pout, she looks serious, but still cute. You should have an alpha-mapped bang of hair covering one of her eyes. That would be hot.

good idea

it would also give her that more emo'ish look (after all, she does go around killing people )

I'll get working on that now

please refer to the second picture

the cloth isn't finished yet, in fact, barely even started, as Ive just spent ages redoing the face

as for the shine, that'll be sorted when i create the specular map.

Unless anyone has any really awesome character ideas i think i'll move onto the civilian character models after this, im dying to do some generic people, the heads make nice doodles in ZBrush

Like those Ents from Lord of the Rings.
(big tree monsters)

But i think that is way too hard to model.

Maybe some darker knights, skeletons with armor and such.

An angel, Archangel, big demon like a Balrog type.

yup, i have some amazing reference to those creatures, including modeling blueprints (along with many other lotr creatures) so they could be a very likely addition, though im still more excited about finishing some civilians first.

Quote: "But i think that is way too hard to model"

that should be very easy, the shapes are extremely basic, think of a tree trunk, simple cylinder. also the anatomy is not as complex as other things.

The texturing may be tricky though.

thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah do what you want to do first Jon. Don't see it as a chore to do the others. Do the ones you enjoy more first. Ent's would be cool, how about some Arcane Animated Armour. (would be quite hard without particle FX actually...)

@ Tyrano man

as long as they were alpha mapped planes which were separate objects, it wouldn't be that hard.

I enjoy making all of these models, but there are some characteristics which i love more than others, but i think the most exciting thing will be when it all comes together, especially with scenery.

today has been a very lazy day for me, and i haven't got much done, but I'll show where i am shortly.

Woot! Since thats easy could you add one easy thing in the pack? (Just cos i can't animate lol). An arcane creature made of planes, so he'll look like a sparkling cloud). With all the planes rotating so it looks like a magical ora. that should be easy to do and i think would make a great adition to mesterious worlds

Just about 20 double sided planes would give you 80 polys

Thanks,

@ tyrano

i could give it a shot, i think i know what you mean, almost like an illusion (yet still able to kill you) animated by a necromancer or what not, which i also think would be pretty cool, we'll see how things go and whether it'll fit in right

anyway, more laziness, but some progress i mentioned...

made the hair black, suits the character a lot more in my opinion, darker emo eyes, yet not over dramatic

i like the gauntlets on this one with the snazzy Celtic patterns

p.s) under the gauntlets isnt finished yet.

That is one great looking character.
(the others also)

I didnt noticed the frog creature type but man i love it.

I have a question because NPC's cant attack with a melee weapon right?
And since there is a minotaur which would look weird if he has a bow.

Will these characters be able to attack with a melee weapon?

of course, that would be the whole point of this pack

because these are custom models, i can animate them with new weapon sets, the whole reason melee animations wouldn't work with the other characters is because they didn't have any melee animations when built.

i believe it just takes a damn lot of practice, but here are some helpful sites:

http://www.tutorialized.com
http://www.poopinmymouth.com (tutorials page)

or simply search Google, there are tonnes out there on modeling and texturing.

all the generic medieval weapons to put it simply, sword, bow, crossbow, axe, spear/pike/halberd, dagger, war-hammer, mace, flail (spiky ball with chain)

and then there are some more unique weapons like a scimitar, double sided sword, dual daggers, rocks (to throw at the beggars ), fists and some sort of stealth dart shooter

and of course, ranged spells the pickup will probably be some sort of mana potion, and im hoping to get a few elemental type effects for variation e.g. fireball, thunderclap/shock, ice/water)

overall, a bucket load of work, but the good thing is, only a couple of these weapons actually require a reload animation, which is pretty much the only hard part of an animation, IMO
