YES YES YES.
You need Vista, DirectX10 and a card that supports DX10 to run the program (FPSCx10), and the games made with it will also run in DX10 and thus also require Vista.

It works well, MK83, but it has a temporary lag. You'll need to respond in a split second and hit the keys repeatedly unless you can override the system requirements then you'll be fine...Hopefully

OVERALL: The GeForce 8400GS does work with X10, but it will bne slow, possibly 14FPS, sometimes actually 80 if you're in an empty room/corridor.

Sorry MK83, I have a 2GHz Intel 2 Dual Core Processor with Intel Pentium Viiv. It's not so good on now-a-day games. I play 2005 odd games.

First Company Veteran, thanks for the info. think I'll go with the 8600 GTS 512 GDDR3 card. It's reasonably priced.

Good Idea, MK83

Vista Home Premium; nVidia GeForce 8400GS with DirectX10-ready; Pixel Shader 3.0; Intel Pentium 2 Dual Core with Intel Viiv; 320GB HDD; AGEIA PhysX engine plug-in

As for me, my system came with the 8400GS bundled and I'm not going to yank it and replace it with a vastly more expensive card when it, by gum, WILL work. It's not the greatest thing since slice bread, granted, but it will work and that's good enough for me for now.

So here's MY advice to anyone that cares, purchase the best you can afford to purchase and then live with it and have fun with your system."

Rollin money? So basically, you could get a better card for $130. atleast. so far, im hearing the 8600 series is doing a pretty good job with x10. those arent nearly as expensive as you think.

@ Chris Ganuza... if you want ATI you can get this card for under $200 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102706

thats the 2900PRO 512mb and 512bit interface

if you want nvidia:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133206

personally....the ati card would , in my opinion, be better . 512mb AND 512bit interface, and it transfers @ 102.** GB/s video memory

if you want dx10.1 from ati, then there is this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102715

the hd3850, slightly better than the radeon x1900 series in performance, which is pretty good(considering i have the x1900xtx 512mb, and it runs all my games (dx9) amazingly UT3 max settings, gears of war max settings @1280 x 1024 ~ 50 FPS .)

AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ w/ HT Technology 1000MHz FSB w/ 512KB Cache, 2GB DDR PC-3200 - 2x1024, ATI RADEON™ X1900XTX 512MB

I have a computer (turion x2 with 2GB ram) with an integrated nvidia 7600 go video card (256MB on board with another 256MB shared). It is NOT a laptop, but a HP Touchsmart IQ775

Is it possible to run and use fpscreatorx10 at all?

It is NOT possible to upgrade this card at all (no slots).

Thanks for your help.

With everyone on a tight budget I myself have to ask as well..Would these cards be any good for FPSCX10?

GIGABYTE GV-NX86T512H GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Leadtek PX8500GT TDH 512MB GeForce 8500GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported

I'm thinking of getting the GIGABYTE GeForce 8600GT but I'll leave that to a professional opinion from Rick V, Dr. Bamber or some of you who already know what the deal is.

Finally have it, so I tested and here are my results with HD2600XT.

- Random crashes(only with characters on screen, like the user who has hd 3870), I have version 7.11 and Crysis Hot Fix installed.
- the visual effects don't seem to have a major impact on performance, only the number of polygons(the same problem we had in x9)

It looks like a very nice piece of software, and when It doesn't crashes it is so. The ragdoll effect is very nice and it adds further realism and the allies feature is finally done. Can't seem to find a way to try character instancing, but only tried the program for about half an hour, so I really don't know it has the feature built-in or not.

It would be very nice that TGC optimized X10 for Ati Cards, will try 7.12 drivers tonight, maybe I get lucky.

If you are asking me, my card has 512 mb gddrIII.

EDIT:

Updated to Ati Catalyst 7.12 and...
no crashes till now! Tried a lot of entities, full eye candy and nothing! It worked(well it lagged with a lot of entities, but that's my card, not the program)

So, back to business!

Hey guyz,

Well I saw this thread & appreciated it, but I just joined & now
I need to appreciate it more than ever. See, original I was gonna get
a newer desk top pc & a grfx card to use fpscx10. But then I realized
somthing. Despite the fact that I'm more custom to pc's than mac's,
I love macs way more. & I don't wanna hear your feed back on this matter, I've made up my mind, I'm almost done with pc's. But here's
the deal. I wanna try & get a mac book pro to do all my stuff on,
I can boot camp w/ vista to run fps creator, Because the macbookpro
comes stock w/ 2gb of ram, A 2.2 ghz intel dual core & An invidia
8600 gt. But to my dismay, the cheapest version, wich is 2000$,
has only 128mb or so of ram on the 8600 gt. That's not enough, but
the next version, 2500$, Has 256mb of grfx, A slighly larger hd,
& is slightly faster @ 2.4 ghz. My question is, How well will it
run on a 8600 gt w/ 256mb? What kind of sacrifices would I have to make & How well would it look In comparisson?

8600 GT with 256 mb is not enough for full eyecandy.

Offtopic:

for those who get a bit of slowdowns when using x10 and multiple entities, use a 2gb readyboost pen. It helps, you get some more fps. In my case, something between 7-20 in crowded places, and that's a lot, at least for me, so now I never drop below 50-65 fps(in spaces with no characters - or one or two - I get 165-190 frames). Besides, faster loading times, of course. It's really a nice and cheap way of getting a better performance in X10. S4real told me he was getting nice results, so I bought one, and it helps. Besides, they are cheap, but mind buying a fast pen(mine cost only 12.99 euros, so that's very cheap indeed).

I'm getting a 512MB 8600GTS. It has more than the recommended amount of video ram and is almost as good as and 8800GTX.

How does FPSCX10 run with 8600GTS 512MB compared to 8800GTS 320MB?
The 8600 is half the price of the 8800 on newegg.

The memory doesn't really matter, for example, a 8600GT 1000MB (doesn't exist btw) wouldn't be better than an 8600GTS 256MB, simply because of the way their built, and the different shader models they support/pipelines they have.

Trust me... there is a MASSIVE gap between the two cards.

I'm as certain as certain can get.

The 8600GTS 512MB is still a very good card, it's just nowhere near the 8800GTS/X.

I'm sure only Veron is right, the 8600 GTS is the same my HD2600XT, and they both aren't nearly as good as the 8800 GTS/X. The main difference is not the quantity of Ram, but the bit count - 128 bit versus 512 bit, that's a great difference, believe me . Nonetheless, they are very nice cards for the price that can run any game today, from medium to full specs at decent resolutions.

It's better than an 8800GT, which is better than the old 8800GTS, so it's awesome.

Ok, update to drivers 8.1 and my ATI HD 3870 is working without crashing so far. 20 enemies, and 20 friendlies are all in a room in full gory detail.

I just have to turn off shadows, because there is a significant speed decrease with it turned on. Not a problem because shadows never looked good anyhow.
