@Mazz426@ Im one step ahead of you mate. A video shall be posted soon

The screenshots look amazing; especially with those normal maps in the level. But how and where did you manage to get the frame rate so high?!?! 83, 148! Is that a mod or do you just have a super computer? O_o I want those framerates X_x

@James Kravenwolf: Thanks for the kind words. In answer to your question, those framerates are achived using a Mod by S4real that allows for completely uncapped framerates and a timer system
Stay tuned

Hey all!,
Just so you all know, the reason for the lack of updates on DS at the moment is due to the fact that the horror compertition and shader development istking up nearly all of my game dev time. Im planning on continuing development for DS in a few days, but until tthe start of next week, all of my attention is going on releasing some segment shaders for you all. Im sure you all would rather me release some long awaited shaders for FPSC segments rather than...say not working on shaders at all.

Hey all!.
Finally managed to get back into DS development after all that shader coding.
Below are 2 WIP Shots showing parts on the construction chambers. Its been a good week or 2 since I have touched DS, so I hope these shots don't dissapoint! Remember they are WIP:

Hmm... I don't like the new Shots as much I liked the Demo....

The Lighting on the first Show is okay overall, but I don't like the "reddish" Color of it.

It would look much better if you increase the "lightmappingquality", also don't use Shaders that much... especially the ones on the Pipe are looking bad!

@GOH Doomster: The shader on the pipe is a Bumpmapping shader with a intense normal map, which I shall tone down now. As for the lighting, the use of red lighting was a general placeholder to see how it looked. I shall be reverting to my usual style of lighting now

I actually really liked the red lighting because it was a bit different... and for once it's bright enough to see clearly

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have now ditched the red lighting due to it creating a unnatural looking scene. Here is a Improved WIP of the same shot (Notice the Dynamic FOV in action)

These shots look really nice! Maybe add a larger light on the first new screen shot so the light casts nice shadows on the walls. Just a suggestion. Anyway, looking good

Looking much better, dude!

But I have one "complaint", the Shader on the Barrel reflects a bit to much, I think... you shall work on the Shader maps.

I have on question, tough.
Why are you using the same Segment-Textures in every Area? Not that they look bad... a bit variety wouldn't hurt, right?

Anyway, keep it up!

@GOH Doomster: Thanks for the comments mate. As for your questions, I have now decreased the specular power on the relief shader so it now doesn't reflect as much light. And about those textures...don't worry, I have made some new ones

Stay tuned

Looks really cool, but it does look a bit like everything else I've seen. While it does look very nice, and it has a great atmosphere, I do hope there is more variety in the game. Even a tiny change in light colour might do the trick.

I think it adds character and a sense of location to the level (Thus being 'The constrction chambers'), but it's only in place until I export a load more custom models in FPSC.

Stay tuned for more shots tonight

it looks great but if i'm gonna nit pick i'd say having the plank go through the doorframe like that doesn't look great, i'd move it forward a bit so it doesnt do that

and yes that may be the smallest thing to comment on but this game is now looking so good thats what we need to do, nit pick

Okay guys!, Here you go:
DS Alpha Test Demo
This demo is intended for developer feedback only..
I basicly would like your feedback on the atmosphere, lighting, and general level design. I have only released a very small portion of the level today, because im planning the official up-to-date release of the demo next weekend.
Your feedback here will help me create the best game play experience possible. Anyway, turn out the lights and get testing!

As a side note, it's also worth forcing 2 or 4 X Anti-aliasing in your Graphics Cards control panel as it gives the game a overall smooth look, and It has no effect on the framerate due to DS's complete timer system.

Stuff and Bugs I already know and have fixed
-The crappy damage HUD
-Increased the quality of the video at the end

Kudos and thanks goes to Dumpus for letting me use a few of his sounds in the level.

A quick shot of the demo

I look forward to your feedback

Does this version use pheonix? I can't seem to run games using Pheonix on my new computer

Also, a timer system does not keep framerate constant - it simply keeps the game speed the same regardless of framerate. Personally, I prefer a high frame rate over good graphics.

Nope, Its un-protected actually. I know im taking a gamble, but my policy is, if anyone steals anything, development on DS is stopped.

Quote: "I prefer a high frame rate over good graphics."

Exactly, same here. Don't worry, your FPS will be perfectly fine unless your running intergrated or on a Nvidia 5200

Just tested it as well and I liked it overall.
Here's my two öre (swedish equivalent of cents, sort of) though, also hidden not to spoil anything.

Phew, that was all. So, overall it was an impressive demonstration. I hope that the real deal will keep to the same standard, maybe even go a little higher. Great work!

Also, did you use AirMod for the timing system? Just curious
