After searching, trying, and retrying different engines, I have come to the conclusion the unless I want to donate a considerable chunk of my life to learning a new engine language such as C++, to the level where I could make a game to the graphical quality or standard as the original F.E.A.R (Or doom 3), there isnt much point considering Im off to university soon, so it looks like its back to FPSC (Until Plotonium 3D is released sometime this year)

Leadwerks has notably higher system spec requirements than FPSC, keep that in mind. Also, be prepared to do some programming, or you won't get weapons, items, characters etc. working without help. Don't get me wrong, Leadwerks appears to be a great engine - and probably far more stable and faster than FPSC (on the proper machines) but it will take more work

Check out NeoAxis engine, CoZ. I know a few guys that can get you up to speed there.

I still think it should be done in FPSC, it's too late to change IMO.

Nah. Do a FPSC version and then worry about Leadwerks.

i agree with airmod but fpsc as well take some work basically you would want to custom everything in fpsc unless all are games will look the same. so at this point it dosnt matter what engine you use it s a lot of work to put into either way. i say once you get c++ down pack you will find your self on a better level. the more you know the more someone will want you working for them plus more money.if you are passion about making video games find your self wanting to make them more than play them this is a good start. just think years ago we could never do the stuff we do today. get are hand on 3d game engines. it was either go to school for it or be out of luck. im using fpsc to build my skills up to the point i feel i can do c++. i have so much already thanks to lee b. i appreciate this program and him for making it. so i say coz if you feel up to the challenge then get like nike and just do it. all we have is time so why not make the best of it. coz welcome back dont let someone else get in your way of joy. you are good at what you do so have fun doing it. my final word to you get your game face on coz.

Im currently in the process of checking out the NeoAxis engine, but I think I will do 2 versions of DS.One made using FPSC and One made using Leadwerks or Neo Axis. That will be developed alongside the FPSC version.

Stay tuned

I recommend Leadwerks, not just because I love it, but its a good engine for this type of thing CoZ.
Good luck with this,

I recommend LWE also, except that NA is easier to use and doesn't require SM3 just to load. I can run high quality NA maps on my laptop, LWE won't even start on my laptop for example.

Either way, I would expect that almost everyone who uses FPSC would eventually move to a more robust, game creation system. It's a natural progression. CoZ told me he wasn't ready to hit C++ full force yet, so NA is a good in-between since it has excellent tools, a very active community and it is C#(a little easier to use).

Yay, you're back!
That looks super awesome, btw.
And sorry I'm so stupid, because I'm not too good in english, that are you going to make this fully FPSC, too?

I'm making a game that will be scary... I hope.

You could try Ogre3D or Panda3D (Panda uses Python, which is quite easy to use).

Quote: "You could try Ogre3D"

Ogre3D is only a Graphic-Engine, you would need to code anything by yourself... Whereas NeoAxis has already a Gui-System, Weapon-System, Simple AI etc.

Glad to see you back and working on DS, CoZ.

Tried the ALPHATUNNEL and i goto say nice work
lightning and sound (for example slamming the doors) was NICE
but the one thing that screwed upp the game
was your "Cutscenes" showing slides in order to scare a person
works on six year olds....

just rethink the cutscenes is all i am saying

What will this game cost? Because I haven't seen the price anywhere, or anything. Sorry if I trouble you, but I just like to know what everything costs... xD

Hello Josh,

I"m pleased to announce that Dusk has no REAL connection to your
game anymore. I realized that trying to string things together
with DS and Dusk proved to be a writer's block. I'm going to
experiment with stuff and an old storyboard. Also, I gave you that
video review awhile back and I'm wondering if you meant what you
promised about if or what before I get ahead of myself and plan too
big. Any special augmentations coming my way? I do not want all your hard work just handed down but at least a stepping stone for -Dusk-'s future as I will be making progress for it!

Thanks guys! Expect some updates very soon!
For now, gaze (or look) at this. Every month I do somewhat of a lightmapping "exercise", due to I like to keep my lightmapping skills up to scratch. I Basicly grab a reference off the internet and try to copy its lightmapping style, Or I will just try and recreate the lightmapping quality of a AAA Game to the best of my ability.

So, Me keeping my lightmapping skills in tap:

Lighting looks spectacular, but I don't like the rainbow colours on the hud...takes away from the horror. I'd stick with red, or maybe a grey. Everything else looks great, though!

I like the screen but HATE the door. Doesn't belong in Horror, maybe Scifi Horror, but not Modern Horror.

I agree the door does not fit the scene. And I also don't really like the placement of the light right next to the door(I have to find something to comment on)

The lighting is fantastic though, I can't wait for more!

Ahh, looked at the picture again, Another thing I dont like about it is the Light inside the fan but right next to the fan. Maybe move it back a little or something.
