So is this release the real deal? So far we've only seen demos. Don't get me wrong though, they were nice demos. Atmospheric and detailed ones.

Looks great, especially the shadows. The HUD could do with some working on though, it looks a bit bland.

Cool screens CoZ, shame the characters look out of place in the absence of segment shaders, ahh, well, they still look awesome...

CG, I agree. Maybe there shouldn't be a healthbar? It would make things scarier because you wouldn't know when you're going to die then

Or even better, use Butters' visual health thingy...

@marc steene: I had originally stuck with the No Health bar approach for quite some time, but then I just fancied adding a health bar Lets have a vote: Health Bar or No health bar? Id like to hear your opinions.

@CG: I tried Butters visual damage system, but it proved somewhat of a large pain in the backside..running around at 20% health with a bloodsplat on the screen.

Stay tuned for more

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Amazing work CoZ. You do FPSC proud.

PS. Could the final version be in ZIP. format? That way it's more exessible.

I love the hanging lights

The atmosphere is great and gives the rooms an empty, deserted feel to them. Good work

So it's not just me that noticed that then. I'm not trying to disrespect you COZ, but for a game thats apparently nearly finished, you've changed your graphical style quite heavily in the last few shots.

One of the main reasons I posted my WIP thread on the forums was to stop people mimicking my scenes and copying my level design ideas. I was keeping it all under wraps until further in development to stop this happening, but when you started almost bragging over IM, that you had managed to get hold of some of my most proud screens of my game that I thought I had kept pretty secret, I made sure to post them and put my name to them before something along the lines of this happened.

Who cares? There are many games that follow the same graphic style and share the same style of level design. Would you get mad at Infinity Ward, claiming they stole the look of the outdoor scenes in Cod games from Medal of Honor. He can do what he wants as long as he doesn't break the law.

Of course he can, no doubt about it. It's just a shame that originality is so hard to come by on these forums, and the one defining unique factor of DS, the orange, electrical lighting, has now for whatever reason been replaced by something less striking.

From a member that seems to be so repected around here, I don't know...I expected more?

@Paul112: DS has been in development for over 3 years. It has undergone many changes in style...lighting being one of them. In regards to level design style...all I have to say is get over it. The scenes I have been posting shots of recently have a different style of lighting due to being part of a "flashback" scene. But moaning about the fact that a user has a game that looks very similar to yours is childish in my opinion. Do you think the developers of Resident Evil threw a hissy fit when Silent Hill or forbidden siren (+countless other horror games) were released?? No I dont think so.
Quote: "I expected more?"

I expected more from you. Your opinion on this matter seems rather childish and shallow.

You've got the wrong end of the stick.

I was suspicious that after getting hold of some private screens of my game, you seemed to have changed the complete style and included assets which were intrinsic to my design, but I wasn't outright accusing you of copying my game, or throwing a "hissy fit" (which in light of your recent shader outburst, I don't really think is a fair comment).

Our games are entirely different, regardless of whether the scenery looks similar, so I wasn't approaching the situation from a "you're stealing my game" angle, it was just a bit odd. It makes more sense that it's just a flashback, and you haven't changed the entire style, which is what I was concerned about.

@Paul112: Thanks for explaining the situation, because at first glance it seemed that you where having a dig, and going down the "Your stealing my game" route.
I do understand from your angle that it may appear that Im stealing/copying etc your personal game style after seeing some shots of lifeless, but I can assure you that DS's roots are still firmly based in the style that you have become familiar with (although I have altered the style slightly to reflect a more realistic, real world feel), but I can safely assure you that Im not attempting to replicate lifeless in any way, and I appologise if you thought that was my aim. It was just a coincidence that you happen to be posting shots of the flashback levels when you posted.

No hard feelings

More to come all

It was pretty hard to find the correct noise effect for Demon Sun:

DO take it as a compliment, i've seen the Lifeless thread Plus you both have really unique styles that work for you.
I'm liking the 'flashback' stuff, but i thought the point of sharing work/screens was to gain crit and get a boost from other developers, at least credit the guy's style for the praise you've been getting for your recent shots.
