Wizard, these are awesome! I figured out how to do things like the windows and such myself. Would you like me to setup quarter-height, half-height, and perhaps three-quarter height (if you plan on doing that) windows/doors for you? You can include them with your complete set once I'm done if you'd like. This way you can focus on the ones that are a bit more complex, like the gantries, while I get the simple ones out of the way for you

Hi guys

Here is the early beta update of V0.5 with vents.Floor grates for pillars and a new pillar set to test out.

For compatibly issues the inclined vent and cross vent has been dropped for now.

You will still see the WWII folders are empty all work are currently going into Scifi upgrade first.

In the FPSC editor you will find a vent called Vent_straight_CSG this is the first vent that you use to cut into walls make sure that the green bit is facing the walls and not other segments otherwise you will CSG those segments as well the other segment can't have CSG enabled otherwise the floorGrate punch won't work.

Tomorrows update will still go ahead as planned with all the doors added as well as a New Upated doors that are broken in different states half opened, stuck and doors missing in other words you will be able to use just the door frames for a change.

I'm also working on reanimating broken doors that open get stock and close again still will take awhile still.

Also for compatibility issues the corridors have been put on hold for now.

So you can look forward to the broken doors section tomorrow this I hope will be some thing really neat to add to your games.

I still have many upgrade plans ahead.For example for more textured vents there is still a few texture combination left.

I don't have that planned for this release.(Maybe in two weeks time next week is user requests) What I do have in mind is to increase the size of the certain windows to about 80% of a normal segment.

But the doors will be ready tomorrow!!!

As a side note don't forget the requests for next week I need them by Tuesday.

Oh, do you think you can help me with something? I made a half-wall to align with your half-height gantries, but I can't get CSG to punch through it. I have csgimmune set to 0, any other ideas on what I could do?

Lol must have misunderstood I said sure I will help you.

Depending on how you are doing the CSG and with what software.With FPSC segment creator it might have to create the CSG meshes you will see a separate folder created which might not be created with other software.

I'm not sure what you are doing wrong or how you want it to look so I can't give advise on that.

So either you need to show me a pic of the ingame or supply the mesh and CSG so that I can fix it or explain how to do it.



Okay guys I have completed the broken doors see attached screenshot.I still have some time to kill before bed so I will quickly make the enlarged scifi windows.I'll finish off the raised doors tomorrow morning quickly and then upload early afternoon.

The FPS is fine.

Check your FPS file of the door has it been modified in any way.You must have some thing like this in your door FPS file.


Upload the door FPS file.

Which software are you using.??

Punching stuff is never fun in virtual terms you don't have the same feeling you get from punching some one else's teeth out...!!!!

Okay try importing the segemnt using FPSC segment creator has never let me down Yet!!!.

Remember The door CSG is unlikely to CSG static entity walls or dynamic walls it has to be imported with the doors to calculate the CSG.

Is this a custom wall if so it might be a little thick for the CSG to cut.Try and make the wall a wee bit thinner.

Hi guys some thing has come up so I don't have as much time as I had planned today..

Have added Window_D only for now some rendering problems with the other windows.

Added more doors to the raised doors section and added the normal broken doors section.

The doors section will be completed later this week.

For now enjoy the doors you will see I had to import the broken doors as a straight type segment because of culling issues with room type segments where the rooms don't render past the door openings only after you enter the door will it render....

Enjoy guys I hope I don't get back too late if not I'll see what I can get done when I get back and upload some more goodies.

Just wanted to point out you misspelled texturebank

Anyways, great work, setting it up now. Do you use the segment editor to offset these, or just edit the fps files? I find that for most things, it is pretty easy just to edit the fps, so I've been making my own little "collection" to add some more spice to my game

OOPS!!!

Thanks for pointing that out.

No, some stuff does require the editor for placement for example the doors and culling issues.It's just much easier working with the editor
than with fps files only like I said before with stuff that require the editor.

have your ever tried more than two CSG punches or entities on a segment??

Screen shot attached of two new door types that will be added to the broken doors section not all doors are compatible with both states so it will be the one or the other.

I haven't received many requests yet so if your still thinking about requests remember the cut off date is tomorrow.

If I don't get too many requests here are some of the things I will be doing for the new update v0.6.

Destroyable wall,floor,and ceiling panels.This will be a segment that you can add to your walls that will allow you to shoot a dynamic panel and reveal the static entity behind the panel to open doors or secret objects ect.

Destroyable doors switches.(If you destroy the switch you will be unable to use the door)

Non-animated entity screens segments that can be placed on any scifi wall

Destroyable entity screen segments(destroy the screen to show the inner workings)

So there you have it what I have planned for this week.!!

Wow, looks cool.

Maybe you could go back to work on the vents, and perhaps, make them smaller. They are so big that you can fit a chair standing up in them.

The vents sizes are 50 by 25 if I make it 25 by 25 there are going to be collision problems like your head sticking out where it shouldn't be sticking out.

So to be on the safe side I left it a little above crawl height....

This is what I have in mind for the panels there will be three types one visible and one will be blending in with the wall texture and the last will be a fake panel(Still be a dynamic entity but a fake segment behind that).

The same type of idea around the floor and ceiling panels the only addition would be CSG floors.

Nothing is set in stone so I will likely make some changes if there is any changes you would like to see with regards to the panels let me know.

By the way these panels will all use stock textures....

I didn't like the previous panel textures and decided to change them to something with a little more spunk.Here is the floor panel.

The floor panel will cover most floor textures mostly metal.

The new ceiling light as well as a wall pillar, I have upgraded the round pillar a little bigger and more smoother less blocky.

Hi guys here with another small update
Media upgrade mini 2

This upgrade updates the round pillars however you will find two pairs of round pillars you can the deleted the old round pillars folder in the segments folder if your not going to use it any more or just keep it if you still have any use for it.

This update includes
The updated round pillars
The ceiling light
The wall light
Raised floor segment
Dropped floor segment(requires feedback)
A full segment pillar.

Now that I think about it there is still one or two minor stuff that I forgot about regarding the scifi segments that I'm going to put in Sundays big release with the WWII update.

With regards WWII

There isn't a lot of media to work with so I need some feedback with regards to what content you would like to see.

This is what I have in mind
Trenches
Sand bags
Stone hedges
Prison Segments
Bunkers
Dynamic segment upgrades

Currently terrains is not on the cards.I'm looking at adding few more segments so you can build the inside of a sub and ship however this requires a lot of research.WWII media doesn't need an upgrade but rather a big juice injection of new media.

So I will be doing the basic things this Sunday and just update with new screenies ect till I have some thing worth while to release.

And thanks a ton for the scifi stuff - without it, my scifi contest entry would never have been started, let alone look as good as it does. I find that you can make very nice room layouts by combining different height segments, so I've made several walls, windows etc to compliment your collection. It's all coming together very nicely, thanks for the pack

I hope it suites your game.

I my self is planning a small project called "Project Daniel" it requires a lot of research but it's worth it.It's based on the German underground bunkers build during the 1940-1944's in mountain faces due to constant air raids the Germans were forced to move their war factories underground.Some of the tunnels were up to 20 miles long.

The one I'm focusing on was build in Poland at the end of the war the Germans burnt important documents and blew up sections of the tunnels it is not sure what they were hiding some speculate that Nazi gold or even worse to seal in the war prisoners that worked in these underground factories.No one really knows what evidence they were trying to hide in those tunnels.

Whats so nice it's all based on true events and to date I have not found any game that a tempts some thing similar.So it's really some thing fresh from that view point of the war.

@Airslide
You would agree period games are the hardest games to make as you some times have very little history or resources to work with.

Hi guys

My bandwidth is limited so I can't load a full game for you to test out if you have downloaded all the media and installed it correctly here is a FPM map file best showcasing the use for the new media.

Full light mapping might takes awhile 2 to 3 hours(I have lightmap quality set to 50) so quick light mapping takes anbout 6 to 10 minutes.
