I might enter. Or I might not because I am working on the FPNS contest AND the Scifi contest. But I will think about it.

Hey, Ply, just re-read the rules, I have a suggestion. Your mod obviously allows for an incredible amount of new gameplay possibilities, and I'm guessing that's why you've got the extraordinary gameplay mechanics bit. But the other two common mods, Airmod and S4Mod, don't really add new scripting commands. Do you thinks you could even it out a bit by changing it that both level design and extraordinary mechanics have 25 possible points?

@Toasty:

Sorry, but the name of the game is "Extraordinary", be it media related or gameplay related. That is the essence of Mods. Level design comes naturally with FPSC. It will be a part of your score, but won't have as large of an impact.

I designed this contest so that both graphical oriented individuals and gameplay oriented individuals will have a fighting chance. You'll notice that media related scores make up half of the total possible points.

@marc steene:

I'll add you to the list.

Lighting will be taken into account when judging level design, as it is an inherent feature of the level.

Story will also be taken into account with level design, as the story will help the player to determine their objective and move through the level. In depth stories are appreciated (especially for full games) but are not required for this contest.
Basically, if the player knows what they are needing to do in order to finish the level, you need not worry too much about a story.

Ah, that's fine then. It was just a little hard on me because I can't script to save my life, but graphical stuff is where I really shine.

I might make my game late because the contests I'm entering can't have mods so I have to make them first. When I done, I'm gonna use the S4mod to speed up my game!

@Jak Pennin:

I'll add you to the list

@marc steene:

I am not one for censorship, however if your game should violate the rules set down for this forum, then I'll ask that you send it to me directly via email for judging.

I would like to have the winners' games posted up for public display, though. Since this is the case, any winning games that contain excessive violence or profanity of any kind will be asked to remove them for public display.

Any type of mod is acceptable, but the engine must be that of a Source Mod. So combining a source mod with an external mod is acceptable.

Remember that graphical effects will be judged based on their tributes to the game as a whole. So keep a handle on how it effects your game.

Are we allowed to use mild swearing then, such as 'cr*p', 'damn it' etc.

I don't find those offensive, but others may. When in doubt, cut it out.

As I said, your game may use whatever level of violence or profanity as you see fit. If you are unsure whether or not it violates the board rules, then just send it to me via email to be on the safe side.
