hah. I already relpied, Toasty.

There's nothing too special really. You can do this with the G36C anims as well. The key thing going on is that in the zoom animations the root object gets scaled to around 600% on horizontal and vertical axis and scaled to about 50% on depth. This allows the scope to fill the screen while staying far enough away from the camera plane that the geometry does not get clipped. Hopefully, I'll get the G36E wrapped up soon which has a similar effect but shoots full-auto.

BTW, ALL THE SNIPERS ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON GCS: M700A1/2/3 and M40A3A1/2!

FREE SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL MINI-PACK!!!!!

A Pack of four different colored (white, red, green & blue) LED personal navigation lights!

These are like those key-chain lights you squeeze to turn on with momentary switch. Features unlimited battery life and ease of use (no scripts). For this to work correctly you need to be using a mod with AirMod inside or an official update past 1.12 or thereabouts or else the light will flicker.

THIS WILL BE UPLOADED TO GCS AS A NORMAL FOR-PAY ITEM BUT YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT HERE FOR FREEEEEEEEEEE!

SEE THE VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AZTn4pdm9Q

Download attached to post- Enjoy

PLEASE NOTE: The light doesn't play well with shaders. In the video I am running with the shader mode on but the shaders on the guns disabled. The LED "weapon" is fully skinned so it is semi-compatible with Bond1 style shaders (like wizzard staff) but I couldn't stop the whole hand from glowing LOL. I don't know how shader enabled characters or segments will react to the light.

Dude, that is SWEET! That's very generous.

Off topic; I made that weapon I emailed you about, Errant. If anyone wants it they can find it here.

EDIT: Ah, now I see how you accomplished that. That's smart. You could make a proper torch with this. If only you could have an alt-fire thing like in airmod but with a bit more mechanics...

cool!

edit:

Quote: "If only you could have an alt-fire thing like in airmod but with a bit more mechanics... "

Oh, you mean like hit people with it alt-fire? There are limiting factors with the altfire system.

I went the LED route because the light isn't directional and can't be made to be.

Glad you like it (the light and the license LOL)!

I've updated the news post with this (2nd post in thread).

The mini light pack has been uploaded to GCS and is awaiting approval. Cost is only 50 points.

Does anyone know if muzzle flash lights work in multiplayer? It could be pretty sweet to have a Ply's Mod MP level all dark and have using a light and a gun because the light should be local to the user. Think flashlight tag... with guns LOL

I'm surprised you didn't make a whole battery reload animation for the light, like reload it with those tiny little circular batteries. It'd be great for horror games; the whole place is pitch black, so youd need to keep finding batteries and use it up sparingly while there's all these zombies wandering around...

You can just place more of them in the level. It's more realistic to find a new one than to carry around a tiny screwdriver and look for watch batteries

I've had a few lights like these and they lasted dozens of hours. The cheaper ones are even glued together and expected to be disposable.

If using Ply's mod you might be able to have a script detect the "weapon" is being used and have a % chance to swap it with an identical version which is less bright to simulate it loosing power.

@Errant

Nice light works really well in plysmod. Will be using this allot.
Also if your taking requests of sorts i have an idea for a weapon that i and im sure others would like to see, a double barrel shotgun like the old ones that farmers have you know the ones i mean. The image attached shows what i mean if your not sure.

Maybe a clean and a dirty variant of this type of gun would be good i would defiantly buy it.

Sweet man! Thanks

OMG a lighter would be sweet. WW2 guns would be cool and guns that are hardly in many games. How about a Galil AR?

Hah! That was my original plan before firerate was added... It would have been a lighter out of fluid which can only make a flint spark every time you click. It can be done better now but you really need a flame decal for it to look right. This can sort of be done using smoke but there's a hard-coded limit to the number of smokedecals active at one time making the effect intermittent and when you move the decal can bobble/trail out of place. This is the problem which has stalled me on flamethrower development. It might be possible to simulate the flame with geometry but I'm not sure it would look right/good.

Quote: "WW2 guns would be cool and guns that are hardly in many games. How about a Galil AR?"

I'm not that into WW2 but I recognize it's a popular genre, so anything is possible. I hope to do some older '70s-'80s weapons later like Galil of FAL when I have time because It's more fun to texture classic metals vs contemporary plastic/polymer. Time will tell.

No worries. You're not putting anything on my back... Merely pointing at the monkey that has taken up residence there
I've been working on them but I keep throwing out animations as I update my rigs. The delay should be worth it because they will benefit from all of the R&D done for the other weapons. So, it's been delayed but hardly forgotten. You'll likely see a big push of assault rifles before too long.

Glad people are enjoying the lights

I really AM enjoying the lights. For once, an effect in FPSC seems genuinely realistic. I've used some of these LED lights before, and this one really does light up like a real one.

Youre not alone; we all have them

Why not have the flame like a muzzleflash but built into the mesh? And then when it's textured you can use an illumination map.

EDIT: Speaking of SCARs, that old massive battle vd that Airslide made; what was the fire sound for the SCAR in that? Just curious, it sounds cool.

Yeah. I took a pragmatic approach to choosing the light source model based on what was suitable to the effect I could use from the muzzleflash.

Quote: "Why not have the flame like a muzzleflash but built into the mesh? And then when it's textured you can use an illumination map."

Because I don't have a shader which can produce an illumination effect on weapons the same way you can do it on segments. Otherwise, I could do lasers and crap as well.

I don't know actually. Might have been from mp6 or something. He could tell you but I think he's out of town this week.

Yes. Follow the directory structure in the .zip to know where everything needs to go.

The folders LEDWHITE, LEDRED, etc. must be in

L0L3R - What modification are you using? To my knowledge only the latest version of Ply's Mod and S4Mod allow dynamic lights (which the flashlight uses) to work with lightmapping.

If you can see muzzleflash light from normal guns then the LED should work. You can see in the video there are lights placed in the level.

Plystire developed a fix for the problem, I don't think EFX has it. You can probably try disabling darklights (go to setup.ini, there is an option for the old lightmapper) or switch to another mod.

I praise Ply's mod because of the lightmap normality, the lightmap issue is what always turned me off of other mods... So I'm a Ply Guy
