i have a rather... advanced suggestion.
the reason people are so attracted to multiplayer games is because of gun customization (COD4) right?
cutting to the chase, how about class based multi-player, it could be possible, just have the multiplayer code refer to text files (like a gunspec) all of these would set properties like
the names of a class
the number of classes
what level the player has to be to use the class (or gun)
what gun the player has chosen for the class ( or the gun set for the class)
the model thar gun will refrence
a weapon attachment
the model of the gun with the attachment
etc.
i know that's a lot, but i really wanted to tell someone this (twas thinkin' of it all day
