Can't wait for a texture.

Apologizes, I said that wrong...or you took it the wrong way.

Just looking at the screens it seems you would have some odd stretching in the butt and torso area if you rig him, seeing as it's one mesh(looks like it). Also, personal preference, I would have kept the armor a separate mesh. Also the chest detail I would have done with less polys, more texture and would have kept the front pockets as separate meshes, another personal preference.

I didn't mean it was bad, just thinking I'd have gone a different route. The models not finished so I can really say much without seeing it done.

Hope that cleared up my rudeness, keep up the good work.

You should make your own game with that. You could just texture each suit differently for dif ranks.

Awesome, that's all I can say to be honest...

Are you going to texture and rig those characters, because they sure do deserve it!

He uses the dodge/burn tools in the right place and gets good results for it.

thanks guys
its a very simple texture.a basic grey background ,added some noise, dodged & burned the lines in .a new layer painted with a few grunge brushes in grays & white set to multiply, new layer added highlights in white set to overlay, one more layer painted in browns & blacks to add dirt set to normal but the opacity set very low.i then generated the spec & normal maps from the layers.thats it took about 5 or 10 mins total.

heres the basic texture

Great texture work. How do you add the perfect small lines? Just holding shift and dragging with the burn tool? or is it more complex then that? How do you do those reflective renders in max? Just copies of the models mirrored on the Z axis?

Can't wait to see more.

I like it . As good as your advice is, I found it easier to figure out the way by myself. It sets in much better than following a tutorial, but still, what you just said is very useful, thanks for that.

yes just shift drag with dodge & burn

Quote: " How do you do those reflective renders in max? Just copies of the models mirrored on the Z axis?"

no they are just sat on a plane with a reflective material.

You should have really did a High poly AO Bake as at the moment it looks quite boring and flat, hope you can bring some more life into this from the texture, keep it up.
