Just one thing, maybe you have a bit too much going on in the diffuse, metal is generally very flat. Nice work on the update.

What you call nasty and cheap, we call god-like . Really though, that scratch-work on the metal is just beautiful.

SJHooks- Actally, not really, lol, it looks nice, but unrealistic at the same time, like the clouds that you can see on it arent usually on there.

NO OFFENCE IN ANY WAY INTENDED Henry, im not saying i can make anything better, but i think saying the things that need improving is much better than just praise, im not trying to be an Arse in any way.

Umm, not that it's any of my business, but honestly it would save space if you guys don't spam this thread like it's a chatroom. Not trying to act like a boss-like figure, or an enforcer, just saying that when it comes to stuff like this, I have the mailback option on, and my email gets spammed with messages about this thread, but most of the time they're comments that don't really involve me or things I'm interested in...

I always thought that modern games have guns with 4000+ tris, but then again, that is my incomplete knowledge of things. What I do know is that you managed to acheive a great look for a gun with less polys. Does 3DS Max automatically have many normals in a single poly?

most do mate & this one will be a bit closer to that when its finished.that said you can make a gun of 600 or 700 polys look good if you put the details in the right places & have a good texture.

looking forward to seeing it mate

thats the plan ,i need as much textureing practice as i can get, i think thats what lets my models down the most.

Quote: "Handle needs a revamp i think, looks very low poly compared to the rest"

as i said in my earlyer post its still a wip,i am just blocking out the basic elements i will then go back over it & sort out any areas that need work then optimize the whole mesh before i start the unwrap & texture.

Oh ok, never mind then, you might want to model the handle as a separate mesh, will help later on.

your texturing is just to realistic. when i first saw your models i was like "wow, he's good at modeling" then i saw the texture and i was more like "how did he make that photo look like he modeled it???" XD

That MP5 looks great! PS: with all this great stuff, you really should update your website, unless everything you've made was for a/some client(s).

@henry ham- Do you model as a hobby or is this your job? I'm amazed at how much work you go to to limit the polies, yet replace the details on the object with the texture map. Nice job, it would be cool to see you model and texture a wizard staff.

Cheers,

Beastegargoyle

Quote: "you really should update your website"

your right mate i will try & find some time over the next few weeks & post up a few new free models.

Quote: "why do i feel like its difficult making guns that's cylindric in its body? XD"

it may help you to block out you model in very basic primatives first to get the basic layout down then go back & add details afterwards.try not to go mad in any one area keep the same level of detail throughout if you can remember if you dont need it dont add it.a lot of people make the mistake of making to high a poly model that is so hard to texture that they abandon it ,keep them as simpile as you can it will make life a lot easyer when it comes to the unwrap & texture

Quote: "Do you model as a hobby or is this your job?"

its just a hobby mate, that said i do take on a few freelance jobs but they are just pin money that i put to buying tutorial books & dvds to help me learn.

Quote: "it would be cool to see you model and texture a wizard staff."

post up some pics & i will add it to my todo list

cheers henry
