I'm getting excited. This is going to get me back to being an active DBP programmer.

Still haven't come up with a better name, but I've fleshed out the mechanics a bit more. Just need to do some testing and then I'll post more about it in my old development blog.

EDIT:

Oh God! Why doesn't the editor allow me to create a new project?!

I, Dar13, pledge to finish a working alpha build of WTLD within the first thirty days of 2012.

Can't really guarantee much more than that unfortunately. Seems like my progress has stalled lately, due to my inability to create media.

Ok. I'm having too many issues with DBP on Windows 7. It's annoying me greatly.

So here's what I'm-a gonna do...

I'm gonna use this time to study C# and XNA and develop SOMETHING with it, even if it's just a basic 2D game I'm going to do it. I've been meaning to learn it for like three years now, and this time I'm FINALLY going to be serious about it.

I'll let you know what I come up with.

What kind of issues?

Same old stuff I always run into with DBP on Windows 7. The default IDE barely works and never wants to allow me to create new project files. CodeSurge hardly works and when it does, it doesn't save my work. I've been hoping Hyrichter would fix it, but he's too busy developing CodeSurge 2.0. Indigo is great but is still in its beta stages and also barely works.

Great sigs there, Blobby!

Good news! I got DBP to work. Turns out I forgot how to use the default IDE.

So I'm back to my game idea - RoboCube. Now just to start the basics of it.

Nope, you didn't, however, I added a change to the name. It will now be called "RoboCubez", and the genre is puzzle/action. I'm excited because it will be something completely different to code and it'll be interesting to figure out the mechanics!

Hmm... I guess you could find out the ASCII codes of those symbols? You'd probably need to use a system default font that contains a full set of ASCII characters though.

I, WLGFX, pledge by the 30th Jan 2012 to have something quite insane and bizzare, whether it be a game or demo, but complete and without bugs, run-a-bubble, complete and test-a-bubble.

Is my pedge in, and in time?

EDIT: There, that's me in for turmoil from the missus...

EDIT2: What languages?!?! I'm C/C++... Do I have to use anything else???? I can do a little bit of DBP...

You can use what ever you like WLGfx, but you'll only be able to make a WIP in the WIP board if you use a TGC product (not essential though). And yeah you're in time - there's still 5 days left to pledge

OK. I really dunno what gives, but code that I have used in DarkBASIC before that I know worked in the past will not work for me now. I've been messing with it for the last few days trying to get it to work and it refuses to. Even stranger, something I coded the other day that worked fine stopped working, and I had to re-program it to get it working again. But I didn't change anything when I typed it all in a second time.

There always seems to be some problems with DBP when I start getting really serious with it, at least since I've gone to Windows 7.

So I'm going to re-pledge for a different goal. I will make RoboCubez someday, but not this year.

I, Yodaman Jer, pledge to create a working demo in the first 30 days of 2012.

I'm learning C#, so it will be a small 2D game made with XNA. It'll probably be just a point-n'-click shooter.

Well, this is it guys, NaGaCreMo starts at midnight tonight! I expect everyone will be sitting in their bedrooms/basements, coding away feverishly, resenting the noise of the cheerfully partying "normal" people up/downstairs, wondering why none of them seem to realise the importance of this time...

Or you might just be celebrating New Years and getting down to work the next day, whatever suits you! xD

(for those of you looking for a reason to procrastinate already, are in the UK and aren't doing anything for new years, there's a QI marathon on Dave from about 10:00PM until 3:00AM so that'll be interesting )

Whatever you do, good luck with your projects, hope everyone finishes in time!

Hey, I started two weeks ago!

But then I tossed that out 'cause I want to develop with XNA. Speaking of which, I just got a book on game programming with XNA + C#, so I should be able to produce something in the next month!

EDIT: Tbh, I'd rather get Transcendent finished, so I'm gunna try and release a demo for that instead.

If anyones interested in seeing the development of it, I'll be maintaining a livestream which I'll broadcast when I'm working on it, instead of making a WIP thread.
