cheers... I have to stick with a gif, in case I make an animated banner in future and also to remain consistant in both future posts and older posts they all get updated at the same time ^^

Sadly Only posts after July 2011 will have this feature and older posts of mine will have the banner missing.. not that much of them were important because in february I am closing down my old website as it has its own hosting package and is kind of redundant now...

So I shall be a little depressed even more come february and february also marks a one year anniversary of my near death experience last year so hey ho full circle another part of me dies a year after... what next year?

I'd like to change mine. WTLD is nowhere close to being ready for alpha release.

I, Dar13, pledge to finish a working and somewhat polished sidescroller shooting game within the first thirty days of 2012.

Nice one Dar13...

I've noticed some good pledges going on here too. And I don't think mines going to be even close to being upto scratch compared to what I've seen.

Almost gave up this morning until I eventually had a sleep and realised my vector class wasn't written correctly. So I'll plod on.

I'm doing mine using Pure GDK and C++. What's everyone doing there's in?

To be honest mate, I wouldn't give up, regardless of what you're doing or how well you're doing it, NaGaCreMo is just about doing it. It's encouragement to get your project rolling and for you to achieve some results.

Also, I'm doing mine in Dark Basic Pro.

Yeah, keep going! NaGaCreMo is all about finishing something, it doesn't matter about how good you think it is compared to other people

Also, mine's in DBP as well. (And i'll update your pledge Dar)

Well, it's not like I'm abandoning the project. It's put on hold while I plan out how I'm going to structure the remaining code. I'll probably be working on both of these side-by-side as it is.

In any case, I'd like to see if I can actually finish and release a game in a month. Never quite attempted that before.

You'll have a WIP for WTLD eventually, when it's more than just a character controller and some falling boxes.

Mine's not quite yet ready for a WIP, but it is like the house that Jack built. I'm coming up with something and using gaffer tape to get it working. And during the process I'm hoping that I remember were I put everything. My programming is a sphaghetti junction at the mo.

Manchester's not that far from St Helens were I am for the moment. I prefer a beer to a coffee any day (well night) although I can't get any til we get paid.

So far I've got the turret defenses on my levels working, my dialog boxes are working, my angles and lengths are now working. Just struggling finding an easy to use 3d low poly modeller. It's always nice to have a break from programming and playing with something else for a change.

I recommend Milkshape3D. Very easy to use, with a literal ton of import/export options. Main downside is the price(~$30 last I checked).

I'd recommend Wings3D - i've found it works really well fro simple, static modelling. I'd then say LithUnwrap (look for version 1.3 that has a large image splash screen, I think there's another 1.3 floating around without it that has a lot less features for some reason). It's really great for UV mapping models, imports and exports to a lot of formats and is very easy to use when you get used to it.

I'd say milkshape really comes into it's own for animating. It's ridiculously easy to rig a model, set the bone weighting and start animating, and it exports to loads of formats too.

It's the trio I used to use Replaces Wings with Cinema4D since (which is quite a bit more expensive unfortunately) but wings will do the trick fine if all you need is static, low poly models.

Well, it's not exactly a contest so, yeah I'd say you can

Slightly unrelated, I was thinking of doing a sort of round up of entries near the end, see if I could get it in the next newsletter. So if you want to be featured in it, you'll need to have made a WIP thread by the 25th

It's not something I would personally recommend, I've not got along with it.

A free combo that ought to work with DBP is (and tools that are fairly straight forward):
Wings 3D - Static Modelling
Lithunwrap - UV Map
GIMP/Paint.net - Texturing
Character FX - Animation + Export to .x

If you're willing to spend $30, Milkshape 3D is worth owning, mainly because it exports to an unbelievable number of file formats.

I'm in a rush so I'll just post real quick.

I got DBP to work again, no idea what went wrong but anyway, I now have a new game idea. This is the last time I change it, I promise!

It's called "Catch me if you can!" and is similar to whack-a-mole. Very easy to create in a month, no?

Anyway, the features:

It'll be 3D, although I'll create a 2D XNA version along with it once I learn more about C# in the next month. I've already got a basic demo working, although I need to throw out a few routines and re-code them as they're messy all heck (very spur of the moment thinking on my part)!

I'll post a WIP in the next week, as well.

Basically I'm going to make a function that will modify Sounds to sound "dynamic", or modify depending on were the listener is positioned in accordance to the sounds source. Think of a gun shot up close compared to a gun shot heard at a distance, it's more of a crack than a beefy bang. There will be more modifications of course, like vehicle engines and radio static to name a few. But that is a basic sum up

And I hope to have it done for the next news letter. ^^
Think I could nab a spot?

I have a basic tech demo here.

Feel kinda stupid though. I keep wanting to spell demo with an "i" then after I spell it I always go "thats not right" >.<

Hmm... nice way to be totally offensive and downright rude to us blind people...

You could just explain it is a sound based app... to which you could be less lazy and perhaps make a youtube video as some of us dislike downloading from silly places like mediafire or whatever that one you used is...

There was no need to make fun of blind people you need to think long before you speak out young boy...

Sorry man, no harm attended. I just thought it was clear it is a sound adjuster. my bad.

So yah, there will not be any real graphic demos. I will make some (not just a bunch of white boxes) but that time is not now.

I dono how to record off of dark basic. So I dono when I can upload a vid to youtube. But once I find out how I will do that. sorry.

I've got Wings3D, bit basic, but I suppose for what I'm after it'll do just fine and dandy. (I just couldn't find the texturing tools with it. Gimp I use a lot anyway. And I'll grab the other two now. I so miss 3DS Max (I was good with V3.1, showing my age) and it's been a few months since I last used it for doing some work for a company. And I can't get it on students license cos I'm not a student. And Blender just ka'fuddles my brain. Wings should do for some easy enough prefabs. I'm hoping to get my hands on my GameSpace which I used to have a few years ago.

Cheers...

Hey, that cam studio is cool. I seem to be having a hard time with it. For one it is not recording audio from my speakers even though I clicked it. >.<

Sorry dude. I've been looking for help, but I can't seem to find it.

EDIT words cannot express how I feel right now about camstudio. so I will let this link do it

Give me a couple of days I will be using it... but if your on win7 check your recording settings and assign your speakers as default if that makes sense...

Time to get soaked on way back home... will try to install it on that shoddy laptop I got at home and see if I can help you out further... but yeah I like it better than fraps...
