Just some basic examples; a slightly different take on what is already there.

my favourite:

different take:

just added a background blur to give a glowing effect:

could probably sort out lighting the same way and overbright overlay, but i only wanted to spend 5mins on these.
do have a small idea for a few that would fit in nicely, but i'll have to sort out the models and such

Hey some of these are really nice Keep them coming!

BTW you don't HAVE to have the word "forum" (or "the game creators") anywhere on your image if you don't want to. I'd accept just a well designed illustration too.

RobKs - very nice, I like yours

I know it looks crappy now, but it fits in with the rest of the page when you replace it.

megaton and TheBigBabou - mmmmmm, lovely

You can have as many entries as you like - remember there will be no one single winner, the winning logos will go into a rotation system.

Cheers,

Rich

@jimmy

I've been trying to read some of the text in the second one. What I see is "Rich is the master of the web" and there is something about DarkGirl in there. Other then that, I dunno what it says.

I'll probably do something with a bit more colour if I find time to do another.

Yours is actually really good and has a fairly decent chance of being chosen, it's nice and simple but still looks cool. Not to mention it's actually relevant to DBP and TGC, unlike my own and a lot of others.

Oi...my post was meant to be funny...not serious...

Eh, its my new sig now anyway, if they want to use the old image, let em use it, much better from page two though.

Cheers,
Preston

when is the deadline anyway?
I have couple example ideas done, but I'd rather post them all at once...

And I don't see anything particulary wrong about the current header. Seems much better than most of the stuff you'd get from here.

Tha said, there are couple nice ones here too.. Raven's see-through text (+the subtle hieroglyphs) and Mussi's chrome... which doesn't fade to black on the left, btw.

Thanks And good job to The Lynx for making some of the images previewable! Makes it a lot easier to see what 'works' and what doesn't.

Edit: Working off what Lynx did, I wrote a very quick PHP script to place the specified 'image' in the page:

http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Dummy.php?Img=NAME.JPG

Just replace NAME.JPG with the URL to the image, here are some examples of mine and others:

http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Dummy.php?Img=http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Apollo1.jpg
http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Dummy.php?Img=http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Apollo3.jpg
http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Dummy.php?Img=http://hometown.aol.co.uk/pinchopaxton/images/ApolloForums.jpg
http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Dummy.php?Img=http://img20.exs.cx/img20/5185/tgc_logo.jpg
http://ep.designex.net/Misc/Apollo/Dummy.php?Img=http://www.lunarpixel.net/temp/indi_forum_banner.jpg

Oh yeah, and I hope it fits on your screen, the page itself is basically just a screenshot of the forum which I took at 1024*768, sorry to anyone on a lower res.

I'm surprised you all created them so quickly There is no set deadline, but given the number of entries so far I guess we don't need to run for too much longer. Maybe another 1-2 weeks.
