Anyways heres the W.i.p.s of the models Blazer is doing for me right now, the only problem I see is the head and hair of Andreas but hopefully Blazer will fix that if not then well I don't really know...

Looks good to me! I would want a first person mode also. Shooting in 3rd person is difficult.

Im sick of Master Chief soo...ooga booga!!
Explain to me why some people pay money for 3d software? Its not 3d till its been blended. wwww.blender3d.org

I think I will have FP view then because the few who replied said yes so there can be more acurate manual targeting and those who want to stay third can still aim manually but get the aid of auto-targeting.

It better!

Anyways Blazer finished the models now I just have to wait for Xenocythe to animate them and send the animated .x models to me. Then I'll put them into the game and get the animations working and will post up screens of combat! Yes, finally something worth looking at.

Hehe, well I didn't receive any models yet today, let me check again.
I would also like a list of how to animate it, and maybe a diagram...

Well the animations needed are in a thread by me in the 3d board... Enttiteld somethign like "If someone could model these for me I'd be delighted"

And how they should be animated like what they look like you can freestyle I guess because I don't have a preference for now.

So...yeah...still waiting for Xenocythe to finish animating the models, in the meanwhile I've decided to restart the engine from scratch using GMAN/LOST IN THOUGHT'S Collision instead of NGC, and I also want to add ODE physics in to the mix as well.

This looks like a step in a direction that will only help to improve the quality of Urbia. However this also means that the date I had planned for a demo will be pushed back by a month so be ready for a demo- January 25th.

So be ready.
(And Yes I was originally planning on a Christmas release of the demo)

It's no problem Xeno none at all. And you wouldn't understand how I wanted them animated because in text I can't even understand what I'm trying to say and my scanner is broken so I can't scan up pictures and it would take waaaaaaaaay too long to make them in photoshop thats why I said animate them however you feel you should.

And I'm sorry Bizzare Guy. It is ever so sad. In fact many of my made up fanboys (I wish I had real ones. ) have commited seppuku. Ever so sad really.

I would like to say this:

This game is not dead and I'm simply bumping it up to inform everyone of what has happened recently. First, I got a great idea from watching Sin City. Make the game black and white with tinges of color for things that really need to stand out from their surroundings.

Second, Xenocythe still hasn't finished the animations and so I have no clue whats going on with them.

Third, I had to reformat my hard drive and was unable to back up recent source code for Urbia and so have to start the engine over again, however as this was going to happen anyways it is not that big of a deal but it means that I have to remodel test enviorments and huds.

Then let me ask you this. Is there any way to via code saturate the screen so it's black and white to make the game black and white?

Anyways... Xenocythe... what's happening with the animations?

This is just theory, but in real life it think you use a filter. So would it not be possible to make an image, and just make it a transparent some, paste it over everything elese to give the impression of being in black and white

...again this is just thoery.

got an idea: make all you're model black with cell shading, and make the light white, so like that, all you're model is white with shadow for the black. just an idea like that.

Sett, I considered your way however there are reasons why I won't do it like that. And Gokz you're idea could work however it might not be fully black and white like I intend it doing it that way because if the overlay is transparent you'll still see some of the colors just fainter. And I want to saturate the screen because like in Sin City certain objects that are meant to stand out will be colored and with the overlay just using it over the screen would make it diffucult to do. Or overlaying all the objects with it might cause a speed reduction.

And: Andrew Neale, what are you rated? Because I can't find the rating for you in the theatres.

The animations are going rather smooth, but be aware that its not completely easy, and its not completely fun all the time

First I have to set up bones in the body.
Then I have to attatch the vertecis to the bone that they fit (hard).
Next, I do the animations on the list.
After that, I have to export it and test the animations in DB and find out the perfect frames, perfect speed, and go back and forth changing some things, export, copy to folder... all for each animation.
Finally I must record the animations in a list to send to you.

(It get's really brain wrecking when your main prject is getting
messed up )

But, for you, I'll go through it and do my best. Expect an e-mail with the Fighter in it with a list of animations soon.
(2 days max unless something goes terribly wrong)

Ah! I forgot I set that as my location! Lol!

Well I have been experimenting and so far have come up with a cool motion blur effect, a bloom effect and blue and black but so far not black and white! I have tried messing with the backbuffer but that needs a dll and I tried messing with memblocks and sprites. I may get there eventually but I think that your best bet it to just use black and white textures. I have made a little app that will help you there. Download the attachment and read the readme. Let me know if you need help.

The first piece of media in a while. Thank you god and Xenocythe for the animated model. This is simply a picture of the model while kicking, not in engine ( but still in DB). Those will come later.
