Very, very nice. Exceptional work. However, as I do not plan on purchasing FPSC, I would only be interested if the .X models and associated textures were available for DBPro.

Thanks Benjamin, wasn't sure if any FPSC users hung around here!

This is something I really need to talk to RickV about, hopefully something can be worked out, then everyone wins.

Real nice work Bond. I know there was another thread about using FPSC media in DBPro, and Rick said it was something they probably plan on implimenting. Though the price would most likely either go up, or be split into an "Indy" and "Commercial" category; much the same way Torque markets their model packs.

This is not an FPSC forum.
It's bad enough that you annoy people in the FPSC forums...at least have the decency to leave the rest of the TGC forum members alone.

Bond,
I am still watching this pack and I am very interested.

The truth hurts sometimes...
You have spammed threads...you probably recognize this thread since you did some major spamming in it...
which I had to clean up.
You don't have to own FPSC to participate in the TGC forums.
This disagreement has come to an end...and it is off topic for this thread.

Nice! I wish my laptop had that resolution. I do most of my work on my desktop now with dual displays, but for the times I'm working on my laptop I wish I had a little more screen space. I bet you're dying waiting for it.

haha, just got it today, so far my first impressions are very good, the resolution is perfect, ive yet to run some tests and install everything.

and to top it off, free vista upgrade to premium

the 7900 is just too good, having just jumped off of integrated graphics ofcourse that is.

ive already UV mapped some of my characters before receiving the new pc, so we might finally see some of my characters up soon

(this reminds me, i need to change the end of my sig)

very good Bond. I hope to start character modeling soon. it's been years since i have drawin anything so the texturing might be a btit shaky. It's very nice of you to release wire photos of these models. it allows us to see a good way to organise geomtry properly...

I had hoped to have this done by March. But it doesn't look likely right now. Building high poly models and perfecting the normal map is taking longer than I estimated. Things will go a lot faster once I'm done with the characters, though.

For now I'll just say Spring 2007 as an ETA. Thanks for the interest.

This one's proving to be a pain in the butt for some reason, so I thought I'd take a break and show the progress so far.

A barbarian.

Also, I'm close to being finished with this pack's characters. I'm only doing a couple more, so if there's any requests, make them known. I'll be moving on to entities/weapons/segments after the characters are done.

Thanks for the suggestion Keith, I could make an assassin. I've got to check with Jon Fletcher first, I remember he made a female assassin for his portfolio, don't know if he was planning on using it as part of his pack.

Not much into fantasy but these are all great models and I know that you'll be getting great deformation out of them and if you give them melee anims they'll be a must-have.

I'd love to see the spiders if you're still planning on doing them.

Thanks you guys.

@rolfy:
There's no problem really, on some days things come easy, on other days everything is a fight. Part of the problem is that I didn't have a clear idea in my head when I started this guy, I just winged it. So I wasted a lot of time trying different designs out that just weren't working for me. I might be getting a little burnt out too.

@Errant:
I was never much into fantasy either, but I thought I'd try something new and give FPSC a different genre. Melee will be in there, I'll probably have to include several different types of attacks and maybe a knock-back animation after some predetermined amount of damage. I could get away with simple attacks for my zombies because zombies are dumb. These models are gonna need a bit more I think.

The final 2 "traditional" characters I've decided to include in this pack are an elf and minotaur. I'll have texture variations for most of the characters, and I think this will give a nice variety for this pack.

I may try a few non-human type creatures if I feel the pack is really lacking after making the weapons/entities/segments.

very nice barbarian, reminds me of a similar character ive seen before somewhere...certainly paints the picture great work.

Quote: "I've got to check with Jon Fletcher first"

it seems my progress is far later than yours, so i will not hold back any ideas from you, create what you like and i am happy to pick up on the rest.

an assassin was one of my ideas, though there is nothing wrong than having more than one (male, female etc.)

the following codebox contains my original char/creature list, i may be altering it, depending on requests after your characters are finished...

im interested in seeing your elf, i really like elvish designs

Thanks Jon. In the end I went for a typical "Conan" type design, from certain angles it even looks a little like Schwartzenegger, maybe a subliminal accident.

I was planning on doing a female elf, since elves are effeminate anyway and we need more females.

There's definitely plenty of fantasy material to go around, and even if we slightly overlap, our differing styles and designs will give more than enough variation.

There are almost 100 variations of trolls, elves, and almost a million different wizards. I dont think should be a problem. Some people think elves are short like hobbits while others think of them as tall super-human guys. Its all different.

Tis looking quite nice, quite nice indeed.

To be honest a fantasy pack without the creatures (and a spider was requested a few times already) is, imo not a complete fantasy pack at all. I'd rather see the elf and minotaur dropped in favor of 2 or more creatures. There's a good selection of humanoid characters already, some creatures would really make the pack complete.

Thanks for the feedback, I can see that creatures are one of the most requested, so it looks like I'm going to have to attempt it.

The thing is, I also have to keep the FPSC target audience in mind. I can just the topic now: "I tried giving the spider a weapon from Model Pack 5 and it doesn't work, OMG PLS HELP ME I need it for my GAME!"

But I'm hearing ya, I'll give a go at the creatures. I still plan on doing an elf and minotaur though.

I'll have finished pics of the barbarian in an hour or so.

I can see the topics also, but I do think I'll be able to restrain myself from posting in them

On the other had rofly gave his creature a weapon also, I gave him a hint how to accomplish it, use a invisble weapon.

Anyway thanks for giving the creatures a try!

You... are the most amazing 3D modeller and texturer in the WORLD!!!

I'm not kidding. This is unbelievably high quality amazing professional low poly work! You're so great at this stuff. I wish I could somehow pay you to make models and texture for my upcoming MMO... it would be so incredible with models like that.

Actually, any game would be incredible with stuff like that

You receive the top rank modeller and texturer on my list man.

After a lot of hair pulling I think this one turned out great. I took the advice that my models were looking too "clean", and really gave a lot of detail to the normal map.

Closeup view, notice the stubble on the face and the woven belt, all normal map.

Side and back:

Wireframe overlay, some are interested in seeing this:

I'll have to go back and revisit some of the other models and really go nuts on the normal map, it takes more time definitely, but I think it's worth it in the end.

A giant ant or spider with a frikkin' M249 SAW strapped to it's head would be, well...AWESOME.

IMO, don't let that kind of thing hold ya back. To be honest, I was a little bummed that not all the MP4 civilians were compatable with weapons. One of them had a wierd firespot or something so when I assigned a weapon the vweap geometry would be displayed inside-out (on that character only). Just my .02

Barbarian looks cool, btw.

Wow, this is the first I've heard of this, they were all tested and working at the time of release . I DID make some of the characters right-handed, I wonder of one of the updates screwed things up for these characters. I'll have to re-check them with the newest release, and have TGC update them if necessary.

In the meantime I could re-export any non-working ones for you with the default left-handed biped.

Ahh. Yeah, I suppose it would be from the right-handed ones. Uploading a pic for you. It may be noticed more if people make any Battle Royale scenarios with the new school packs

It would be fantastic if get time to update. The deformations being so nice and all on an otherwise great model pack.

Thanks Errant, I'll definitely look into it and get this fixed. I'm sending you an email also. I can't believe you're the first to point this out. Like I said, I didn't notice this at the time of release, maybe the updates have broken something?

My "old" characters are hard for me to look at now, they're low-poly craptastic!
