Great work as always Bond1, I noticed you are using polyboost , I just purchased polyboost 2.5 recently and I like it so far , I’m still trying to figure out all of the tools , I can’t believe it was only $116 for all of the tools it comes with it’s a great buy,

$116? The price must have gone up, I almost positive I only paid $75 for it, but I bought it when it was at version 2.2.

I bought it at the time solely for viewport canvas to paint away seams, but now that I'm doing high-poly modeling the other tools are indispensible, especially the "set flow" feature in loop tools. And the new polyshift tweak feature is cool as hell, like soft selection on steroids.

Can you please also make the pack for non-FPSC users?

I'll pay for this pack - I am one of the most ravenous media purchasers around.

EDIT:
Oh, I just noticed there are 6 pages of posts - I haven't actually read past the first page.

Also, what formats are these going to be in? I would like to use them in Blitz3D - but don't necessarily require them as .b3d meshes.

I have a proven track record at purchasing media and have will happily freely advertise packs - I do this for media creators over at blitzbasic.com.

ps - I'm happy to pay in advance if I can get to use these in Blitz3D - I'm not working on a commercial release.

Stuff like this is very rare - I've bought all I can from people like cubixstudio and basilstudio as well as leaning on the RealmCrafter people to sell their character media unencrypted - we've got as far as animal packs.

Also, I notice on "John Fletcher's" site:

Quote: "The Models are in Direct X format, each textured with a .DDS texture, some with multiple variations, built specifically for the FPSC engine, .3DS models can be obtained upon request

License:
You are subject to do whatever you want with the models, put them in any game, commercial or not. although it was originally built for FPSC, you can use them in any engine you wish, for any cause, the only exception is you may not redistribute the contents of the pack without my permission."

It would be nice if this can be matched with this pack.

Very doubtful. This will be an official TGC model pack, so most likely the usual restriction will apply.

Yeh, but "John Fletcher's" licence suggest it doesn't have to be that way - ie it isn't with his stuff.

If this is going to be FPSC only - then how about a non-FPSC pack at a higher price?

Personally, I think these guys should be posting this stuff all over the place - lots of programming forums. That's what BasilStudio did - they advertised their stuff everywhere they could think off.

Forget TGC licensing here, think of the money to be made from a freely-available pack.

I agree 100%, but the stuff bond1 shows may already be licensed by TGC and it seems that they only license exclusive, giving them the only rights to publish the models. I don't think it's wise, but as well as Jon as Bond1 one have chosen to go this route in the past, limiting their sales to one community only.

I've had previous success at swaying TGC when they swallowed up Aliencodec and took our BlitzTree3D and BlitzGrass from us - we got them back again. It was a battle that lasted over a year.

I'll wait for an official response then suggest (if this is FPSC only) that him and TGC charge a higher price for a non-FPSC version and then split the extra profit between them somehow. I would deem it fair that FPSC users get it cheaper and non-FPSC people pay a higher price - I'll go along with that - as it was my idea anyway.

It has been suggested that TGC do this for all of the FPSC model packs...and I think it's a good idea.FPSC users can buy it and DBPers can buy it and maybe pay extra for a license to use it in DBP.There are quite a few FPSC users who also own DBP and I am sure that they feel it is unfair that they cannot use their stuff from FPSC model packs in DBP.
Also,it would benefit TGC since this is a source of untapped profit.Quite a few DBPers have shown interest in buying FPSC model packs. We are all just waiting to hear from those that make those kinds of decisions...

I'll even entertain TGC stating you have to buy FPSC as well (if you are a non-FPSC user) as long as you can use the models outside of FPSC. Again I think it would be a fair deal - doesn't mean people are going to use FPSC, but at least TGC notch up sales of it and have an army of potential users who may give up coding their own engine (in whatever language) and resort to using FPSC as a way out.

I haven't signed any type of contract yet for these models, obviously I'd like them to be aimed at FPSC, and also at FPSC X10 when it launches around April.

But it would also be in my best interest to get these out to as wide of an audience as possible, and personally I have no problem whatsoever how these models are used. But I would have to talk to TGC about this, hopefully there can be compromise. Some stock FPSC models are available on Turbosquid individually, so I know that TGC is be open to the idea, but I'd like to offer them at a competitive price as well to folks not using FPSC or DBPro too.

Do you think you will also be able to upload the actual models themselves? I mean the .max files. That would really help out a lot of people, like me. I don't really "get" organic shapes like most people don't here, and it would be great help for everyone, even the more experienced users.

Anyways, great job, and I like how you dirtied up that barbarian a little, be sure to do that on the other models you make.

Bond1- To tell you the truth, you should sell them yourself. You will make more money and you can tailer the lisence anyway you see fit. This doesn't have to be a TGC exclusive for it to sell mate. I think you should sell these to more than just the TGC community. they are of great quality and would fetch a pretty penny in most of the gaming communities sprinkled about the internet.

Regards,
RF

The downside is having to wait for it though.

I think a factor for me is going to be what animations are included.

New update, a Night Elf! Normal mapped with opacity-mapped hair.

I've already got most of the modelling done on the minotaur, after that, things should go much faster, I spent way too much time messing around with Vista, but now that's out of the way and I cna get back to work.

You've harnessed the powers of normal mapping to give a night elf an outtie O__O

The ears seem a little small but maybe it's because I've played too much WoW. Can't wait to see what you do once you get to animations. I think you've really gone through an evolution on this bunch.

This is my fave out of this pack so far. Keep it up!

Nice job on the elf Bond.
I dont know if you have encountered this or not,but when doing my spiders I have not found a way to remove or replace the enemy characters footsteps, which as you know are set in the segment fpe, just mentioning it as you are doing quadrapedal characters like the minotaur. It wont sound so good when he walks with a bipedal sound.Any ideas on this one?

Thanks everyone.

@rolfy:

Actually, the minotaur is bipedal (centaurs are quadrapedal), so it won't be a problem in this case. Hmm, I don't know though, after a quick look through the audiobank folder it doesn't look like it's user-specifiable.

@greenlig:

The file size will largely depend on the length of the animation file. These will contain the default FPSC animations at minimum, so the .X file will be around 3-5 MB in size. Most of the characters have 2048x2048 compressed DDS textures. But if your graphics card can't handle the large textures you could resize them.

@Errant: Yeah I went "in between" the typical small pointed ears and the grotesquely large WoW ears. We'll see how she looks when in-game, if they need to be larger then I'll stretch them.

Darn!so they are.Anyway I haven't been able to find a way around this and it does kind of put a damper on things,my spiders sound like their wearing hob nail boots.
Only solution is to use silent segments.

Just an observation, not sure about her ears sticking out at an angle like that - I think they should be pretty much upright (like ours).

Higgins, no zombies planned for this pack, sorry to say...

Jon, the lighting on the arms is bothering me a bit too, probably because the high-poly is smoother than the low poly, and the lighting isn't quite matching up.

I've chatted with Lee and hopefully he can work out having a bloom shader on the eyes so they glow, that would be awesome!

Lots of different opinions on the ears, I like them as they are for now, but might so some adjustments later.

Looks fantastic.

If they really look as good in-game as they do in your screenshots, you're going to be able to give the oblivion modellers a run for their money.

Indcidentally, (I apologise if this has been answered before) what are these modelled in?

Thanks guys. Jon, here is the wireframe for the head. Wasn't nearly as hard as I thoughtit would be, it's still much harder to make a convincing human head. I might darken the fur though, it looks a little too wolf-like I think.
