@spudnick i use invisible walls and roofs for my outdoor levels that way it makes it indoor and frame rate dont suck as bad

I have several bugs which may be the beta or not.

Firstly, on some entities invisible black textures bits don't go invisible. However some of the same entity in the level do go invisible as intended. (If you don't know what i'm on about there look at the picture, there are several tree entities, all the same model, some of which transparency isn't working.

Secondly - water level. Can someone tell me how to put it in? i have a zone with water level script, and this generates a water level. Fine - but how do i raise it or lower it say half a segment? can i make waves bigger?

Thirdly - water level. a level is in place, but covers the whole map, if there is a bit of land above this, a segment, for example 3 levels above the water and i shoot at the floor, a bullet hole appears in the floor, but a water splash sound is heard. This shouldn't happen.

Fourthly - If i add in lights some entities will light up super bright and glow so you can't tell what they are, however entities next to them will act normal. The only way out of this is to turn the ambience level so low everything else is too dark to see, then you can tell what the glowing entities are.

Erm thats it, can you tell me is these are beta issues or genral issues? I have done wipe to version 1 and stuff re-installs etc.

I could be wrong, but what you could be experiencing is the difference in the Shaders (fx) applied to different entities. Try applying the same fx to each enity and see how it looks.

Why not? you shot through the floor into the water.
It is just one of those things you have to watch for when setting up your map. Personally, if I want water I give the map with water it's own level. This also heps to keep the load down on the system.

ahh i no this bug it because you have to many of the same texture models of trees. in the old fpsc like 109 if you put more than 10 wheel chairs in on e room you will get a texture problem. some will be black some will have the right texture. fpscx10 has the same issue. i recommend start with 5 run test than if its ok add 3 more if still ok add up to 10 still ok try 12. keep doing this to see what ti the limit.

All the trees were working as normal in beta 10 - so I'm wondering if its a bug that's crept back in.

In my map there is a mountain with a lake below it, this is where the water is annoying as you stand 11 levels above the water and you shoot through 11 levels of supposedly solid rock and still here a splash!, Do you think water could be introduced to only appear on single segments you select rather that as a whole plain?

Oh deer, iv found a new bug and still an old one to for my game,

since version 1.18.15 and also in 1.18.16 my games are experiencing crashes.

There is no error code, but when runing a game and after a while it crashes and i get a popup window stating about that my level may be to large, well at only 1358mb in test mode, i don't agree.

i have had game in around 1640mb that has been ok, oh yeh i have disabled the MB limit, and just thinking about it i may try again with it enabled, just to be sure!

Also in one test game i have No characters, just scenery from mainly stock items, and just the ground is non stock, but the ground is used on 1.18.08 on another pc for which is ok, just for i would mension.

2nd im still having problem with T341 character using way points.

i have 2 steps the same type, one on level 1 and another joined on top for level 3, so im going from level 1 to level 3 in one continues step, but they just don't even start the first steps.

3rd i have started loosing lots of my trees. they worked ok in 1.18.8 - 1.18.10

And finaly, not a bug as such, But can't we have a search option for our media, as i have so many items it takes me forever to find what im looking for, dam brain can't remember everthing
So a nice search feature just like the one in the online Store.

Anyway is anyone else having similar issue?

Ok back to my Bugging Bits

I am also getting crashes in v 1.18.08 on other computer, but i did mange to find out that it has somthing to do with some media/item im using in map.

Also This weird thing of file size,
In 1.18.16 my game size is 1415mb but in v 1.18.08 it is only 1224mb Erm Nearly 200mb differance How?

Maybe this is also causing game to crash as the data is incorrect and hence the Temp file in windows is suffering from it,
as that is where i found part of the problem on other computer running 1.18.08

Update:
i found out what was the problem with the crashing issue
My ground segments was bleeding through buildings,
i was using uneven ground, and when changed to flat tile/ground by the buildings all was ok.

Just installed beta 16 on a fresh install of FPSC and I'm getting the black segments again.

After going against everything I've previously said about not using betas for development, I thought that maybe it was because I was using the beta to work on my game levels which I 1st built using FPSC 1.17.

However, I've since tried to make completely new maps purely for testing beta 16 and get exactly the same results. All the segments show up black.

I also tried it with just plain vanilla FPSC with no mod (I use WASP mod for my game development), again, I got the same result on a brand new map using plain vanilla FPSC beta 16.

So, the only conclusion I can come up with - after a process of elimination (installing beta 16 on a fresh install of fpsc, and building brand new test maps both with and without WASP) - is that there is a problem with beta 16.

[edit]I run FPSC Cleaner and clear out my temp folder after every test build[/edit]

Well... what do ya no. I was about to upgrade from 118.14 to 118.16 and had trouble downloading 116. when going for a 4th attempt in 4 hours, I noticed 118.17

BETA17 (and RC1) has been released with SAFE ARRAYS switched off to give you your performance back. This should be the final version which will go out as V118 stable. If you find any show stoppers, you have about 2 weeks to report it before we go live with this monster update After that, we'll start compiling our thoughts around V119.

un-neccessary side note:
I am now keeping multiple working copies of FPSC on my PC. One to work with, one to test releases, one to poke around in, and another just for GP. The build up to this release made my HDD hate me for all the re-installs.

TGJ, Can I have your computer please?!!

A couple of people have suggested that my black segments problem might be GFX card related (I have a GeForce 6200), but, according to the Nvidia web site it's supposed to be PS3 compatible

I know I have a bit of a dinosaur PC, but up until beta 14 I could run FPSC with no problems at all (apart from a few scripting problems I'm still trying to get sorted).

Well after my own glitch in my game that has bee fixed now, I am happy chappy again using 1.18.16 Non RC1

i like the Sound of RC1( Release Candidate version 1) it sounds like were getting there for final D-Day launch, well my D-day any way, cus im making a hole new concept of a MOH and Cod type War game

so lets get to it and see the performance of RC1

I wonder if it will take me 2 hours or 2 weeks to find problems.

Wow that did not take me long to get a newer bug. less than 5 mins into test

Ok i played my game in test mode, got myself killed and respawned ok

so my health i back to 500, so im taking hits and my health has gone down to about 400 ish and then i get shot even more and the health goes upto to a whacking 9999

Out of all versions of FPSC i have never seen or heard of this before, so it a new one on me,
All are Wehrmacht stock characters in this game to to mention.

As you mention it i think i did press it as i was trying to drop a weapon and was just pressing button: DOH

Well here is a proper Bug.
Stock weapon Tompson shoots like a Mini gun when keeping fire button supressed.

Ok heres an update. after putting Shaders to full shaders from None
The shooting is all ok.
A bonus in my opinion.
so not sure why the gun fire is faster without shaders enabled.

well i can understand how but that will be like writing a novel in post.

bruce, there is obviously something wrong, but that somewhere cant be fpsc... if it works on majority of other machines, the criteria is narrowing down your system specs, software and hardware!

With it being your machine, you'd have to do most of the legwork here to help narrow the issue down to what is causing it!

It isnt just bruce... I have the same problem. I have a perfectly rgb (0,0,0) texture and I set transperancy, yet nothing happens.... Can someone tell me what they do for and invisible entity please? Thanks. Cheers.

Actually, while I don't have the issue as described by Bruce3371, many people also ignored the invisible segment bug for quite a few weeks because it was only happening to a few individuals. I think it's important to investigate these reports, as it would seem that most of these kind of bugs come back to bite us.

1.when you say black texture. is it a BLACK texture or is the Alpha showing instead of original texture,

2. Are the problems from FPSC stock items, or are the items made or bought from else where, if Stock can you tell us what one/ones

3. Are you using any Mods if so can you tell us wich one.

4. when or what version of FPSC was your contents last working with.

5. Have you re-installed the offending contents, or did you leave the existing files in the previous install directory to save time installing again.

With this info we may have more of an insight
if you can try putting the item with all its contents IE DDS BMP extra together and zip it and send us the file to tryout or understand whats watt!

I installed 17 over 16 as well and have no issues. Of course, I didn't have the issue before. I tested and built the stock levels and the Metro Theater level and all worked and looked fine.

I think it might be worth him and others who are experiencing this problem should also post their setup.ini along with their system specs?

Are the people experiencing black textures using the latest version of the model pack?

A lot of the model packs have had recent updates and you only get these by re-downloading them in your Order History and reinstalling it.

By major bugs are gone!

Texture transparency on tree entities back as normal, some entities now don't glow ludicrously white!

Also frame rate is up, memory consumption down, now to add my lighting back...

Oh, and is there any way to change the wave size on the water?

I just got the DarkGame Studio and went to compile the source because there are some mod ideas I would like to toy around with. The compiler exited with an error about DarkAI, so I copied over the DarkAI.dll version from DBExtras file and got past it. Is the released version of DarkAI out of date? Once I got through that, I got another error about not being able to use return in a function. I reinstalled the release version of DarkAI since I wasn't able to compile anyways. I understand that my operating system isn't supported, but it should at least compile.

Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

All these questions have been answered in my previous posts. But I'll answer them all again (plus the subsequent ones) here.

When I say all my segments are black, I mean just that, all my segments are black.

I've tried it with both vanilla FPSC and WASP mod and get the same results.

It happens with all stock segments. But it doesn't happen with custom segments. All entities show up fine.

When I re-install everything, I start again from a completely 'blank canvas'. I delete folders that have been left behind, I empty out the temp folder, I clear out the registry with CCleaner and I delete any start menu items that may have been left behind.

I first noticed the problem when I installed beta 15 on top of beta 14.

I have the updated model pack 12 files, which is the only pack I've ever bought.

While my PC may be an older one, its specs are more than double the minimum required, and my GFX card is PS3 compatible.

I've attached my setup.ini

Shaders and textures are set to full in the game build and preferences of the editor.

Have you run the FPSC cleaner tool in the FPSC Root folder? You haven't stated, but it sounds like you may need to run it and maybe more than once.

Hay Bruce, Just an idea, have you tried installing directX 9c again, and also reinstall your graphics drivers.

And also download Nvidia Physx driver, here is link for that-

Cus maybe your system got updated and may have corrupted a file .dll.

i have come across this a long time ago on another software,

So for the amount of hasle your having it may be worth a try.

Also i hav had a look at your setup file, and here are the diffences from mine
Mine ( dividetexturesize=2 )and yours is =0
try changing it to 2 and see if any changes

Ok back to A problem im having using way points

i have setup 9 waypoints to use on stock ww2 german characters, All they do is just stand their, i have used these stock scripts to see if they can work.
Chase script, cautious 10, Shoot, and Shoot 10 scripts

All characters are all standing on the big star, The start area.
and the ground is flat with no obstacles.

Has any one any idea, or how do you use yours

Well its not the right thread to talk about that.
But what you have to do to be able to compile the source code is to completly install DBP, than DarkAI, DarkLights and than download the "dbpro_upgrade_7_5_Extras" and copy the files of the "DBPro_for_FPSC" into your DBP installation.

Than you can start changing and compiling the code.
It's a bit tricky if you don't know how to set up DBP right for FPSC.

EDIT:
And make sure to use the latest DBP Beta, otherwise it will not work ^^

I use the pace script for characters following waypoints and it seems to work for me (when I can get FPSC working at all that is lol).

Sorry for the double post. I've updated my GFX card drivers, which were only one version out of date, and I've re-installed DX9c. Still no joy though.

Here's a snapshot of what I get, As you can see, all the segments are black. Adjusting the ambient light with the < and > keys makes no difference, so I know that's not the problem, plus, like I said, entities show up fine. It's just the stock segments which show up black.



I've also attached the test map .fpm I've been using.

[edit]Yes I did use img tags for the snapshot link, but now on top of everything else, my online picture site is playing up. Not my week for PC stuff is it?!![/edit]

@bruce3371: Try 1 dynamic light anywhere and see if they appear.

I have never, ever done anything but install over the top of previous versions and it still works and never had any real problems. Must be lucky there.
