Come on man, that brings more reality in the game.
Also, Zombies can now be practically invulnerable to anything but a head shot, as it should be.
I think the head shots are the best upgrade made to FPSC since scancodekeypressed. (more commercially viable with headshots)"

...yep. Totally agree here. For added realism, headshots are huge. They dramatically change the feel and gameplay, if used correctly.

EDIT: Wasn't addressing you, Reality Forgotten

While gameplay was okay with v1.07, I have experienced dramatic improvement in all aspects of performance. In normal conditions, the worst framerate I'm experiencing is in 25-28 range.

Never said headshots weren't an added feature I merely stated that until the speed issue is resolved they are pointless for me.

Even after multiple re-installs of beta 4 and FPSC itself, whenever I add the Player Start marker, I get the error:

Could not load 3d object at line 13736.

I posted this in the other sticky as well, has anyone else had this problem?

@Veron

No, that is the first I have heard about that one.

Are you re-installing the same copy, or did you re-download 1.08 again?

I'm thinking your download may have been corrupted, and if you are not re-downloading, then it just keeps reinstalling the corruption.

I would like some way to disable the auto ceiling feature if I don't want to use it.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

...yep. I've had this before, Veron. I saw something like that with v1.07. I haven't seen it with v1.08 Betas though.

If I remember correctly, I think that only by uninstalling and reinstalling every trace of FPSC, was I able to get past that bug.

...yep. That'd be a good thing to add...a toggle key for the auto ceiling.

Thanks,

Lee, I know this may seem like a dumb question, but will we have to update our MPs for v108 or v2? Just curious.

Ok, I just got something really random but awesome. I made a fairly large map with this beta, it ran at about 30 frames per second, good. but out of nowhere, when I was in a alley like place my framerate BURST to like, 50-60 fps, it was insane. It ended after like two minutes but i was able to fight and it is much funner in 50 fps. Just want to know if anyone else had this or it was just me.

Did you perhaps accidently hit the x-button? This "awesome discovery" has been proven on several occasions to be people pressing X while testing, which removes the framerate-capping, letting it run free for as good as your computer can handle it basically.

Wow what a speed increase! levels now running constantly at 36-37fps with out the cap turned off! and it took 20 minutes to build a 30-level game!

It's hilarious to fight something when I press the "X" button! 'Specially with an RPK!

I still have the head-shot bug/when I shoot a person in the torsa, they die as if I shot them in the head. I love the no gravity feature, and the no floor logic is great for DYNAMIC BLOOD! I'll try and screw around with FPSC and see if I can get dynamic blood working.

I keep getting this error, when I put lights in my level....

A little window pops up and says Texture lock timed out...

I dont know if its because of this but its making me angry! I never got it before this either.

Well, I suppose it could be a heart-shot, but then the game is made too easy. Also, the head-shot thing still applies to melee weapons, so if I punch a guy in the face, he dies. Can't tell if that's good or bad...

Hey,

I have not been able to build a game into a .exe file since I have downloaded the newest patch. When I push Build Game, it freezes and nothing happens. Also I cannot uninstall the patch. Can anybody help? Or did I miss something?

FPSC Packs 9-10 don't work properly, when you place them in Map, they don't show up.

Make sure not to place it on the default "ground" segment. For some reason, MP9&10 weapons don't appear on that segment.

Sorry for the delay, been to GDC all last week and answering emails all this week I have posted BETA5 with the fix for the disappearing window frames, which might adjust your rendering visibilities so let me know if BETA5 hides things BETA4 does not. I am happy to have BETA5 be very close to the official one we release for V108.

I have read the thread up to this point and the other reports regarding extra features and other oddities will go in another update. V108 was mainly about performance.

Reality Forgotten, please build a small level built from default media and send me the FPM and also final executable you build too, along with a report on what your system specifications are and what you are getting when you run through the level (FPS rates at various points in your level) with comments on what you are expecting to see.

From the overwhelming reports on performance improvements from V108 it is curious you are getting performance 'reductions!' so it could be something to do with your installation of the betas, or the way in which you are building/testing levels. Email me directly with the above and we will go through your issues. I have done this with several other users and they are all showing speed improvements now in V108.

Does beta 5 increase any speed at all, or just fix bugs? Also a quick bug you might want to fix, mossberg gun(not tested w/ others) always shoots 1 more bullet than you set it to.(if you set it to two, it will shoot three)

Wow, I'm on Vista Home Premium with a well spec'd machine, and it runs perfect. The editor is also clean, unlike the previous version.

Very, very nice job Lee.

Can ODE do ragdoll physics? I think not. Do you think we could get them implemented somehow?

Satchmo, that's how every gun works. If you set it to zero, it will fire one bullet. If you set it to 5, it will fire six.

I don't quite understand you, bud. Do you mean the fire ititerations or whatever it's called? If so, that's bullet holes, not how many shots are fired.

Lee,

Good news. I finally got something to build that showed the fps increase that 1.08b has offered. This is good news. Now for the bad news..I have to completely rebuild my maps from scratch to get them to utilize the speed ups.

Thanks for the work Lee it is much appreciated!

Cheers,
Dave

Great to hear Dave If anyone else has any performance related reports for V108, fire them my way. If by sometime next week we are all happy with performance enough to let me go onto those V109 features I promised, we will release V108 officially and get stuck into that one!

Weapon fire iterations are zero-indexed so 0-normal one shot, 1-one extra bullet, 2-two extra bullets, 3-three extra bullets. If did not make sense to have zero as meaning no bullets. A gun with no bullets is like programmer with no pizza (non-functional)

Which one has the "Game Creator Store" integrated in, final v108 or v109 beta?

Would someone clarify something for me? Does the speed increase reflect in your FPS display on screen: are you showing an FPS greater than 33? I see no speed increase, and I don't know if it supposed to show in the numbers or if it's just supposed to increase the normally slow areas. Thanks.

Best.

But when you run FPSC on a good computer , i think you cant see the speed increase ( like me ).. Couse than the game is too fast,,

Maybe you can test the x butten with and without the update/beta..

The problem I was tunning into was with pre-built maps. try building a new map and then test it. Doing that worked for me.

With a new map, simple 4x4 room with ceiling and one light, I have 32FPS still. Does anyone ever have it "show" more than 33, or is it a speed increase "up to" 33 in problem areas.

Signed, still confused.

EDIT: Woolfman, thanks, our posts crossed. I guess I'll have to do a clean install to see the speed increase.

Best.

xplosys, that is what I had to do. Woolfman, I only get 37 and I thought I had one of the best graphic cards available.

I just tried "Modern day." It starts out with 37 and then when I move to the fake door it slows down to 28. Then when I go back to the other door it picks up to 32 and then to 37. It seems to vary from 28 to 37 throughout.

However, I'm not getting any slow-down with any of my levels. Although, I've learned to be frugal with dynamic objects, lights, etc. etc.

BTW, I have full shaders turned on. Maybe that's why it is only 37 instead of 38.

F l a t l a n d e r I have everything on too (I have a 7600GS 256mb) I had it peak at 39 once or twice. The only time it dips in FPS is when I look out over my lvl from the roof then it drops big time. It goes around 21 or so.

Well, OK, you have thee best. Mine is rated #2 or #3 by the folks who test these thing. BTW, when I first start the game it will blink at 38 and settle down right away at 37.

Lee, I know this is way down on the requested list (17), but I sure would like those 5 input variables. Will help greatly with RPG aspects in the FP perspective, which I have come to really like. But, whenever; I just happen to be working on some RP on my current game.
